« on: November 21, 2007, 12:22 PM »

OK i know that u have seen and heard many things about ubuntu , in other to streamline things i decided to create a thread is meant for the ubuntunigeria loco. in case you are wondering what a loco is,  its a kind of association of ubuntu users that live in a country, their jobs among other things is to . enlighten people about the advantages of using ubuntu, and to help new users with installation, and support. we currently have a blog www.ubuntunigeria.wordpress.com u can visit there if u will like to know more about ubuntu,  we also have some toturials there on how to partition your hard drive and dual boot ubuntu with xp. etc if u have any question u can sure paste them here,

if u are in need of an ubuntu cd or u are having problem with installation please feel free to call me 08022982698 if u stay in lagos ,  other numbers of the ubuntu nigeria loco group u can call are

Abuja-Ralph 08033735087

Ibadan-Afolabi 08025426934

Ogun State-Esquire 0802882963

i will keep u posted on any development

* for those whom i have promised ubuntu cds am very sorry that i have not gotten i touch with u,  i have been very busy this last 2 months ,  but i hope to start  shiping your cds before the week runs out,  am so sorry,

* and if u want to be a part of the ubuntu loco group ,  all u have to do is register at the ubuntuforums.org call any of the above numbers ,  and u are in,  but note that is a purely non - profit group and we do not charge for what ever help we render to people,

currently  i light of the fact that u need an internet connection to have a complete ubuntu experience,  we are have an application cd that u can use to install some of the programs u will need on ubuntu  etc.

With God, al things are possible Cheesy

@TOPIC:

If you have read the first post and/or you're interested in running Ubuntu!
You can post the version u need, and also your computer specification.
That will help us decide on what version will suite you!

We're thinking of making the Ubuntu Ultimate Editions the default for the loco Team since it has everything to get a beginner going!
I am downloading the latest version i.e (Ubuntu Ultimate 1.6) and will be done by evening today, although - this version has not been officially released, you can confirm that by clicking on this link

I will notify everyone once the .iso is down! Smiley

mehn This ubuntu ultimate is too awesome,  its just sooo cool,  mehn am speechless,    yeah everybody here know that iam an advocate of ubuntu ,  and i have always talked about just how cool the os is compared to windows,  installing ubuntu ultimate 1.6 just takes trhings to another height  ,  its the perfect linux os for the new user who just want everythign to work out of the box,  without editing or installing any extra stuff,  everything has been installed for u,  all your codecs , everything ,  wine works like magic,  i was even able to install some windows program using wine and it worked , that is why ubuntu nigeria loco has decided that we would be making it our official distro of choice,
