I’m already telling people not to go close to polytechnic oo; else they will suffer like me; they will be under employed and earn little or no respect from the society that attach significance to paper qualifications.

While asking government to scrap polytechnic education in Nigeria lets wait and see what will happen to polytechnics and HND holders in some months to come. May be things will become favourable for them.

hahahahahahahaha, HND-holder you go kill person oo. no body knows when Jesus christ will come back. But i stronly believe things will change soonest. Most of us with HND are already feeling the good coming. OBJ's pronouncement is little hope at least, and it is better than no hope at all. NBTE are already making arrangement with some universities in UK to accept nigerian HND certificate direct for Msc programs there, and so on. So hope still dey!!

There is no point deceiving oneself about this HND/BSc thing. HND does not worth it.
I am an ordinary NYSC(copper) from University of Lagos with a BSc in Chemical Engineering.
It only took me 2 months after starting my NYSC in a food company in Nigeria before I was made a supervisor and controlling people that graduated from the polytechnique while I was still in the secondary school. So there is no point deceiving oneself about this HND.
If you have your way, run from Polytechnic and rather go to Niger Delta University than going to Yabatech

Hnd-holder, congractulation on ur successful educational pursuit. But the truth is that u know that your case is one out of like a 100 unlike the BSc where you can have as much as like say 20 out of 100. So it remains to say that you were exceptional than your peers and luck was strongly on your side that is why things went out for you.
Even BSc get descriminated that is why 2-2 are finding it hard to get a job.
2-1 does not even give you a guarantee of getting a job but broaden your chances of getting a job eventually atleast you will be invited for a test unlike most hnd holders that apply for jobs without even given a fair chance of proving themselves by not being invited for selection test.

2good, u don't talk like a rational man. I,m in doubt of ur so called BSc in chemical engineering; why is it not a BEng? Pally forget this thing some of you are hiding behind BSc when obviously you don't merit it. Who has told you that you will get a good job before people with HND? a lot of guys with HND are gainfully employed and are heads of dept/unit in their companies. Things will change very soon my guy; infact things ve started changing, and you will not be able to supervise guys with HND again. Some ED's and MD's of big nigerian companies have HND. We will soon know who is who!! No hide behind certificate o! come out and prove yourself and ur degree or HND or what ever qualification u claim to have acquired.

hahahahaha, HND-holder, u are funny. Anyway sha the political game was well played by people like you. Kudos!! Very soon the govt will soon be giving priority to people with technical background especially graduates from universities of technology and polytechnics in science, technology and engineering courses. That means to say people with 4 years Bsc/BA will no longer have the opportunity to be ahead of technologists. Make una start fight that one now oo. After all we need more technologists and engineers in the country now. What will then happen is that people with Bsc/BA from conventional universities will start from level 08 in the civil service while people with BTech/BEng/HND in science/Technology and engineering courses will start from level 09. How about that? I know u guys can play that game and win. Laffs!!!! hahahahahahahaha. Why BA History, BA Hausa, BA Yoruba and so on go dey start from level 08 with scienctists & technologists sef? sebi OBJ say sociology and masscomm no get significance to the nation! HAHAHAHAHA.
Make una try enact that one again, u go see how people go dey rush to buy poly forms. Hahahahahahahahaha.

I trust you, they must pay oo. The other battle has been won already. We should be looking ahead to fighting and winning the next one; which is giving priority to science, technology and engineering, but must be BTech/BEng or HND o!!. Na there we go know who be who. Those guys have been hiding behing certificates. We go soon bring all of them out. please use ur good position to recommend that to govt, and if it works u will not be able to see poly JAMB form to buy for ur child if u did nt go in time because it will be over subscribed.

It is a Good plan if we can ask FCT minister to loan us Dozers or Mama nafdac to help with some chemicals that can deal with these set of ONLY certificate without action. Do you know any one we can employ? what of EFCC man? can he do the job well?

Hnd-holder and Ismael U guys are both funny ooooooooooooooooooo. Infact is our fault that you guys both ended in the polytechnic? Why not let what will be to be, instead of blasting the Bsc holder like us for what we didnt cause, after all you U did saw both Uni JAMB and Poly JAMB form before you opted to go to Polytechnic.
I am not happy you guys are going through what U are experiencing now because I have friends that are having thesame problem with HND all I did was to give my own contribution, but you guys took it personal on me and other BSc. holders but that does not change anything in my life because I am still doing my assigned duty as an Engineer and you Ismael, U asked why I don't have B Eng. but BSc, that is because the almighty UNILAG awards BSc. for Engineering courses and that is where I finished from.
I wish you both( Hnd-holder and Ismael) success in your REBEL fight against BSc. holder.

2good, we are not rebels. Attending a university does not make u better or more skillful than those of us that attended polytechnics; abi you think say u better pass us? prove yourself to people that you are an Engineer by doing what Engineers do and stop parading yourself as an Engineer simply because you have a Degree in Engineering. After all People pay money to get Degrees in nigeria; na lie? Would you call such people with Degrees in Engineering (bought with money) Engineers?

Cynthia, point of correction; you did a DIPLOMA course in UNIABUJA and not ND. Universities don't run ND programs, only polytechnics do ND programs in nigeria.

I think its necessary to accept that HND or BSC is a thing of the mind,I am speaking as a holder of both HND and BSC qualification, therefore i am not taking sides with any one and it will be fully appreciated if u are not being  deceived by Ur paper/certificate u are carring about.I want to say categorically that  not all BSC holder can stand an HND holder if properly juxtaposed
take a visit to some banks even after consolidation,u still find BSC holders employed as CONTRACT STAFF
At any rate,u may wish to consider 2.1 and  2.2 grades,if a person graduates with 2.2 the general opinion in Nigeria is that the person is not too good, this is also applicable to the holders of HND holders.People like Fola Adeola of GTB has his foundation from the Polytechnic ,yet he discriminates, therefore,u are free to make a logical conclusion that there is no basis to discriminate if he can take GTB to that level,Go to ICAN the records are there to show that HND holders are very relevant in the scheme of things.Lets try to broaden our minds and address the curricular and the modus operandi of our educational system because most guys ruling us don't have this HND or BSC so what is the hulla baloo all about? If they do what has been their contribution since the monster started tormenting the HND holders
Afterall,Yabatech had been existing over 30 years before some Universities were born in Nigeria. Please note,i am not saying hear that HND is better than BSc or vise versa but am just trying to put it forward that you don't completely ignore the relevance of both qualification.

If you find HND good, why do you waste your time looking for BSc?  at least another 4 years before you obtain it ,that is waste of time!  we want to know. If not for anything you should have being work for that 3-4 years. This is what we are saying . They should close down the polytechnic thing then.
