Why Do Igbo Girls Use Paper?
« on: October 19, 2007, 01:06 PM »

This thread isn't meant to be derogatory in any way but just out of curiousity, and of course, with all due respect to our eastern brothers and sisters, i had the priviledge of serving my fatherland in the east and from my observation, i noticed that igbo people usually do not usually make use of conventional toiletries in the convenience.

In other words, am saying that they make use of paper, and the health hazard involved in this is that the used pieces of paper are usually stored in a basket beside the water closet. That is for those that don't have out-doors i.e. toilet facilities seperate from the main builing, usually pit latrines or what is known as "shalanga" in western parlance. Out door users are also not exempted.

I mean, even in homes where their parents are graduates and you'd expect some level of exposure and hygiene, it's the same story.

All attempts at making enquiries about this failed. So, am throwing this open to Nairalanders for delibration. Please remember, this thread is not meant to be offensive in any way and meaningful contributions are encouraged. Thank you.

u just showed your ignorance by this post u made. Did u make a comprehensive survey before u came to the conclusion that Igbo girls use "paper" or did u just check out three households in the same geographical region before u came to your ignorant conclusion. For your information, tissue paper is also paper, that's why u have "paper" at the end of "tissue". I think u're an ignoramus that has no sense of reasoning coupled with a very low I.Q. You said u served your fatherland but I thought u needed tertiary education to do that because by all indication, u are not well-educated bringing a whole new dimension to the term "educated illiterate". Move your senseless post over to the jokes column and maybe it'll be a bit appreciated there. Moron

Betty,

Even though u are igbo, I guess, Should not make you et back at yemi victor in such a hash tone. He is just stating something he observed during his service year. He is correct to a large extent because I have come to query this personally. But I think the answer to yemi's question would be gotten when Yemi can answer the question why Yoruba babes use water, One wrapper and all those stuff associaed with the yoruba hygeine.

Hey Yemivictor,
If your article was meant to be a joke, I would have given you FOUR STARS!  but apparently, you are serious and meant what you wrote.  If thats the case, you are one damn ignorant and needs to be caged.  That was a classical example of stereotyping,  usually by lack of proper education and exposure.
