I've seen some really interesting American Football films, but I think the game lacks continuity. within Five seconds, play has stopped, some one or everyone is on the ground, then another 60 seconds rearranging and positioning. it lacks the flow and buildup of soccer. I really doubt if it will become a passion in Nigeria. Even basketball, which is infinitely more interesting, has not yet gotten a real hold on us. Soccer is our blood. American football is american, and thats just not us.

football is da bomb men yall r talkin like this because, u don't understand the game. i didnt like the game my first year in the states but now its my best sport.

For those who feel nigerians r not built for it, you're joking men. we got some big and strong nigerians that can learn and play the game. the only thing that scares me is the medical expertise and facilities the sport requires. we lack it like crazy. but other than that we got the human resources.

efani thats good men, take advantage of your opportunity men. i regret never tryin out in college.

lets go steelers

when i think of american football , i think of fracured vetebrae and  busted knees. can you imagine what would happen if we had any of the accidents that characterize the sport in naija? we don't have any touch and go emergency medical facilities on ground.we'll just generate a crop of invalids.

American football rocks (go REDSKINS!) I couldnt believe I would ever dump soccer for football but sadly that is what I have done. This is coming from a former soccer addict- used to buy Complete Football every month then and would watch any soccer on TV ina naija. I love football - I only watch soccer only if naija is playing or maybe some top level UEFA champions league but I don't even go out of my way.

Mine got bad to the point that I changed Church because of football. My old church liked long service and we don't close utill like 2PM EST. I go ind church for my house wey dey do early morning service. I go by 7 and come back by 930am and have enough time all day to watch football all day sunday.

To the soccer lovers out there, take time to understand American football. It is one of the best game ever invented. The schemes, the tricks, the play call, you will fall in love with it!

Na only football, na legball. I love American football but it ain't going to work anywhere else. Though never say never but most Nigerians i know back home don't care for it, they are all about soccer.

I just had to comment on this. Football (and I don't mean soccer) is one of those games you have to understand to enjoy (I can't wait for September). And it's not only played in the US. NFL Europe is rapidly gaining ground and there was a huge push to play one regular NFL game in London or Paris this year.
Soccer is the beautiful game, but football is beautiful too. I've seen no other sport where everyone has a distinct, often uninterchangeable role. And the sheer athleticism of these guys,

P.S. Yes the last Superbowl was boring!

AMERICAN FOOTBALL Undecided impossicant. it is mere wishful thinking when America is regretting not embracing soccer earlier than now. In any case it is AMERICAN football need i say more? Perhaps if  the proponents relocate to Britain they will start advocating rugby for Nigeria Cheesy Cheesy Grin Grin. Just for my education, how many other countries play the game apart from America?

American football has no potential of entering the Nigerian sport scene in a thousand years time.
it is the most boring form of sport i have ever seen, i went to a live game once just to see what all the rave was about  and it was a miracle that i did not shot myself in the foot for going. it so uncoordinated and lame.
and that is probably the reason that it thrives in North America alone (United States to be specific).

Soccer rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is the best sport ever and there is no denying it. it is a fact.

and to even say more i repeat what "Awoof" said

I won't blame you 4 not undertsanding the game. I used to think the same way when I first came to the States and saw people were crazy about the game, not until 98 when my city went to the super bowl that I really developed interest for the game. Anyone that knows anything about work out or weightlifting will defintely appreciate/love the game because it takes people with great strength to play it.
