It depends on my stance in the society. she can get bachelor while nursing my baby. 2 kids are ok so she can focuse more on getting that masters and PHD

Well let say the minimum is HND or B.Sc.
There is no highest level of education for my wife.

Most importantly even with HND or  B.Sc.
She must value education.
She must have a reading habit, not just reading fashion magazines but knowledge based books and magazines. These, two, I can't compromise.

Depends on wherever level she wants to get to. If it's going to develop her skills more, I'd certainly encourage her.

WHy should there be a maximum? The sky is the limit. I would want a man that saw things that way. A better question would be, what is the minimum? Why set a cap on the level of education? Hey, I'm not saying she should have all the degrees in the world, but every woman deserves a man that would allow her to go as high as she wanted to (whether it is even high school) and didnt set any limits for her.

Actually, you have a pivotal role to play by way of either encouraging her and providing her with moral and even financial support!

Or, you could totally kill the zest & spirit she has toward education!! Tongue

@yemivictor, guys in this century should realise that it is not you who "should determine " what your wife gets . If you read the heading of the thread very well, it did not talk about giving support or not  but about "determining her level of education".

However, I still re-affirm that it is entirely up to her to determine what she wants. Once she makes her choice, i am left with no option but to provide the necessary support.

Remember she is you teammate NOT someone you "determine" what she does.

Mum has 3 degrees, dad a PhD holder, sis is a Doctor of Law, other sis has an MS in Engineering I'm getting an MBA and an MFA in Film and Music, bro's becoming a doctor, other bro a vet, youngest wants to be a fashion designer like Ozwald Boateng let's NOT even get into the extended fam. I'm surrounded by bookworms. Whoever I end up with better be ready because my fam is prone to having intellectual discussions over glasses of wine, kpouf-kpouf and fried chicken while playing monopoly and ludo. College degree is not a guarantee of superior intellect but it sure helps.

I don't what degree HID Awolowo had, but I knew she made a good wife. I don't know what certificate Mrs Gani fawehinmi had, but I knew she could match her husbands intellect at home, she also raised responsible children,  I can go on and on.

Many of those crazy about phd etc would either have a grand parents, or great grant parents that are staked illiterate. Yet, they never pause to think of the time education is not graded,

Worst still, you find people equating their Master degrees to Moral degrees. People whose score on character test would be sub zero.

To me, education as we have today is not a guaranttee to a happy marriage. To the contrary, people that neglect to develop their basic skills are worthless regardless of their qualifications.

Is it a concidence that, as our level of knowledge increase, the rate of broken relationship also increase? Is it a concidence that families are increasingly unstable inspite of our collection of academic trophies? Is it a concidence, our relationship with God is getting lower as we acumulate certificates?

I think it is great to have Ph D, and it is perfect to have a spouse at that level. However, if the Degrees devalue our human relation or make us pompous, arogant and self-centred, then they are worthless,

We are not men or women by certificates but by our values and wisdoms.

I see what you're saying a lot of people that have degrees tend to adopt a very snobbish attitude with it too and think they now have the moral highground because they are book smart but I don't think my fam is like that at all. Even if my guy isn't as educated as the rest of us he should b cultured and able to join in our banter. Like I said, having a degree isn't tantamount to having superior intellect but it sure would help broaden one's perspective and knowledge on a myriad of issues.

I am not refering to your family but making general statement.

Look, there is this lady that dumped a man because he had OND! Imagine?

It piss me off when people try to draw attention to their certificate in r/ship.

At least you didn't make blanket condemnation. Maybe, you just have to train the guy.

@olanajim

do you write songs?  i think asha might find your words very inspirational. banter about whats so wrong in our modern world but it don't change a thing.
note these two things.
-the world is not ideal.
-there exist a  rule of compatibilty.(forget what you see in the movies)

humans have always had a social order.in prehistoric times the highest where the strongest, in historic times the richest, nowadays its both the richest and the smartest .
so recognize that an educated man would probably wed  an educated woman( at least to a piont reasonably close to his own). and its not a certificate thing alone but the socail thing.likes sorta attract.

@ post

should you even be asking?

yemivictor,

you are right! She dumped him for something else jare. Any wonder why the so called hyper-educated ladies are always found to be Sigar Mumies after trying several men and failed? In the end, they would end up as single parenthood.

Ladoy,

I don't sing and I don't listen to song either. Asha? Maybe I would be glad to be at her service.

I am not going to disagree with you. But I am telling you that it is about certificate in most cases. Take it or drop it. Most women are selfish when it come to that.

My brother went to Germany, years ago and returned with money. He fell in love with a rustic lady who attended UNAAB. He made her a lady of taste and attended to her needs. The wedding plan was in progress. Then after graduation, the lady suddenly remember that My brother does not posses Bsc! And the relationship ended just like that.

We must be wary of the few women that are using civilisation to destroy the moral fabric of our society. We must rather atmonish them instead of cuddling them as if they ar the nest best thing that ever happen to the universe.

I repeat, no matter how many degree a woman may acquire in her life, if she is not a family material, she is awaste to the society. She is a nuisaance to humanity!

On these forum, are exceptional ladies who possesses degrees and are very brilliant. you would be surprised to find out that they are not harboring this kind of reasoning. Women are free now and are expected to be liberated. We want there progress not their certificate.

By the way, are you one of the people who believe that certificate make a man great?
