I would have to say we need to get back to the best era of hip hop from around 1988 - 1994

That era had so many classic albums and they were all different kinds of hip hop. The problem with hip hop is that it is all the same.

Boggie Down Productions (KRS-ONE) - By any Means Necessary - Social Conscious Hip Hop
Public Enemy - It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back - Political Hip Hop
NAS Illmatic - Thug Conscious Hip hop (first album crowned one of the greatest lyricist.)
NWA Striaght Outta Compton - Gansta Hip Hop
Tribe Called Quest Low End Theory. - Jazz/Conscious Hip Hop,

that is just a small list and if you had an all time album list , those would be on it,

Whether it is that new song by Playaz Circle w/ Lil Wayne called Duffle Bag Boy or 50 Cent song called I GET MONEY, from North/ South/ East/ West, it is basically the same thing, and nothing really different. Now we do have Lupe, Kanye, Common, Talib, but it is far a few between,

You also had the Stop the Violence Movement, Artist actually tried to use there status to help the community, now most just want to just make money, You could see that with the Jena 6 issue, there was not many that open their mouth to say a thing, Only people like Mos, Bun B, Ice Cube, etc,

I have to say I do love that Soujah Boy Dance!! LOL!! Smiley

Naah you guys don't have any right to blame this on Jigga and Diddy they did sing a lot of meaningful songs i think i would blame this whole shit on the southern movement they spit some whack shit even though hip-hop is more of fun to them and not shit they take too serious.I was really digging NWA and Tribe called Quest back in the day

Look, as I said it before, i'll say it again, hip-hop is on serious life support and hanging on by a thread of hair.  At the same time hip-pop is emerging.  GOSPEL HIP-HOP IS THE WAVE OF THE FUTURE FOR ME!!!

I don't think that Hip Hop is on life support. I just think this era of Hip Hop is on life support. This era has lasted a lot longer than any other. The reason is that it is being pushed by the people that sit on the boards of Song BMG, EMI, Universal, and Warner.

I enjoy Gospel Hip Hop, but I wouldn't put it in a different category. It is the same music genre. You are just speaking on different topics. I know people that are artist that are Christians, They will still say they are Hip Hop Artist.

Hip Hop is not one type, That is what is messed up now.
