Top Scientist Claims: Black People Are Stupid

If the man has apologized then where does it leave the people that are busy abusing others for disagreeing with the man's position?

In my opinion, it makes them look really stupid and senseless.

How come U guys are reeling out Africa's problems like no man biziness. Africa has its own share of problems but it has nothing to do with being stupid or being less intelligent, nothing watsoever. Actually, it is the white guy who sits in the comfort of his apartment in front of his laptop and gets fooled by the idea that he has millions waiting for him once he makes a couple of payments that got the short end of the stick in terms of intelligence.

Like I said, Africa has its own share of problems because our leaders nay followers have misplaced priorities not because they are genetically wired to be dumb. Once again, that was Mr. Watson point and that is the point I am arguing. I am not arguing a case for Mugabe nor Obj. According to Watson all Blacks have down's syndrome, that is the  genetical syndrome closest to being stupid I can think of rite now.

The Asian continent had its own share of problems . At some point, China's main strenght now (which is population) was a huge disadvantage to them. Most of them were hungry and poverty stricken. At that time, no one thot of the term " the Asian tigers". Now it is a common word used in the economic community. Africans have their problems , huge one for that matter, but it has nothing to do with genetics. If we are so genetically dumb how is it that some students from this backward  system of shambolic education get into the more cutting edge research done in the west and still cope up. I am just wondering if the white scholars would have coped as well if the reverse was the case.
     Black people are not genetically wired to be dumb.

Let's just worry about our own problems first okay?  I am sure other races are taking care of theirs. No one said "blacks were genetically wired to be dumb".  We are saying that our environment is conditioning us to be dumb because of the "negative" factors we allow to take hold over us.  Please go back and read Tayo-D's and Texapette's posts and I hope you find them useful.  I think you have grossly misinterpreted this delicate subject and are fast heading towards the emotional quagmire exhibited by "rookie" and the likes of him! 

This not a topic of passion but one of reason and common sense!

The man was not shooting off his mouth based on any studies. He did not quote any studies to back his claim. Matter of fact, his only defense was black employees and Africa's economical problem. How does this relate to genetics? Where is the connection? That is what I am pissed about.

How can u deduce a scientific fact from a social  (attitude of black employees) and an economical issue?


However, he did because he hypothesized based on these two stand point that a gene that codes for intelligence will be out within a decade.

How can U get a hypothesis from 2 non scientific facts??

Do you understand when someone urinates on your leg and tells you it is raining?  What will he say?  And you buy that?  

Look, back to what I said before.  I do not need the likes of Dr. Watson to tell me who and what I am.  I stare at the mirror everyday and look around me and can easily draw my own conclusion.  Dr. Watson is operating on the level of "Damage control" for those whose feelings have been hurt by his "scientific research".  I am not that easily fooled!    The man has said what the heck he wants to say and he cannot take it back no matter all the apologies in this world.  It is called the DON IMUS slip of tongue!  We all know what is going on in his mind and the minds of many like him so who is he trying to fool?  Not me!  For simple minds, this could work.  But I am not forgetting it because his words ring true not because he is a racist according to some here!

My dear, no scientific study supports such nonsense.

I have worked with Americans and Britons before in the oil and gas. It is common to see the average white man look down on Nigerians (maybe blacks in general) and in most cases Nigerians that are not too sure of themselves are to blame. That doesn't make the Nigerian less intelligent.

Nigerians have broken academic records in the Western world from UK to US so what are we talking about?

I have written exams set by whites and I know how easy the exams are compared to our own system where we are made to invoke formulas before solving a maths question.

His comment is wrong and has been consistent, his apologies not withstanding.

Enjoy the weekend and stop believing that blacks are less intelligent than whites. Not having access to better infrastructure isn't the same thing as being inferior intelligent wise.

HE apologizeD???  So, let me get this straight. The Man basically came out and said what so many people out there were not bold enough to say. We castrate him for being the honest one instead of actually taking what he said with a grain of sand and then setting out to prove him wrong?? Now he apologized and we are all calm now that he did ??

Here is the way I see it. Why did the man decide to look to genes for the answer to the problem in Africa??Maybe cause so far, the world has not been able to figure out what is going on down there and why even after pumping over 1.5 trillion dollars into the continent ( AIDS ), things do not seem to be getting better. He is a scientist. Yes, he has his issues as a human being but if you were to think as a scientist would, you would kind of understand why he would jump to such a conclusion in his thinking. And by the way, it is not just that he came up with his ideas out of thin air. We have, if you have not noticed, given the world, evidence to support such insulting allutions over and over by the way we have continued to handle things as a people. Why now go off on him for being honest with us?? Is it ok for us to have problems and continue to watch as it gets worse but not ok for persons to express their opinion when it comes to what they see happening with us??
  
This reminds me of a case I had as a kid. This one dude used to go out and steal, when he came home, people would tell his mum her son was a thief. Immediately the woman would go in a rage shouting and screaming that her son may have problems but he was no more a theif than the other children in the area. People tried to be honest with her and she would go into the same rage each time screaming that all her neighbours were hateful people and did not have anything good in mind for her and her kids. Long story short, the boy went stealing, got arrested in his teens and ended up spending so many years in prison cause of his ways. The mother died from all the stress caused her by this boy whom she somehow convinced herself earlier in his life that he was ok and was just like the other kids.




I believe the one mistake you make here is to attribute africas problem to it's Leaders. The problem in Africa is not just limited to it's leaders. Case and point, Nigeria. We as a people have the power to do for self but we are yet to get ourselves to the point were we step out of self to act.



yes, the world has it's share of problems but that is no EXCUSE FOR US to keep throwing that line about everytime we are called to think or work to make life better for ourselves. China's problem still remains it's population. Only about 30 million chinese people are actually doing ok. over 750 million chinese are still living very poor.

Like I tried to explain earlier, please read what the Watson dude stated earlier. He said there could be a genetic link to what we see happening in Africa. I ask that you set your emotions to the side in this and actually see how this is more of a challenge than it is the man insulting africa ( as if we have not HEARD THIS ONE BEFORE).
  

Here is the situation.  The man threw out a hypothesis sort of  and said that in 10 years, that we might discover the gene linked to intelligence and BOOM!!!! People Jumped to EMOTIONAL MODE and instead of considering what exactly was inferred, made it another race issue. In the end, the man basically apologized and somehow that is supposed to quiet the discussion. God forbid 10 years from now, as the man said, scientists actually find a gene linked to intelligence and then what ??

U don't just  throw out hypothesis like that. He was part of the ELSI group (Ethical , legal and social bla bla bla) when the human genome was sequenced. So he should know better. The least he could have done is to wait until he has genetic evidence before he goes off .

God forbid what? So U actually believe that if and when the gene for intelligence is mapped, the gene will be found missing in black people Is that  why U are asking God to forbid??? My esteem is not that low. The blacks have the gene if it exists.

Actually, Yes you do @Uchenna,  You can throw out hypothesis that way. Remember Galileo?? The Wright Brothers?? They did cause they believed what it is they said and only later did we realize what they said was true. No need to change the rule now so as not to hurt a couple of sensitive people who can not look past their feelings when dealing with logic.
  
As for your post as to what I believe, No WHERE IN MY POSTS HAVE I SAID SO FAR THAT THERE IS A GENE THAT CODES FOR HUMAN INTELLIGENCE AND I BELIEVE IT IS MISSING IN BLACKS. I Do not have low self esteem that is why I am not bothered at all when people like Dawson express his opinion of people or even Africans. It is his opinion, does it matter to me and my view of self?? NO, hence the reason why I do not feel the urge to react to it as many have in here by calling him names and claiming he is being racist or what not. It is one thing to SAY you have no low self ESTEEM but ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS in my opinion and I have seen the way people have gone on to put this one themselves and felt a HUGE NEED to defend themselves from this. What do I think of what DaWson Said?? If you really read what he said, he makes a case, a stinging one to some it seems, but a case. How then do we show that his case is valid or invalid?? By SHOUTING THAT HE IS WRONG OR Forcing him to APOLOGIZE cause we are BELIEVE his Words mean so much to us as is?? OR By going out there and SHOWING HIM That HE IS WRONG /RIGHT by Our own Actions??? We Decide,  Same thing I have been saying all this while.

sometimes i am happy when black people say they ain't african because i believe that africans are smarter than them and if given the right tools, they will suceed. but black people in america always trying to be the victim, the whole black movement is over and they should get over it. they always accusing the white person for their misfortune or the neighborhood they live in. if you can't get out of the hood, then pick up a book and read. they need to stop trying to impress the wrong people who ain't going to give them jack.
