You're even lucky the person started with asl, someone started by asking me 'please i'm looking for a sugarmummy'

wow, straight to the point.
And why is it sugarmummy, not saltmummy.

Usually, maybe someone liked your post/reply and he/she just felt a kind of friendship/closeness between you and him/her and wanted to chat.

Hey, Seun, ha about a Chat room on Nairaland!!

I actually don't see anything wrong or find it annoying when anyone starts with asl or asks any question to me it's all fun, afterall no one was pointing a gun at my head when i put my yahoo id on my profile

it is easy for you to say, even though you don't have your yahoo id on nairaland, put it there and you will experience what we mean. I don't see anything wrong in somebody starting a chat with me, for God sake, you should have known I am male because it is right in front of my username, then if you are really wanted to chat with a woman, you should have check such username profile as provided by nairaland. Having said this, to me, i found it too pleasing to answer a question you want to ask me first, it is a sign of good chatting etiquette, by so doing I am also glad to answer such questions.

One guy met me and asked if I could provide black strippers. I told him politely that I wasn't in Nigeria and that I was just 17 -- he could get into trouble for that.

He asked me if I wanted a girl. I said no and he said the girl would love me, bla bla. I was really sick -- did I tell him I needed a girl?

Wait a minute, I don't see anything wrong with me asking anyone for their asl. You want to chat with me, you initiate the conversation, I don't know you so why shdn't I find out a little about you? There's absolutely nothing wrong with someone asking you for your asl. Cheesy

hey ,  in case u didn't notice, asl is written in nairaland.com. u just have to read it before you contact a person through ym. is that so difficult??  Undecided Undecided

Give em a break please!! ASL is a conversation starter. If you don't want to talk to people, remove your Yahoo id from your profile. Its that simple.

@Rhodalyn

Last time i checked, in ya mama's @$$!!!!!!!! is not a location.

The one that annoys me is the buzzes. The conversation goes like

him/her: hello Zahymaka this is user_name from Nairaland
zahymaka: hullo
zahymaka: how're you doing?
him/her: I'm fine
zahymaka: glad to hear that.
BUZZ!!
BUZZ!!

And the person just keeps on buzzing me. I try to be very civil but I wonder why if some people can't keep up a conversation they just annoy me with buzzes? Do they expect me to just keep up my end of the conversation when they initiated it?

Or some people that don't even say hi. They just try to add you.

i simply ignore if i don't want to chat. . and if i do want to, i check up the person's profile/post on nairaland first. just think its safer that way.
