seen it, NE sits down to chat with Nigerian Rapper 2shotz. In this revealing chat log, he talks about his beef with Big lo, His up coming album and his dislike for some female artists. A very interesting person, 2shotz speaks his mind and doesnt hold anything back. NE: Whats up 2shotz, how was your day today? 2Shotz: not bad 2Shotz: it was raining though, so I really couldn’t get out because I hate driving in the rain NE: Heard you are working on a new album. 2Shotz: Well, it’s collaboration or rather, a best of both worlds album with Big Lo. 2Shotz: It’s called "Marketing Strategy" NE: Why the name marketing strategy? 2Shotz: well I though about the whole beef and our come back and heard people saying it was a plan made up by both of us as a strategy to sell records 2Shotz: so I though well lets call the album that, sounds controversial and keeps people talking
NE: So were you beefing Big Lo? 2Shotz: well, we had issues 2Shotz: nothing that we couldn’t solve 2Shotz: the press kept escalating stories and it became a like 2pac and biggie thing NE: what were some of the stories they escalated and what caused the issues you guys had? 2Shotz: we were pals and after our hit single." DELICIOUS" we had issues about whose album it was going to be in 2Shotz: at first the deal was, song belongs to both parties and everybody had rights to put the song on their albums. NE: Did you sign a contract to that effect? 2Shotz: so when the song blew up and my album pirated copy was…, 2Shotz: no we didn’t, it was just some song 2Shotz: we didn’t even believe in it that much 2Shotz: and it just blew up 2Shotz: I mean the song NE: I see, so the song blew up and then what happened? 2Shotz: we couldn't manage it on time, we didn’t even have managers then, we were just handling our business by ourselves 2Shotz: that was about the same time my oga, eldee left for Yankee. I had no head to guide me 2Shotz: but oh well. I guess I'm smarter now NE: Yeah! so did you end up using the song alone? 2Shotz: no, we both put it on our albums after a huge fight NE: If you guys had issues before, don’t you see the same thing happening with this album, what do you think has changed? 2Shotz: we have a management here handling things for the project and we understand our differences now. I know exactly how my guy thinks and besides, the creativity between both of us is heavy 2Shotz: it’s like a method man and Redman thing
NE: So tell me a bit about the concept, what kinds of songs should we expect? 2Shotz: well, we've already dropped a new single on radio called "this NA NAIJA" more like a Naija version of MIMS' this is why I’m hot 2Shotz: video will be shot on the 23rd by DJ tee 2Shotz: then there's a part two version of the song that caused the whole wahala, MBGEKE BABE 2Shotz: that’s my song, it’s so humorous 2Shotz: laughs 2Shotz: "this country” 2Shotz: “brand new style” and more NE: lol, what’s Mbgeke babe about? 2Shotz: ahah 2Shotz: well, mbgeke babe means village razz chick NE: lol 2Shotz: well it’s about wanting that sort of chick that doesn’t give you trouble. You know the way our new generation chicks are? NE: new generation chicks? Explain! 2Shotz: you have to stress yourself to toast, spend money, time and all just because you wan marry or f***** NE: lol 2Shotz: an mbgeke babe doesn’t give u all that, she worships u like a god, you go out and come back and meet hot water in the bathroom, there's food on the table after bathing, she washes and iron's your clothes… 2Shotz: new generation chicks don’t do all that, NE: So you want a slave? lol 2Shotz: all they are about is, I want and gime and can I have or can u send or buy me 2Shotz: naaaaaaaahh It’s not like that 2Shotz: a good woman should be able to balance her duties as a woman to a man and her wants, and her priorities. NE: lol, ok we will not get into that but let me just say you will be one of the guests I have on my new show, so I can drill you properly. 2Shotz: about what? NE: your idea of what a good woman is 2Shotz: no, don’t get me all wrong 2Shotz: I don’t mean that I totally want that type of woman, It’s very boring NE: yah sure!. lol
NE: So how many songs total on Marketing Strategy? 2Shotz: 10 plus skits NE: Any favorite songs? 2Shotz: “mbgeke babe”, “brand new style” 2Shotz: oh, there's this other track called “Ashewo” NE: gosh! the names, so who came up with all these names, you or big lo? 2Shotz: most of the track names, he came up with them 2Shotz: I came up with the album title 2Shotz: ok “this na naija” was my idea NE: so when is the album officially coming out and how can we get our hands on it? 2Shotz: well. I can mail it to you by or before Christmas, that’s when its coming out. We don’t know dates yet 2Shotz: we actually have a meeting with a distributor tomorrow 2Shotz: so we’ll exchange for my Toni Payne shirt. lol NE: lol NE: Well that seems fair enough. NE: You seem to love collaborating, what other artists have you worked with? 2Shotz: apart from 9ice, eeeeem ruggedman, styleplus, mode9, terry the rapman, that nigga raw, 2Shotz: a whole lot. Can’t remember all now NE: Which brings me to my next topic, 2shotz, Big lo and that Nigga raw, you guys seem to have the same style. What’s up with that? 2Shotz: how? 2Shotz: I speak more pidgin than they do? 2Shotz: in fact raw has more accent and flows in ibo beta than I do 2Shotz: maybe because I was the 1st the put Ibos on the map NE: Oh, well maybe so. What’s next after Marketing Strategy? 2Shotz: my solo album for next year 2Shotz: It’s called “MUSIC BUISNESS” 2Shotz: 10songs 2Shotz: 1st single is called NAIRA IN MY POKET NE: Will you be featuring any artists on it? 2Shotz: yes 2Shotz: w4, terry d rapman, biglo, Ikechukwu,
NE: that’s hot! so now its time to put you in the hot seat NE: I’m going to get a bit personal so here goes, favorite food 2Shotz: plantain, any kind, fried, boiled or roasted 2Shotz: Garri and Okro soup NE: lol NE: Are you single? 2Shotz: yes NE: Have you ever lied to get laid? 2Shotz: nope, never 2Shotz: can’t even remember what it feels like toasting a girl NE: Name 1 Nigerian artist you absolutely love and why 2Shotz: Eldee 2Shotz: he's so versatile and intelligent NE: Name 1 Nigerian artist you cannot stand and why? 2Shotz: Ashionye 2Shotz: she's a terrible Beyonce wannabe 2Shotz: gooosssshh 2Shotz: I hate her guts NE: lol, oh my goodness!. Why, what did she do to you? 2Shotz: she's a terrible Beyonce wannabe 2Shotz: she's a terrible Beyonce wannabe 2Shotz: she's a terrible Beyonce wannabe 2Shotz: she's a terrible Beyonce wannabe NE: lol. I heard you! 2Shotz: Its so annoying, she should have stuck to her radio show 2Shotz: everybody wants to sing these days for Naija, even actors and actresses NE: Have you guys ever had an encounter? 2Shotz: no 2Shotz: ah, she will not like my mouth that day NE: lol, well I am sure if she reads this she will and feel the same way. NE: so your only problem is that she is a Beyonce wannabe? Are you sure you have never toasted her and got turned down? 2Shotz: naaaaaaahhhh 2Shotz: she no fine for my eye 2Shotz: you ever remember her trio girl group EMETE? NE: No, never heard of them. 2Shotz: that was when I was like WHAT DA? 2Shotz: I even prefer Zeal, now speaking of Zeal, .hhhmmmmm NE: what about zeal? 2Shotz: you want to hear my opinion on her 2Shotz:aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhh NE: lol NE: Yes I do 2Shotz: now zeal's ugly, but a fine revealing dresser 2Shotz: I mean boobs and S*** NE: oh my god! I can’t believe you just said that. NE: Wait I hope you know this is not off record 2Shotz: her songs, oh my god, I can’t stand 2Shotz: no wahalas NE: you are going to have Ashinoye and Zeal coming to kick your butt 2Shotz: but she has the biggest a**, oh sorry NYASH in Nigeria 2Shotz: at least God blessed Naija with Zeal’s nyash 2Shotz: at least it covers our eyes from the bulls*** NE: lol2Shotz: well them dey try for female artist down here 2Shotz: but I personally think most of them are a BIG JOKE NE: So what female artist do you think is not a big joke? 2Shotz: sasha, bouqui, blaze, ego lagbaja, Asa NE: So do you see yourself doing a song with Asa or any of the talented women you mentioned? 2Shotz: yeah 2Shotz: Just spoke to Ego Lagbaja yesterday about a track and she's cool 2Shotz: but I need to give her till the end of the month to finish her tour NE: Current Car and Car you want? 2Shotz: Volkswagen Golf 3 / Mitsubishi Montero sport
NE: What do you think of the new Plantashun boiz Album? 2Shotz: I saw it with the marketer, it was properly packed, but I hope it sells. Some tracks were not mixed, and they really didn’t put their hearts into it. 2Shotz: I didn’t get a potential hit song on the album NE: do you think they only did it for the money? 2Shotz: well, I don’t know. They all probably had what they individually wanted to gain off it 2Shotz: faze and 2face didn’t really have anything to gain, just Blackface 2Shotz: so I guess it favored him NE: why do you think that? 2Shotz: because it will still take a lot to put all of them on a stage and personally, blackface isn’t doing well at the moment. 2Shotz: Faze and 2face are terribly busy 2Shotz: I was with 2face at the club last night in Abuja and they have terrible travel schedules NE: I see! It has been a very interesting sit down, if you had anything to say to our readers to wrap this conversation up, what would it be? 2Shotz: well, Naija is on the map, we need ourselves now, support Nigerian music and help stop piracy NE: Well thanks for hanging out with us today 2Shotz: You are welcome
