Comparing DSTV And HiTV
« on: November 17, 2007, 04:28 AM »

DSTV and HiTV are no match at all. most  Nigeria investors will never do any thing meaningful.  What's  HiNews, HiNolly?

We claim to be giants of Africa but there is no evidence.  The only good thing is the sports station, but we don't watch sports 24 hours a day.( and not a priemership TV  either)

South africa DsTV has dominated the Nigerian market for too long.  Can't we stop them?  We need to act fast, Not THIS HI-STUFF

What do you think about DSTV nd HI-TV?  Will DSTV ever have a heavy competitor from the Nigerian market?

The market is big enough for a thousand and one competitors to DSTV, if only they can be granted broadcast licenses.

This is an irresponsible statement. Please speak for yourself! I agree that HITV is probably enjoyed at present by those who want to spend so much time watching football, but to say Nigerians as a whole will never do anything meaninful is grossly irresponsible.

This forum was started by a Nigerian and if it is not meaningful then what the hell are you doing here?

At a point in our existence when we are saying that it has never been better being Nigerain than now and we are trying our danmest best to rise above the way we have been painted negatively, there comes such a denouncement from someone whose thoughts must be surely peurile

I guess you were not bouyant enough to afford DSTV 10years ago so you are unaware  of what their beginings were like.

If HITV misses the mark some other Nigerian company will get it right and God knows they don't need filthy declarations from those whose thinking has surely become redundant. Pssssssssssssst

these things take time, and DSTv also contributed in killing some Nigerian satellite providers like FSTv by denying right to broadcast seemingly free channels like CNN, the regulatory body should step in and support indigenous companies.

I think people who have used both (DSTV & HITV) can know better. Traded my dstv for hitv because i wanted to support Naija Sad Sad Sad. Now i know which is better (i no wan yab them oo but God dey?).

But i think av learnt a valuable lesson not to invest my money in epileptic coy with no good interest for Nigerians. Would pay a foreigner and enjoy qualitative services. Angry

I think I love what HiTV has done by striking hard to break the DSTV monopoly! The snatching of the premiership sounds like a David & Goliath story to me.It makes me proudly Nigerian.

However, knowing the nature and strength of the adversary(DSTV), haba, HiTV could have done much better with programming and stations.

Hence, 4 now, I'm keeping my DSTV and waiting patiently for good news from HiTV, thence I will gladly throw my DSTV in the trash can!

Till then, I can only support HiTV on forums like this but not with my "sweat and Go-slow" earned cash.

I have never seen a baby walk immeadiately, but wit love, support and practise, walkin n running become natural skills.Same rule of life can be applied to Hitv, its a great feat they got the premiership rights in the first place.

You would be amazed at the extent to which foreigners have so much stake n control over our economy.

Lets support everything Nigerian,if only 4Patriotism sake!

this comparism is very wrong, dstv started with mnet in 1992 or 1993 if am not mistaking and hitv is just some months old,in another 10yrs we should be able to compare.

FUNWEEZ

Good 1,
the problem with nigerians is that we never trust ourselves, the dumbness some people communicate with is funny, how can you compare a 25 yr old athelete to a 10 yr old kid?I mean its no point.
I may blame Hitv for now,but in the next 3yrs,we ll appreciate them, and these same people will hail them.

I feel so sad when i see the way foreigners control our economy, esp S/A.I hope God takes us there with this new Govt
Lets support our own, even though i am pissed at their servicehaving to use DSTV n HITV is not funny.
Lets just bear with them,by the way when next will another new station be unveiled???

Right---Right---Right, but come to think of it, South Africans can never allow Nigerians to control their air wave, I have some of them in my office, at first they looked down on us (Nigerians), but when we show them that this is not South Africa they ran away,

The problem is with us and not the South Africans. We should really make our system work and heap blames on them (foreigners). For now hitv cannot be compared to dstv and if they really want to meet up then they need to really buckle up and make their thing to work.

Thanks but that guy really got u annoyed. I also don't like it when fellow Nigerians bring down their own. iF HITV fails, let another Nigeria company take up the challenge.Nigerians are not dullards. We can do anything. Thats what i believe.I don't know about u.

I also think that comparisim is unfair cme on HITV's just starting you don't expect them to just beat a BIG boy like DSTV overnite moreover 4 nw they mre into nigerian stuffs just to promote our entertainment industry ' 4 god's sake the 1st all nigerian music station Ni'gezie cme give the guy sme kudos after all Chanel O is basically theirs as 4 me am about 2 get me HITV F DSTV am done with their sabi sabi

I believe HITV shows basically Nigeria Globacom league abi? (dstv shows our league matches) why una buy hitv no be because of premiership? so which one be make we support our own? Huh agreed Nigezie and Primetime is our own (kudos to them) but what of the rest that promote foreign cultures?

Make una dey talk objectively abegeeee!

Proudly and extremely Nigeria

Rome definitely was not built in a day

surely HItv will improve over time and bring more channels onboard

even dstv is still looking for more channels to add even after 10 years

Thanks to HITV the price of dstv will crash soon

competition is the essence of captialism

soon HITV will improve and give us what we yearn for, THE BEST

for now lest support them

, go go go HITV

I think people like Kosovo or whatever he calls himself should bury their head in shame. If nigerians are not doing anything they will complain, now someone has taken the bull by the horn and you re calling for his head.
Anyway its a choice, i don't think anybody had forced money aout of your pocket to buy HiTV.

I strongly believe that Rome was not built in a day and HiTV will get their acts together very soon!!

Lets encourage our own!!!

@ndubest

Do u think the monthly sub of 4k is a fair price from HITV for just viewing the premiership alone? Compare this to 9k offered by dstv with many movies and musical channels?

Re: Comparing DSTV And HiTV

Comparing DSTV and HITV is a good thing that has ever happened to this forum, though we must have some things @ the back of our mind, i. e DSTV is 25 Year Old and HITV is 1 Year Old, DSTV managed by  grossly foreigners and HITV managed and controlled by Nigerians. These two are primary factors that should be considered before we talk about the both company. Having talked about this then we can say that it would be unfair to write out or condemn HITV as they have worked hard to be where DSTV never got in 10 Years of it establishment. HiTV is affordable and put the interest of her customers first in everything she does.

So please be mindful of what you say and lets be proudly Nigerian and support ours.

Thank you

HITV affordable? Ar u sure u know what u ar saying? 4k monthly subscription for 13 epileptic channels? Bros which one nah Huh Proudly Nigerian ko Proudly Nigerian ni! If u want to talk about proudly Nigerian, talk about Glo! They gave existing network in Nigeria a run for their money; cheaper ofcourse! HITV is trash! Angry
