Holy Smokes. this picture is unbelievable to me o. we just see people washing and burning and smiling. washing , burning and smiling for what? Or at what? All i see is just a black lump of something, which is neither flesh nor meat or whale o. I don't still believe this pic o. why didnt he get a picture of the head part? to me this is not a true evidence. if u were to present this pic in the court of law as evidence, u know what will happen. u would be charged o. so please give us a correct pic to show ur claims. and as far as i know, i am a nigerian and a proud one, we are poverty stricken, all well, but as i dey c d people for this pic so, they aint nigerians o. they look like seme people,or whatever people living around that border, but not my fellow nigerians sha. we need true evidence ooooooooo.and as for the person that posted this forum, u aint nice at all, i mean look at the heading. Do u have to insult Lagosians like that? what u mean by food-hungry Lagosians Hack On Dead, Smelly Whale - Food Is Ready? Na wa.

We are not rich but we are not poverty stricken.
I think I may have been tempted to go and get a portion of such if I was there. Not necessarily because I am hungry and starving to death but because of the novelty of it.
Just because it is happening in Nigeria, we have to tie it down to poverty. how many Nigerians do you think are actually unable to, one way or the other, feed themselves daily?
make we no dey follow yeye thoughts jare

That post of yours just blew whatever credibility you have here away @Dudu, I am not sure you have ever been in Nigeria before for making such a claim and I would advice you go do your homework

) LMAO , why are you trying that excuse for them ?? LMAO , am not trying to find an excuse.but am thinking i'll probably want to pose for a pic just to remind me of the event.am also very curious to want to get really close and examine the body structure of the whale and will also take a chunk off it to examine since i may not get the chance to see a whale for the rest of my life.though if the smell is overpowering, then i may not even entertain the idea. But as i see it,they are fascinated by the discovery and if u know the area in question,a little excitement will probably last for days because i think its damn boring in that area of the state. Again the topic is way too off course.anyways Badagry people as i know them do not eat dead fish because there's fish in abudance in that area.the excitement is caused by the size of the fish. even poverty is not an excuse because this peeps are prolly fresher than we that live in the heart of lagos because of the kind of fresh food they eat.(y do u think village peeps always live longer than city peeps.)

I think its rather ignorant to keep calling a whale a fish,it is a mammal @Almondjoy try and watch wild life programmes ,then you won't need convincing that this picture is that of a whale

I have read some comments and lots of you are miffed that HUNGRY PEOPLE hack meals off a DEAD WHALE. To set the issue in the proper perspective.
ICE FISH, sold in Mile 2 or Mile 12 market is also DEAD FISH. Eating it does not make anybody an APE! Only few people the world over have the luxury to catch, kill and eat their own FISH FRESSSSSHHHHHHHH.
Given, it might have died of natural causes or it might have died diseased, but it is still ICE FISH.
Kapish!!

All I can say it that thanks to my lucky stars---before I ever get to Nigeria--this "object" in question would have gone out of cirulation. No telling whose cooking pot it will end up in in the months to come. May God help us all. This is an oil-producing "wealthy" nation. This is so shameful. See the people around the "object" and you really have to feel sorry for "us" collectively. Hail Fashola and his "Beautiful Lagos"!!!--This is a real security breach---a submarine of aliens can as well wash up our shores and our sleeping naval officers would be dead by the time it hits the dunes. What a country! What else would wash up off the shores of the Lagoons in Nigeria----"NEMO"? Or "Man from Atlantis"

You are laughing Kobojunkie? How a whole massive whale can just float "belly-up" to the shores of Nigeria undetected really beats me. It could have been a remote controlled nuclear device then. You think if it was in another country with "real" borders, this would go undetected? The whale not only floated undisturbed, but chose an appropriate burial site by balancing it's humongous being within the reach of the "hungry" masses.
What is all this talk about Seme border? Are Seme people not Nigerians? When you do not have "border" patrol--this is what happens. I am happy to observe that the "people" shown at the barbecue pit are robust and agile. They may not be Nigerians then, come to think of it.

BAD POINT. Would you buy Ice Fish that was half putrid and smelling of decay? You would, eh? Here you have a mammal washed up on shore, already decaying and dead of undertermined causes. I, for one, would not rush to eat such a thing. I see something wrong in the whole picture and the Ice Fish analogy is just plain silly.

@smoothali So something isn't true just because you 'don't think it's true'? Weird. Besides, this was in the Newspapers, and not just somebody posting stuff online. please refrain from posting in all Caps, it's considered rude in all discussion forums, and it's the text equivalent of shouting. Cease/Desist
