Thanks.  I was lucky to get one good picture (out of 46) despite poor preparation.

Here's another one which is badly distorted because the surface of the water in my basin was being pumelled by the wind.

Bad, bad preparation.

Eev so you rose to the challenge in double quick time and at least you had a camera charged and ready so at least those without and those far away (like moi) can see what you took and feel less disappointed they didnt see it to be honest through my black welders glass I was able to look straight at the sun but all I saw was like a fingernail shape I think your pix are better!!

NEXT TIME, LOL! Shine ya eye, The last Eclipse of the Sun was last seen in 1947,  So Seun, given God's Goodspeed and Grace, 2006 - 1947 = 59 speculative years interval. You should be praying to double the average Nigerian life expectancy put presently at 77yrs old given whatever age u are in rite now. And by then you will not be admin on nairaland anymore but watching from the sidelines as Seun (Jr) takes Nairaland to the Next LEVEL!!!

Wait, there are more pictures.  The Eclipse is now at it's darkest point but the digital camera I borrowed is already out of battery power, so you'll have to manage the ones below:

kajad: right now it's dark like it is at 7pm, but it's 10:25am!  You can take the pictures directly now!  No water basin needed!

@keshin
Be patience, the eclipse is surely in those hazey clouds, but please don't look rite into it. Get a phone with a cam or something.

Yewande, O4Real: You're right, there probably won't be a next time.  Well, with that last set of pictures, I can't say I didn't experience the solar eclipse.  Isn't it funny how we're all obsessing over a solar eclipse?  Cheesy

Maxflame: please post your pictures and videos as soon as possible.  Send them to me if you want some pre-processing done or if the videos are very large.  I can upload them directly.

My own contribution to the post. I was late to grab my camera but lucky to get this shot of the moon starting to reveal the sun. Other shots are too blurry to share.

how cool was that eh?

Nice though, feels like nature or whatever is really in charge when you witness something like that, otherwise we forget the sun is there don't we! When its not we get all excited only because we know it wont last, what if due to global warming it did in fact go out for us always,  Mmmm  well just a thought, lets not spoil the moment  Wink

Loving all the pics, Maxflame your toenail one is excellent! Grin

It'll be a looong time before you see another total eclipse in that neck of the woods.
