i thought as much. . , not that he really cares about the people that he wants to hear comments from, he just want to assess them in his poor judgment and have something to laugh about. i can't understand how people respond to a person who has obviously been fooling people with meaningless lies. this is the dantecmu who claims to have travelled all europe, he also claims to have his master degree and has served nysc at 21, and he now has 2 years work experience in his 23 years of age? this guy should be flogged in public

Nigerians will keep leaving Nigeria in droves until Quality of life improves. Money or the lack of it is not what is sending people out of Nigeria. It is the extremely low qualityof life vis a vis the high level of insecurity.
You can't compare the average nigerian life with that of an illegal nigerian overseas. The only thing that you get to loose outside is your pride and dignity.
My advise is this: If you want to live overseas illegally(though not a good option), then leave Nigeria with a lot of money. Think out of the box and provide a service, don't always be thinking Job,job, job.
There are services you can provide and make some healthy money.
Because really quality of life down here is way low. And believe me I've lived outside 4 a while & and trust me you can't compare!

I have lived in the USA for over a decade now. Left Naija right after college (No NYSC) Have I had regrets,No Huge challenges Yes I was blessed to have come as an exchange student, with a J visa not a visitor.
If I had a wand,I would give every Nigerian the opportunity to live in the west and cater for themselves for 6 months. Many would see that it's not all peaches and cream. This place is not easy in the beginning. But I would not discourage anyone bent on emigrating as long as the individual does their research before doing so With determination, faith in God and a conviction that you are doing what is best for you,you will succeed. Britain is tougher to assimilate into, small, overcrowded, unemployment, overt racism and discrimination. If you want to emigrate come to America and do a few things and you will be fine. In the USA,there is shortage of health care professionals,as long as the individual is willing to be a Nurse, rural physician, rural pharmacist or even in inner cities (ghettos) they'll practically give you a green card with a contract that you serve in this area for a number of years as stipulated in the contract. I did it and I have remained in a rural practice because I love it,less hassle, less stress. But to go to school here, if you are not already in those professions, you must have a relative willing to be a cosigner for your school loans and it was easy to convert from a visitors visa to a student visa before your visitors visa expired, don't know if that has changed.
The illegal way of marrying for papers has put many in deep trouble,I would not advise such For anyone willing to emigrate,do your homework, ask questions, get educated about the prospects and if you are young and still willing,do it. Many have done it and succeded against all odds and so can you.

I am rather new to nairaland, but i enjoy the forum and diverse opinions.
At people crucifying the poster as fake, fact stands its a good topic & makes good read. Even if he wasnt for real, someone somewhr could do with the advise & opnions, so please,
At the topic in question.
I am a legal resident in the UK but can give 1st hand opinion on the gist.
I wouldnt advise anyone to dream of remaining in the UK as an illegal resident for too many reasons.
1) Everywhere in the world comes with its own problems, with Nigeria its many physical, the sun, no money, food or oppression. With the UK its psychological. Its really mental here and bad enough for even their citizen and legal people, worse still for illegal immigrants. The UK has the highest rate of depression, mental illness, anxiety etc. You have children as little as 2 having this. before coming to the UK i thought this was a joke, but i have experienced it as well. So with the amount of depression & stress available for free you don't want to add to urs by being undercover & fear constantly.
2) The law of the UK is as your earn you spend. Even the average UK citizen can't save up to 5% on annual earnings in year. Latest poll the average debt is about £36000 per adult, many die from the worry. There is every tax u can think on, council tax, income tax, car tax, u r eben taxed £135 per year to watch the TV u bought with your own money, even if the actual TV cost you £10 to buy off the fleas market. To break even in the UK, u need to be a high income earner, ie about 30000 and above.
3) Discrimination: it is a land of opportunities, no denial, but its not so straight forward. Some jobs u'd be told is for UK citizens alone or u need to have a british PP. So imagine the short changing when the PP u have is even illegal.
4) there are several measures in place & also nation wide cry about the illegal immigrants. Gone are the days when once got, u get a free ride back home, now you serve a jail terms before you are deported. Now been to prison is been to prison, its leaves it trauma & scars on you. Literally, U'v been there & done that!
there loads more reasons, i could go on & on & the tale wont end.
If u are leagl the UK is cool though with its ups & downs, with the right orientation & mind set you can excel. The only way i can advise anyone to be in the UK illegally if if all hope is lost for u in Nigeria, ie u sleep under the bridge, drink from the gutter & there's been 6 murder attempts on your life in the last 7 days, otherwise u r better off bro!

No GP for 600,000 illegals immigrants in UK Illegal immigrants and failed asylum seekers could be barred from receiving free GP care. The ban is part of a Government strategy to encourage them to return home. They would be blocked from obtaining anything but emergency care in casualty departments, under the joint Home Office and Department of Health plan. Last night, critics questioned whether the ban would deter anyone who is willing to break the law to live here. he 600,000 affected would simply turn to hospitals for treatment, placing greater pressure on resources, they warned. Tory immigration spokesman Damian Green said: "The only real solution is to remove people who have no right to live in this country. "If the Government continues to allow hundreds of thousands of people to live here illegally there are inevitably going to be extra strains on the health service and all other public services." Government guidance sent to GPs states they should not normally treat failed asylum seekers and illegal immigrants. http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/article-23425264-details/600,000%20illegal%20immigrants%20to%20be%20barred%20from%20GP%20care/article.do?expand=true#StartComments

Life in UK is not as easy as you think. I can give you a first hand information that even their own people (whites) are emigrating in droves either to Canada or the US.
Think it through properly before pursuing a journey of uncertainty. As one of the contributors mentioned, you will pay tax for everything. I have relatives who have very good jobs there as Citizens and they are doing well by every standard. But the quality of life in the UK(especially London) is not what people think it is.
So now imagine when one does not even have the correct papers to work? Going to any country without the right papers is like put yourself into a bondage. Wait patiently for God's timing if it is in His agenda that you will live abroad. I love a Bible verse which says He makes things beautiful in His own time.
My believe has always been that God should lead me to my place of planting( which can be anywhere). For when one is there, you will surely prosper!

Life in the UK is good for experience. Whether living in UK as a legal or illegal resident, you are sure to gain some experience which can be good or bad. Some people had it all nice in UK and some had it real rough in the UK. I see no reason why you will have a good job in Nigeria and still want to come and be a job-seeker / illegal immigrant in the UK. In life, there is this crazy phenomenon which I see happening all over the place. I have noticed that there are some set of people, when they have good things, they strive in all possible ways to spoil it and make it bad. It is after they have scattered and spoilt their lives, that is when they start calling God to help repair it again. My advice: Keep your job, come to UK on visa and see how things are. Interview some illegal immigrants & if what you hear is good, according to your standards, then make your choice, whether to go back to Nigeria and continue with your work, or stay in UK as an illegal immigrant. P.S. Make sure you interview illegal immigrants when you visit the UK.
