I Am Interested In Graphics Design - What's The 1st Step?

Dear Nairalanders,

I am a Web developer and I do some little web design with my little knowledge of Fireworks. Now I want to learn Graphics design to enable me advance further in my industry.

Well, I know Corel Draw and Photo shop but I have Zero experience with any of them. I have never laid my hands on Corel or Photo shop.

I therefore request your guidelines and if possible references on what I should do and how to start.
