I absolutely hate when people are racist. It's like a slap in the face to every single biracial person alive on this planet. You're basically telling every person with two parents of different "races" that they should have never existed. If you say "interracial" relationships are wrong, you're telling them that the fact that they were ever born was a mistake, and something WRONG. Which is pure NONSENSE. Two people coming together who love one another, no matter what "race" is always a good thing.

Not against. Whatever works for an individual. Personally, will only go for a born in Nigeria--away bred Nigerian anyday--just like me. Typical "Nigerian dude"-- that only travels in and out of the country for vacation and "business"--God forbid!  Like to stick to my own kind. Less conflicts for me that way. Always worked in ma hood. While I love me a lot of adventure in ma dating life---marriage is a whole different ball game---adventure is over. Time to practice what we learned collectively.  Thank you Jisos! I sympathise with the mixed race people whom we used to call half castes - i gather they don't like that anymore- if they feel offended by those who despise inter-racial relationships. Relationships don't have to lead to marriages.
However, i can confidently state that it is better to avoid problems by marrying someone who has the same views, outlook and culture as yourself. Differences will only create friction which is not healthy for any marriage. marriages are difficult enough on their own without inviting further conflicts as a result of such differences.
So, I always advise younger people to go for those who have similar backgrounds and cutures as themselves

That term 'half caste' is very wrong in this day and age. People always say it when they are admiring my daughter they are like ooh she's a lovely half caste. It hopefully will die out eventually.

I am indifferent. People can date and marry whoever they feel like. But as for me sha, I want some beautiful chocolate brown babies and I find Black men physically more attractive. So, I am sticking with preferably a Black African man (Naija). If not, a Black west Indian. That is just my personal preference.

Everybody don say their own. But lets be true to ourselves, no offence to anyone 80% of us would prefer our own race. Even here in Nigeria we are still fighting tribalism how much more people from different race.
I am a strong supporter of marrying among your own because my mum is from cameroon and trust me there are so many things she did't know about the Nigerian culture and our attitude towards our pursuits for the success of our children.
I have been to my mum's country and comparing our values to theirs i just thank God my dad was a Nigerian.
Anyway i am not saying marrying outside your race is bad i just dey say my own.

Marriage is a lot more than boyfriend and girlfriend. Cultural differences have a huge role to play in any relationship that is a lot more than a sexual convenience. To consider racial issues in marriage is not being childish, it is being realistic. |
