Amala And Gbegiri Lovers` Forum
« on: November 10, 2007, 05:34 PM »

OKA (called amala by ajebos) is serious business, very serious matter, i must add. i am a big fan of it and tell you what, when i can help it, i am ready to gorge myself into it everyday.

but the problem is it not everybody that can prepare it very well. so, you often see men journey to far distance to where they know they can get the right stuff.

so please, if you know one damn good place they make correct Amala and Gbegiri where you live, share the address with us.

There used to be one serious joint, just inside Hilton drive off Allen Avenue, doubt if they still there. Amala with Eja-kika, ponmo, orishirishi, Egusi drenched in very red palm-oil  Cool

Also that buka across from Agbowo shopping complex outside You .I. , world class. Then my favourite, inside the A.P junction, Akarabata in Ife. very serious gbegiri with bokoto, cowtail, etc.

Ibadan people are the specialists however, plenty of joints at Iwo-Road, Challenge, Beere etc.

The best amala I ever ate was the one prepared by a room in Federal Poly Ado-Ekiti, in Ekiti State. The guy prepared it like a professional!  I could eat it without soup! Really hot, black and shinning! All these with freshly made ewedu soup.

If you want to eat correct amala and gbegiri for the rest of your life, make sure you marry someone from my hometown, Ogbomosho. We sure know how to throw it down.

Learnt how to make amala from my grand-aunt. I just love the shining, black color with no koko o. Definitely having me some amala and efo riro with dried fish tomorrow after church.
