yes its available i read in punch newspaper recently glo mtn and celtel networks are currentl testing 3g on their networks, they have their staff currently on 3g, alheiri ie dangote's mobile network issued a statement stating their intention to roll out 3g very soon.

Work at mtn yes d 3g thing is true to start very soon. Our big boys d one's that'l handle d 3g thing r on trainin. So u all wit out 3g fones, shuld go get 1. U knw d best part, when it starts off it wuld b on test try so u all wuld av a period of free 3g trial aswell during this period.

Don't mind some people are so ruthless.
If you don't mind you can wikipedia 3g phone.Let just give an e.g nokia 6630(1st nokia 3g phone),6680,N-series etc.

yes there is 3g in abuja, i use it but it does not have d video option yet, but calls and texts and browsing r way turbo speed, even checking balance is like 2seconds,well i hope they get there act ogether by next yr it will be official.

my man, texaspette, i knw what d gains r, i may even knw more than seeing all yur posts so far on nairaland. Grin Lips sealed, but heck we r in naija not us, so our own gains got to be diffrent, do u think we will reach d us or uk market, not yet, so for now enjoy. point is data speeds r faster than plain gsm, i think am okay with that considering naija factor. got it

Forgive me if i don not explode in happiness if my SMS gets sent out faster and i can check my balance in 2 secs. These probably are happening as a result of improves QoS (Quality of service) from the existing 2G GSM infrastructure and not from 3G.

i use a nokia n95, i switch to only umts which is 3g, then i text not dual mode or gsm , try it

Wow, mtn has finally launch 3.5G service today,celtel and glo will launch theirs next week or so,it may be 3.8G this time around for celtel

my guy announcing is differ from launching.And if you want to enjoy 3G go for latest Nseries from nokia.
And let them start we will know whether is 3.5 or 3G network.

Lol! Typical Nigerian, all you can recommend is a Nokia phone. There are loads more 3G phones out there that aren't Nokia.
It isn't a stretch to go from 3G to 3.5 G, the extra '.5G' being a simple software update to enable HSDPA.

The pricing is what i'm concerned about, with MTNs 65k/kb being nothing but pure thievery.
