I always knew I had a talent for writing but had never taken time to develop this talent. I write this piece for two reasons: One, to develop my writing skills and two, to showcase the trials of an unemployed graduate in Nigeria. I'll try to update this column as least twice a week Isha Allah. I hope you enjoy reading my journal,
From the moment I was born everyone knew I would be great. When I was barely three years old, my mum gave me a nick name which has stuck with me ever since. The name is in her local dialect but means ‘Big woman’ in English. I have since asked her why she gave me this name but she has still not given me any satisfying answer. Was it because I acted wiser than my age, even as a small child, or was it just a prophecy? If it was a prophecy, then that prophecy is yet to be fulfilled.
Now, it is three years since I graduated from the university; two years since I served my nation; two years since I last got a paid job.You know what this means, don't you? Hmm , When am I going to be what I ought to be…?
