Match against Man. City is a great decider.I pray it goes well, at least a draw. That will be wonderful and subsequently, we will swap positions with Chelsea.

you ll never walk alone
this is anfield
this season will be very rough but if we can put up a good run in the second half of the season like we alwys do i don't see why not
but a lot will be dependent on the 3 away matches against our 3 main rivals
if we can pick points there esp 3 againt united i don't see why not
as per champion league i really can't say lets see what happens in Feb
the league will go along way in determining our chances but i never write my boys out when it comes to that competition

as per jan transfers
all i need is 1 world class central defender that is not euro cup tied
where we are going to get that from i don't know apart from that i think the remaining is dependent on Rafa
if he can get david Villa, it will go a long way in us retaining the title next season
though david silva is not bad and of course Javier Mascherano must stay
aside from that i think we are in good shape

he can offlaod pennant, voronin, crouch maybe sissoko though im a fan he has not really impressed this season and i don't think his chances have been helped with the emergence of Lucas Lieva and of course the ever dependable Mascherano, alonso is also present in that position

First of, players I think should go are as follows:

Voronin
Kuyt
Sisoko
Crouch

Potential players in are:

Villa
Richards
Ramos
Mancini
Berbatov

Above all, we need to strengthen big time in defence (CD, LB and RB), we also need a good left winger as well as two quality goal poachers, not strikers.

omo u go need Bill Gates money to get all these people wey u list oo, ramos of madrid or another one dey???  the sam berbatov wey all amn wan buy for spurs?Huh and u want to sell our darling Dirk kuyt?Huh and by the way which richards are u talking about??? micah?Huh u must think Hicks and Gillets bought liverpool for fun like Roman, omo these ones are pure business men they are not there to throw monwty around

Villa will cost u like 20 mill PDS
Richards like 12-15 mill
Berbatov over 15 mill
Ramos i know madrid bought him 4 like 15 mill so u can guess how much they would sell him that is if they agree
mancini is not impossible and i think rafa tried to buy him in the summer don't know why the deal didnt go through

even mascherano common 17 mill we never get talkless of all these names u are calling, my huy lets be realistic when we dey talk all these things, and unless miracle happen i don't see how the names will be at Anfield this Jan

I agree,we need a quality central defender.rafa has been linked with tomaz ujfalusi ,kalahdze and ezequiel garay of florentina, milan and racing satander respectively.but i have seen la liga matches, and garay has been impressive.
On dirk kuyt,he had a great scoring record in feyernord, but he has been dissappointing in a way.he is not your average dutch striker.dutch strikers are known to be clinical and sharp shooters but dirk kuyt plays crude football like an african.i wont like to see him leave, because for all these i have listd,he is clearly an hardworker for the team.we still need him,but then whats d use of a striker who doesnt score.
We still need pennant because he has his own special qualities.
Sissoko can go.he was great in his first two years but he has dissappointd afterwards.we have enough cover in alonso, lucas and mascherano.
In a few words, some players can go if we can get adequate replacemnt.these players are crouch, risse, voronin.

First of all, please don't address me as omo.

Secondly, the players I listed does not mean we'll buy them all. We may end up buying just Villa - which will do fine for me. If we sold Sisoko, Crouch, Riise, Kuyt and Voronin (all have suitors except the last two), plus CL money accrued thus far, plus any available money in the kitty, we sure can get a world class player in the January transfer window. It's not impossible.

I wasn't being unrealistic about these players coming in - which is the reason why I said "potential" players - it doesn't imply that we need them all at once.

I understand.

The reason why Kuyt has to be sold is because he doesn't score enough goals like he did in the Dutch league. His workrate is outstanding, but at this stage, Liverpool don't need a workhorse, we need a finisher. Look at Manchester United, Tevez and Rooney work really hard as well, but they score goals. Even if they don't, defenders have to be on their toes. With Liverpool, the only dangerous goalpoacher upfront to cause defenders nightmares is El Nino. Even our wingers don't strike fear into the opposition say Ronaldo does. I'd have opted for Quaresma, but I don't think Rafa is interested. Plus, attitude is poor. His offensive play is brilliant, but his defending is nothing to write home about.

Wel, let's wait and see what will happen come January.

yeah i kind of agree with u on some points, yes kuyt hasnt scored enough goals, but look beyond the goals and think about what he brings to the team, he is a substandard version of Drogba because of the goals but defends from front thereby allowing the midfielders and defenders to regroup, could make a good squad player one of the reasons i don't agree with u that he should be sold. i think adding a david villato the squad will be a wonderful idea though it doesnt sound realistic a rafael van der vaat would just be the icing on the cake. regarding wingers rafa tried to get simao sambrosa 2 seasons ago and summer of last season before he went to atletico, was thinking of mancini too don't know if he ll resurect those bids. i think lack of funds made us lose out on dani alves and gabriel milito before they became world class. like u said Jan is just 2 days away lets wait and see,  looking forward to 2row hope we get 3 points in manchester

As per the tranfer window,
You are all so right,we need wingers who will put fear in defenders.

When the chips are down ,you need someone to dig in deep and create something out of nothing, that has been the story behind the successes of Manchester United & chelsea this season, only Arsenal seem to have this allround good play going for them.

On our side , like some one said only Toreski Toronto Torbrilliant & Captain Fantastic have been up to it,Babel and Benayoun have potential ,but will sparkle once and be passengers in the next few games.

I don't think we should offload Crouch, behind his clumsiness lies a match winner. Kuyt definitely has disappointed,Sissoko should go on loan instead, its possible he's yet to regain full fitness after his career threathening injury, ditto for Pennat.

David Villa & Quaresma would fit perfectly into our style of play.

We definitely need one or two GOOD NO-NONSENSE defenders, please don't mention the fumbling ujfalusi.

I nearly cried for Newcastle ,when Chelsea got their undeserved winning goal. A draw would have put them(Chelski) on 39 & our win(by God's grace) againt Man C 2day would have moved us up to 3rd,with a game in hand . Angry

Anyways ,one step at a time. Smiley Smiley

My people,me sef tire.
Don deMaco has asked the right question, when are we going to become serious contenders?

We seem to play unseriously until the last 10 minutes, but I would like to say this isn't the time to jump ship okay.

We are in it good or bad ,right guys?  Undecided

Like most of your posts eh? Wink

Don,

Yes, it's the wrong time to jump ship. It's worryin that we dropped another 3 points. But let's not forget that not many teams will go to ManCity and pick up three points. It's still along way to go yet. And we have to continue to believe. Manure, Arsenal and Chelsea are still going to drop points. They will still go through a lull. There is also the ANC coming up. So let's see what will happen. In the meantime, Rafa needs funds to buy quality players in defence, midfieldas well as attack.

Dominique,

Gerrard isn't the only cute one. ElNino and Lucas should make you go weak at the knees too. Enough reason to make you support the most successful club in Engand.
