Hello Fellow Naija, It is obvious that the so called unitary system or the presidential cabinet have nothing to do but to remain silent on this issue. It is because they are form the same cancus or what?
There are so many thieves in the political corridor of our nation today and part of them are among the anti etteh group. Can you tell me how a thief will be struggling to catch another thief, well it is done in Nigeria.
Today In our contemporary politics is another thing entirely, But i will always be afraid of onething, Which is Justice. If justice is delayed further on Etteh case, then it will be denied. there are so many cases of Etteh in the country but whta we will always be hearing is dual process, though the rule of Law involves dual process and fundamental humna right but there are also limitations to some of the right.
I will implore our great disagreeable Speaker to please vacant the seat peaceful without frther delayed. This is my own view on the issues.
One thing that is paramount and constant is Change in a nation, A time will surely when history will tell us/ our children about their deeds.
Remmy

Since Aso Rock was Renovated with N1.5 Billion (sic) and Senate President's House was allegedly renovated with N450 Million then N238 Million is relatively small so Etteh must Stay.

Voting for or against Etteh won't stop our corrupt leaders from embezzling money. ???If only its possible to vote all the corrupt leaders out of office then my candid vote would av bin Yes.But alas the reverse is the case.May God come to Nigeria's rescue. Anyways,i vote Against her @Bblak yes it's very possible to recall your representative at the house of assembly or senate. It's just due to our ignorance in Nigeria. We also have the constitutional right to tell our reps what to vote in the house and not follow the chant of their dirty, DIRTY, share the money party. Let's wake up to what's our right She should go along with the system that selected her into power. Our opinions is what will sustain Nigeria

I have heard people say Obasanjo is the brain behind her being in that position but i only comment on facts and i felt he was no longer the president when she was made the speaker so how could he be the person who made her the speaker. You can imagine how shocked i was when i spoke to one of them and i asked why the problem has persisted and the answer was that the problem is that the woman is not competent for the position. I asked this honorable why then was she made the speaker and i was suprised the answer was 'It is Obj' I was suprised and wondering where this country is heading to when an ex president was the one who imposed an hairdresser in Ibadan as the speaker. Naija for show! may the Lord save us. As far as i am concerned i do not believe an NCE graduate should be the president of University lecturers so i strongly vote against the madam. She should just get away from that sit which is too intelligent for her level.

well if we say we want women in govt and the ones in govt will behave like this, without the women who want to be in govt saying anytin or takin any action then i guess women are not ready to be in govt neither can they bail the country out of the mess it is in rather they will add more to the corruption by adding to the country's expenditure with buying all the women stuff with govt money

It's unbelievable that some people still want Madam Etteh AKa "the more you see, the less you understand" as Speaker.
How vile can Nigeria be? Someone designated/allocated/appropriated/scammed/inflated/proportionate (whatever word you chose to call it) a whopping sum of 696NGN for the replacement of light bulb, light switch and 10 SUV's and still sits tight surrounded by a bunch of buffons and baboons, beating the drumbeats of no surrender until due process is followed. Some even said that the whole fallout was because lucrative legislative role's were not doled out to the agitators.
Madam Etteh lacks the moral impetus, the political will nor the educational capability to lead the House of Reps. She should therefore resign. The shock of spending such a colossal sum on frivolities and grandeur things in a nation sieged by intense poverty and maladministration calls for her immediate sack and persecution.
Several bigots, thugs and gangsters have come out to canvass support for her based on her ethnicity. Let it be known that this is the House of Reps of Nigeria. Madam speaker does not represent the Yoruba race, she represents Nigeria. Thus, the more she stays put with a face tainted violently with graft and incompetence, the more we are dragged as a nation to the mud!
Resign now Madam Speaker, head the committee on regulation of cosmetics and beautification if there is any in the House. If not, seek for one. That way, you and whoever put you there will find some form of happiness.

It is very interesting that everybody is shouting ETTEH must GO like NANS student activies and students on campus.
Why don't any of the (this) honourable member move a motion in the House to have her removed and let their be votes on it.
She will win the votes and that will be the end of that matter.
The issue I will keep saying is more than ETTEH and maybe the war will be averted if she stay but there is likely to be a full blown out if she leaves and that may be good for ordinary Nigerians as everything will be exposed
The whole of the National Actors Thearte (sorry National Assembly) will unfold as full time House of comedians and den of thieves.
Let the show start while Nigerians pay those jobless turn politcians huge some of salary for not enacting one single law because they are obbessed with who is or is not SLEEPING with ETTEH. (that is the silent facts)
With greatest of respect, not minding her qualification, hairdresser here, beauticians there, law degree etc, she is propably more competent than at least half of those so called Honourable members. She has also being in the House if I am right for over 8 years.
We need God to come now and deliver us, and surely he will do so. Amen.

@TOPIC I don't think she spent all that money on renovations alone. I believed She spent some of that money on opening more beauty saloons incase she gets booted out, in the next general elections.

You're giving our corrupt politicians too much credit. They don't plan their retirements that meticulously, that's why they never want to leave. They are never prepared to leave. They spend like there's no tomorrow!

We should mind the type of words we use to describe this woman, let us give her the opportunity to defend herself. Politics is what is being played out on the floor of the house now. We shouldn't drag OBJ into this, we have to be fair to this man, we assume a lot of things in this country, we can't be always right, we should stop spreading unconfirmed reports. At the end of the day, she will have to vacate her seat if found wanting, let us give her the chance to defend herself, it is her right, Nigerians are always impatient. As for my vote, I will wait till she defends herself. I also expect her to step aside before deliberations on the report, you can't be judge in a case against you

The real issue is that she most likely did not initiate d renovation contract scam. Those who put her there did. I can bet she's not entitled to up to 30% of the proceeds either. Those who put her there are. Now that things have gone topsy-turvy they are the ones obviously pulling all the strings to make sure she hangs in there. It's not her guts. They can't afford to have her squeal. Curse all of ddem. Verdict: She's guilty. They're all guilty as charged.

In my own view, i think she has done more harm than good. The climax being the sudden death of one of the House of Rep members. She should simply bow out.

Etteh, as far as I am concern should be tried by EFCC. Looking at most of the people supporting her, one will observe that from record, they lack Phronesis. Nothing but area boys not even men, who where thrown up by circumstances connected to robbery of voting materials and processes.

u guys know we got to hear this because so peeps where not settled well with respect to committees.thats the main reason for this brouhaha.well i think she should just cancel all the committees and start from the scratch.
she cannot sit as the head of the house to deliberate on the panel report.i don't think it has happened anywhere in the world,na only nigeria strange things dey happen and who is saying Obj isnt instrumental to her appointment.pssssshhh
she is an embrassment to the women folk in this country and has effectively deterred their chances of been relevant in nigerian politricks.
firstly she should step down, then the report can be deliberated upon, then we'll take it from there.
@Olowotee, how u doing,seeing u been around.cheers
