@cgift : Thanks for your response. The problem with all these Islamic fanatics is that they will never accept the truth. If their occultic religion(Islam) is the truth, why is that they have no regard for the santity of life Why are they so bloodthirsty? Take a look at what happened in the Maiduguri crisis??? The mayhem that claimed lives of innocent citizens and destroyed hard-earned and life-supporting property of many, (but not eminent) Nigerians, one could not but give in to venting one's anger. How can that be a religion of peace ? Why do Nigeria buys other peoples' problems, personalizes them and kills for them ("taking panadol for another person's headache") while the real issues that threaten us daily in our land and that are worth dying for are not noticed And in the end the federal government will come out to lend her voice to those of the eminent Nigerians to plead for peace - crying over spilt milk every time. How come we cannot learn from one experience and ward off future occurrences. This is not the first time that Nigerians have been killed by Nigerians just because the Muslims in one part of the world have a problem with themselves or another group. And in the end, the eminent Nigerians and federal Government will come to remind us that we are members of the same family and should learn to live as one. If my brother is after my neck and will kill me because of something that does not concern us or because of somebody else, how brotherly are we, and how do you expect me to take him as my brother? Could it not be true that he sees the other person as a brother more than me? In 2001, when the USA went to Afghanistan following the September 11 attack, the Muslims in Nigeria were the only group of Muslims in the whole Muslim world who reacted to it violently - resulting in the Kano crisis of October 2001 that took the lives and property of Nigerians who were neither Americans nor Afghanis. Why ? How on earth can someone reconcile this situation and console those who have lost their people and property in this ugly incident, just because a media house in far away Denmark published a cartoon. No one justifies the caricature of a religion or similar acts which simply show how far our age has strayed from God. But how come that in Demark, where this took place, nobody was killed; the protesters didn't carry their protest to churches? In Islamic countries like Afghanistan such protest was peaceful yet in Nigeria, it was a sufficient and cogent reason to kill; and the target and victims were Christians. why It goes beyond my wildest imagination, and calls to mind some other unasked questions in this country. " I wonder why many Nigerians don't see any surprise in this. Instead our governments would rather pretend that it is an act of miscreants who would want to destabilize the government. This is the most annoying thing about the whole issue; how could our government always explain away such heinous acts that have been perpetuated in the name of religion, not once and not twice? The Federal minister of information and national orientation, Mr. Frank Nweke, on behalf of the government has as usual appealed for dialogue, requesting religious leaders to counsel their followers to refrain from violence in issues that could be solved through dialogue saying, "our people should not allow issues which could be easily talked over to tear them apart" (sometimes one would just conclude, how can they not talk like this when they and their properties are always under protection 24/7 by security men armed to the teeth). In the first place I want to ask, what issues were there to be talked over? There were none as far as I can see. Inasmuch as we have condemned the act of the journalists in Demark, one may still ask has this been the first time a religious figure has been caricatured? When sometime ago Hollywood produced the movie "Jesus Christ Superstar," the Christian world reacted against it quite all right; but how many lives and properties (including mosques) were lost world wide and particularly in Nigeria? When the Muslims in Nigeria sparked off a riot that destroyed lives and properties in Kaduna, Abuja and other areas in Nigeria in 2003, on account of Thisday's publication in relation to Prophet Mohammed and Miss World pageant which they thought was blaspheming the holy prophet; How many Muslims nations took to the streets to protest against this, lost their lives or took that of their fellow citizens in solidarity with their brethren in Nigeria? Why is it always different in Nigeria? Must Nigerians always die for other peoples' sin; knowing that it is not even easy to die for a good person, much less when you don't have any plans in your life program to be a vicarious sacrificial lamb? Points to Ponder: Governor Muazu of Bauchi sympathizing with the victims on Wednesday 22nd Feb. 2006, reassures us that, "Every citizen of Nigeria has the constitutional right to choose where to stay and carry out legitimate business as well as freedom to associate and practice any religion of choice without molestation." It is a blatant lie for anyone in Nigeria to believe. It really bothers me that the Nigerian people, eminent personalities, royal fathers and the government have not addressed issues like; why is it that in Nigeria, in Muslim dominated areas, Christians are not allowed to freely build their churches, yet Muslims can at any time erect their mosques in any part of this country, even next door to Christian cathedrals? Christians are under restrictions and ordered not to perform their religious worship publicly in such areas, yet on Fridays, roads are closed in almost all parts of Nigeria simply because Muslims are in prayer? It makes me doubt the "one Nigerianess" of Nigeria. Do we not mull over why and how some states in Nigeria should legally and legitimately declare themselves Muslim states; and no state has been declared a Christian or African traditional religion's state; yet we pride ourselves as one secular and free nation? These I choose to call points to ponder because they are not for now identified as immediate causes of any religious motivated violence but who knows tomorrow. A stitch in time may still save nine. We have to face the issue or we will always be sitting on a keg of gunpowder waiting for explosion anytime (which has always happened). For how long will this continue? How long will our people continue to run? How long shall we wait to address the issues that really divide us? How much blood do we wish to flow again? How much waste do we intend to contend with? I think we have run, we have waited, we have flowed and we have wasted enough; now is the time to face issues squarely or we may not have the chance again. May God help us all

Bravo Black man, from Corona Queens. The last time I checked, your bloodline and that of the Sudanese Babooons is exactly the same thing! Same tube, same thing. You must just be as Babooned as the Sudanese.
The source of your blackness is whacked.
Chief Olabowale, I used the term as a figure of speech and not (as you perceived) and attack on their race. I want you to understand my post was directed to the particular set of people who were screaming for the head of the woman. It will be irrational to condemn The entire people of Sudan or Islam because of these imbeciles. They are the problem, not Islam, not Sudan. This has been my view from the beginning and I am going to cling tenaciously to that, because I have enough proof to back it up. Yes they are my brothers, yes we originated from the same 'tube', yes we are the same but I cannot accept their irrational actions because of our 'blackness'. Olabowale, you know this very well so I don't understand why there should be an argument over that. Have you ever stopped to wonder that some people might be outraged/frustrated because they are tired of people demeaning their brothers? We have been erroneously labeled the butt of the human race and have been left to constantly distance our selves from that stigma, not withstanding people of other race have done worst things (probably the worst things in the history mankind). Normally we should care less what people think about our race but it gets frustrating when you see your 'brother' lending credence to that erroneous concept about our race. Think about it.

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Christian groups are up in arms here over a new children's film starring Nicole Kidman and based on an award-winning novel by British author Philip Pullman, accusing it of being anti-religious.
ADVERTISEMENT "The Golden Compass" which opens here Friday is the film version of "The Northern Lights," the first book in Pullman's "Dark Materials" fantasy trilogy aimed at teenage readers.
The books by confirmed agnostic Pullman trace the fate of a young girl, Lyra, as she becomes drawn into an apocalyptic battle of good against evil, meeting a host of strange characters along the way including a polar bear, voiced in the film by Ian McKellan.
Evil in Pullman's books is represented by the church, called the Magisterium, whose acolytes kidnap orphans across England to subject them to horrible experiments in the frozen northern wastelands.
"The Northern Lights" won Pullman the 1995 Carnegie Medal for children's fiction in Britain, and the final volume in his trilogy, "The Amber Spyglass" was the first ever children's novel to be awarded the prestigious British Whitbread Book of the Year award in 2002.
With its 180-million-dollar big budget movie, New Line studios is hoping to repeat the box-office success of its "Lord of the Rings" series.
And it aims to tap into the young audiences of cinema-goers who flocked to the five "Harry Potter" films making them big earners for Warner Bros.
But already "The Golden Compass" is whipping up the same controversy which saw the "Harry Potter" series based on the novels by British author J. K Rowling, accused by some on the religious right of promoting witchcraft.
The author's attack on organized religion has been toned down for the film, in a bid to attract as wide as audience as possible, something director Chris Weitz has acknowledged.
"In the books the Magisterium is a version of the Catholic Church gone wildly astray from its roots," Weitz wrote in the British Daily Telegraph.
But "if that's what you want in the film, you'll be disappointed," he warned.
However, the sanitized version of Pullman's book has failed to appease the Catholic League, which gathers some 350,000 members, and which has already been sending out leaflets denouncing the film.
"The Catholic League wants Christians to stay away from this movie precisely because it knows that the film is bait for the books," said president William Donohue.
"Unsuspecting parents who take their children to see the movie may be impelled to buy the three books as a Christmas present. And no parent who wants to bring their children up in the faith will want any part of these books," he added.
The League already took on the movie world in 2006 to denounce the blockbuster "The Da Vinci Code" and its central tenant that Jesus Christ had a child by Mary Magdalene whose descendants still survive today.
The US Conference of Catholic Bishops however has been more nuanced in its approach warning in a review of "The Golden Compass" of its "anti-clerical subtext, standard genre occult elements, character born out of wedlock, a whiskey-guzzling bear."
But it adds that "taken purely on its own cinematic terms, (it) can be viewed as an exciting adventure story with a traditional struggle between good and evil, and a generalized rejection of authoritarianism."
"The Golden Compass" will be released in some 3,000 cinemas and only 60 have so far refused to screen it, according to the industry daily Variety.
"It's this undisguised anti-religious theme that has numerous groups in a lather, but perhaps more of an issue for some , will be the film's lack of exciting uplift and the almost unrelievedly nasty treatment of the young characters by a host of aggressively unpleasant elders," Variety added.

Will I say there are Muslims in the Northern Nigeria? You bet. Do I say they are excellent in their practices? No. No one in any part of the world is an excellent Muslim. Do Nigerians too emotional? Is that a good thing? Not in all cases. If you love One Nigeria, try your darnest to be a good Nigerian. Mr disoriented/focus stop crying only u they write long essay for here. Unfortunately it sounds like that of a mentally retarded writer
Am not comparing anything, i mean every group protest, will u call that religious intolerance. No one has rights to kill another human beings in the name of anything, but some empty brains like Nwando, davididiot will not understand this submission, cus of their sheer hatred for Islam. WAITING.
Mr No sense / Zombie / followers of satanic occultic religion , I am sure your father muhammed is crying in hell. That is why he fed you with a lots of satanic verses to carry on with HATRED, JIHAD, GROSS INTOLERANCE AND LACK OF COMMON SENSE UNDER THE NAME OF RELIGION.You are mentally retarded right from your mother's womb with this satanic religion you call Islam. That is why you can no longer reason with your common sense any more. You said no one has the right to kill anyone under the name of religion, but Muslims do this all the time and I have just quoted a verse in your Quran and Hadith to support the fact, but you are denying it. for how long will they carry on with all these blood rituals ? Maybe Muhammed is looking for human blood he will drink or human flesh he will eat, that is why Islamist are always going on rampage to kill Christians all the time ?One thing is clear, Islamic religion is a satanic occultic religion. If you don't like it, then go and change the mindset of your satanic brothers and sisters who are hell bent on killing innocent people all the time because they don't want people to speak their mind about their satanic prophet labelled mohammed and because they have been brainwashed that they will given virgins when they get to heaven Sorry I mean when they get to HELL FIRE.

Olabowale : I appreciate your maturity and the way you analyse things, but if we don't discuss these things, how can we find solutions to all these things. I don't hate Islam, but its appalling what people do all in the name of religion in Nigeria. Why can't we in Nigeria lead by example for God sake for other African countries to copy from ? Why are we always killing each other for heaven sake ? What is the sense in introducing sharia law in a secular country ? What is the sense in partioning a country into Islam states and christian states ? Turkey that have a strong Islamic history clearly separate religion from political life. The fact that Sharia is introduced does not stop crime from happening neither does it stop corruption in government where those Sharia is practised. There are one thousand and one things why we are backward in Nigeria.

ADVERTISEMENT A smiling Gillian Gibbons was met by her son John and daughter Jessica at Heathrow airport after her flight touched down at around 0705 GMT. " It has been an ordeal, but I would like you to know that I was well treated in prison and everybody was very kind to me," Gibbons told reporters. "I was very sorry to leave Sudan. I had a fabulous time there."Gibbons, sentenced last week to 15 days in jail for insulting Islam, flew home from Khartoum with two prominent British Muslim legislators who had appealed to the Sudanese president for her early release. Gibbons, 54, let her pupils at Khartoum's private Unity High School pick their favorite name for a teddy bear as part of a project in September. Twenty out of 23 of them chose Mohammad -- a popular boy's name in Sudan, as well as the name of Islam's Prophet -- but a member of staff complained to the authorities. Gibbons apologized for any distress she might have caused the people of Sudan. She has said she encountered "nothing but kindness and generosity from the Sudanese people." Prime Minister Gordon Brown, whose country has had strained relations with Sudan for several years, mainly because of the conflict in Darfur, said he was "delighted and relieved" to hear Gibbons had been pardoned and freed. Two British peers, Baroness Sayeeda Warsi and Lord Ahmed, went to Sudan at the weekend in a private initiative to try to secure Gibbons' early release. Her pardon and release was announced while they were meeting President Omar Hassan al-Bashir on Monday and they left Khartoum later in the day. Many Sudanese said they thought Gibbons' action was an innocent mistake which could be forgiven after an apology. Sudan's influential Council of Muslim Scholars urged the government on Sunday not to pardon Gibbons, saying it would damage Khartoum's reputation among Muslims around the world. Gibbons thanked all those who had helped secure her release and said she was glad to be back in Britain and eager to spend some quiet time with her family. "I'm a little shocked at all the media attention I have been getting and I am looking forward to seeing my family and friends and having a good rest," she told reporters at the airport. Nairalanders it will take a while for Olabowale to be redeemed from the terrible spirits eroding his life as he lives with more than 2 thousands demons.
The only quick solution is for him to surrender wholehearthedly to JESUS CHRIST, without submitting himself, he may become a terrorist himself with the way things are going on with him.
Folks this is not a joking matter anymore, i believe it only takes 30min to 1hour for a wise man to know the foolish ones around him. Therefore most of us on nairaland must have been imagining what this man is capable of doing, please let's not sleep, let's pray together and deliver him from this severe oppression.
Remember our country (Nigeria) is also as stake respectively. Let's think!

@Focus: You should defend Jesus and others 'Bible prophets' as non Muslims in the thread that is appropriate for it. The thread is already open.
Yes, Jesus knows the bible. When he was tempted by the devil, he quoted some verses in the bible to put the devil at bay. (How could he have known the Bible? Your Bible is NT, aint it? (Thats Ebonics for is it not?). If at all Jesus quoted anything, it must be Torah, given to Moses. It is the religious Book of the Jews. The last time I check will my Attorneys and my Jewish associates, they will never call it the Bible and never have the NT in their religious literatures. They do not even believe that Jesus existed more than an ordinary man, a Rabbi at best.)
does he know there are people called xtians ?
Christian is derived from the word Christ. Christianity has been existing before the satanic religion Islam was founded by the terrorist you called muhammed. (Just because you name something after somebody, may not directly translate to the approval of that person. Especially, since Jesus was not here to defend and recluse himself from any and all associations with Christianity, then your argument is not even a good beginning. We read in the Qur'an, in Surah An Am, Chapter 6, towards the end, that Ibrahim, said that he was the first to be Muslim, in his generation. I wonder how he knew that word, Muslim? Except other believers like him, Noah, etc have exhibited the same qualities that can be used to define the word Muslim in Islam. Further in Surah Araf, the Height, we read that Moses said that he was the first to be a believer (Mumiin), in his generation. Rightfully so, they were prophets of Allah Almighty Creator. In Surah Al Maidah, Chapter 5, in the beginning of it, we read that the religion of Islam was completed on Muhammad, as a perfect favor of choice of religion to mankind. Completion, indicates that there was a beginning sometimes before the completion time is arrived at.)
Christianity has been existing in Saudi Arabia and other middle east countries before the birth of Islamic religion. If you don't know, then go and read properly, or even ask any Islamic scholar who knows Islam very well. Your problem is gross Ignorance and may God deliver you from satanic ignorance. (It is true that Christianity and other religions, eg Judaism have been in existence of the completed favor of God, by His Revelation of Qur'an and Islam to Muhammad. This however would not mean that Islam was not in existence before any of the numerous religions. The definition of Islam points to submission, hence, the first man, Adam was a Muslim, bowing his will to his Creator. Ibrahim, who was a more recent man compared to Adam, was not a Jew nor was he a Christian, in religious beliefs.

uhm, "up in arms" is a figure of speech brotha, meaning to be upset and not meant to be taken or applied literally if that's what you were trying to imply. They weren't saying they were "armed", You read the article right? idiom: "up in arms": Extremely upset; indignant.http://www.answers.com/topic/arm?cat=biz-fin

You wonder if Islam has a way of dessicating gray matter such that a man who knows how to log onto nairaland cannot pick up a simple encyclopedia or use the same google he already knows to find out meanings of phrases. This one will surely blow himself up with little coersion even for the promise of a handful of gworo in Islamic paradise,he already shows all the signs of a typical dunce mumu of the highest degree.

I now wonder who the ode is When people were busy going to school you were rocking back and forth sprawled before a gworo eating mallam. and mumbling unintelligently. How could he have taught you figures of speech and use of English? You may probably be the only person on nairaland that thinks "up in arms" means carrying AK 47's . Stick out your head again and see what people do to snakes. mumu

The people who will be in the highest levels in Paradise, will not necessarily be the highly matriculated, or worldly. The prerequisite of Paradise is the Mercy of Allah the Almighty on those who have piety in their hearts, the small flesh under the breasts. Indeed, the highest concentration of the classes of people in Paradise will be the poor and the simply ridiculed by the classicists of this world. Those who followed the prophets, were usually the poor, because their hearts are always readily receptors of guidance. they were never proud and never arrogant.
