The Black Man

I agree that things do not seem so well with the black man at the moment but you have great men around the world in the mold of Mandela, Mo Ibrahim, Johnson (Ebony), Parson (Timewarner), Powell, Obama, Soyinka, Achebe,  If you look deeply there are everywhere

I think the problem of the balack man stems from the fact that our environment was never a challeging one so we just sat back, married wives, played music (we invented jazz and rock y'know) and just laid back unlike our white brothers whose lives were compounded with typhoons, hurricanees etc

Also socially we are still at the lowest stage of development. we believe in a hierachical system that edifies our leaders even if they are wrong, sit and die style leadership and no form of accountability (or corporate governance as it is called now) in our dealings.

So talking of running things down even Enron and Parmalet failed bacause of lack of corporate govenance and accoutability.

I think we all need to rise up and demand better from our leaders where ever we are

1)Firstly I would like to know where the contributions on this subject will end. To start with the current black generation have no idea of what happened in the 16 th Century up to today on the African Continent since the history we are now engaged in was never taught in Schools unless the school education system changed few years ago but if you are in the mid thirties I doubt much if you have the current history taught to our brothers and Sisters today.

2) Egypt in the Ancient times was a stable Country in terms of Economics and Finances and we read in the Bible how the Israelities found themselves being slaves in Egypt. When the Israelities where set free by the hand of GOD as HE promised to ABRAHAM ( the father of Faith), they did not turn back to Egypt , they moved forward as we all know today.

3) Having said that, African Countries are free of Colonisation today and it's time that we move forward, I know there are challenges that we need to conquer.( Economic imbalances that were left by the colonies)

4)Slavery of cause left a mark that will never be forgotten in our lives. I fully agree with Blackcat that " all  black leaders  and African  Presidents " within Africa and Abroad should  get together when they meet at the AU meetings and  the issue our brothers and Sisters who were sold into slavery by our own Great- great great grand parents should be addressed. There must be a reunion that must take place. I cannot be at peace here in Windhoek while the truth have been revealed to us.

5) Dr Claude Anderson ,founder of Harvest Institute have written good books on blacks back in the 16 th Century up to where the black race is today and he has highlighted keys actions that we need to do as a race. Check www.harvestinstitute.org for more information.

6) Our forefathers when selling their brothers into slavery used to demonstrate their  strength and Power to the White Men who happen to be helped by a black folk before a deal could be concluded. The current generation ( black race like boasting and showing of too much). Dancing kwasa - kwasa and Ndombolo , and other invented music by African American etc, even today is what the black race like doing most, not all of us. After the Civil war in America , blacks of that generation were left roaming on the street asking for food from whites  " The Nigger in the wood pile expression "came about When black folks started having  sexual affairs with White ladies after cutting fire woods " Read the books by Dr Claude ANDERSON. There were no gas stoves at that time .We need to learn to build and save for our Grand children and start to think seven generation from now on.

7) For your records I'm writting from Windhoek Namibia and I'm black. When an African for example gets a Chance to study in Europe or America, at the completion of the course instead of getting information on the CD's e.g IT to come build an IT company home, He ( not women) exports  depreciating assets
( e.g Cars ,Clothing etc) and  an Asian boy or Girl e.g leaves all depreciating assets and takes information and  forms an IT company when back home.

8)Some of the things which some  highly educated blacks (PHD holders) still do today, is consulting Sangoma's or so called Traditional healers when visiting their uncle's and Aunt's at the villages just like in the time's of the chaka Zulu. Check African Movies )

9) We need a complete a new mind set in our thinking.  We have to take our own leaders to task on issues that will help us rebuild the Continent. There is no more time for marrying 15 wives  This current generation should do away from polygamy.

I don't believe he/she is pretending to be white or has white issues at all. There is a thread on nairaland on James Watson that will better explain what he/she thinks. I mean it is funny but I don't believe he pretends to be white. LMAO!!!

Denex thinks he is BROWN and not BLACK!   

It is a matter of looking beyond 2000 years and see how humanity has toiled to this present day.

What makes people who they are is about what people wants to be,it is about precedence,hard work and sacrifice.The precedence we have now because we can learn from other races,but the question is,what are we doing about it?for those of us abroad,are we going to remain abroad and be complaining that things are bad and that our leaders are not doing anything about it?meanwhile we are the leaders,we are the people,we got to begin to let go this comfort zone we call abroad and pay the price of setting a pace for a stable future.

We need to go back to africa enmass and massively effect and change the  mindset of the populace,die if you have to but stick to the plan.Personally i feel embarass hanging out in europe,while my father's land is crying out for help and development,every little helps.

The brain is like musles,it expands while you push,opens up to what you want but you have to ask.It is about what we are not doing right,it is about losing touch with reality. This is the time for us to reverse the syndrome,because we now know and just a generation can change this things.

Thanks funloving for raising a vital question. I believe that a problem is 50% solved when we identify that a problem exists, and the greatest problem facing us as a people is not the backwardness of the the black race but the failure to recognise that a problem exists and living in a state of denial as done by many people in this forum.

Having said these, I believe i have the answers to your questions and I know that 90% of you would not even comprehend the reason not to talk of agree with me. Because it would mean viewing changing our whole perception of ourselves and life as a whole, and as you know breaking of our beliefs systems and perception is tantamount to suicide to majority of humans especially blacks. it is our psychological security. so i will slowly and gradually explain the reason why we are backward as a people, some not of our doing while others is entirely our fault. It will take many posts to even begin to explain but i will try my best.

Before i start i will want to add more to your observations
We blacks have the least population among the races but the whites would have us feel we are overpopulated so we should reduce our population. But if you look at the statistics the number of blacks on the earth surface is less than 600 million, about half  the population of india but the white man is not talking about reducing asian population. when small europe became overpopulated, the colonized other continents so today the whites occupy almost every continent in the world with their total population runining into at least 1.5billion. Why i added this observation to show that even from the position of population we are backward and if there is a war among the races today (hypothetical that is) the blacks stand no chance.

A man who  is a good example of the power of capitalism, by the way !!

America happens to be one of the most advanced countries on the planet and yet religion places a huge part in the lives of over 90% of the population of the people. Even Scientists in the highests ranks will tell you that religious remains an integral part of their lives from the dude that heads the National Science Foundation in America who happens to be a "Born again" Christian. He believes in miracles and even consider's his life and work miracles. Again, Are you sure that what you think is africa's problem is close to Africa's reality??

The current population in Africa alone is 934 283 426 ( Millions) according to the Wikipedia. I think most of you contributing to this forum have access to information ( Libraries. internet etc) and other Christian leaders. Do are Research on Countries like Japan, and understand what they did to be where they are today.

BlackCat -  You hold a leader responsible and accountable for what they do wrong while in Power by voting them out of office and vote someone with Good Leadership qualities. Currently most African Nations (People) still vote for a president because s/he is from a  certain Ethnic Group or Tribe. We have to do away with such thinking and elect/vote for a president who can see generations not 10 years downline.

Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, is a Christian  leader. In fact I'm in the process to buy his book titled What is wrong with being Black. So I suggest you do the same.
