Need To Buy An Inverter
« on: November 12, 2007, 09:08 AM »

I have decided to buy an inverter to as a backup to my generator( can't be disturbing the neighbours at 3 am)

i've browsed through nairaland and come across several posts from different vendors. I would appreciate it if i could get recommendations from satisfied customers, users who have been using the units for over a year.

also, will the inverter require a stabiliser?

whats the difference in cost between a manual and automatic one?

is there a limit to the number of batteries i can hook up to the inverter?

Seun, i found that you've made a lot of enquiries; what inverter are you using now?

I'm looking at a 1-2kva inverter, that will carry lights, tv, freezer standing fan and 2  laptop.

a friend bought a 1KVA inverter at cash and carry(25000) he bought the battery sepeartely

There's a company that regularly advertises a manual inverter for 16,000 or so in the Guardian.

I bought an automatic one for 28,000.  I don't know if that was cheap.  The guy keeps raising prices.

Everybody wants inverter. Inverter systems must be properly designed and setup otherwise you will join over 60% of Nigerians with bad experiences.

Ask a lot of questions because these units will be working all the time considering the fact that once you pay for one you cannot get your money back, you will of course get so many excuses why the system is not performing as promised.

See www.justalternativepower.com and get to know what is necessary before getting an inverter system.

try the gaoxing inverter, the one thats always been advertised in guardian newspapers, have been using it 4 about 6mnths  now.no  wahala.its 1.2kva max, 800va steady supply, it also has overload protector  n  built in charger,,,though if u intend to use a battery of more than 100amps, u have 2 get an external charger to support it,
the cost is anywhere between  14k  n  25k, [inverter alone], depending on where u buy it, it can carry a small fridge/freezer, but everyother thing has 2 off before starting the fridge, when the fridge starts, u can then switch on your lights,
i am using the white energy bulbs, 18w  , n its carrying my entire house, ie apart from the acs  n  water heater, if u gat a 29inch tv, u can use it 2gether with the fridge, it will trip the overload protector,

cheers
nb; am looking 4 a cheap source of original inverter batteries, 3 pieces of 100amp, anybody with ideas on where i can get very good ones?

From the stable of www.electrical-project.com comes the all new Automatic power change-over switch. You need not leave your bed to switch between your genarating set and the PHCN source. The intelligent automatic changeover switch does the switching,if there is power failure. As soon a power is restored, the Generator cut-off and  switches over to PHCN automatically and vice versa.
Sizes  ranging from  1KVA generators to 1000KVA.
