Will Styl-plus End Up Like Other Boy Bands?
« on: April 05, 2006, 01:18 PM »

when plantashun boiz came up we all said they were da bom. Sorry let me go back in time. Remedies - the best thing that happened to hip-hop in nigeria or so we thought but today where are they? Look at the boy-bands we have, they always have the same destination and i think that's where style plus is headed.
Of course its not restricted to nigeria, imean we've got nsync, backstreet boys, plus one and tons of others too.

:owa! seiyiox, that is really something. what do u mean they are on the road to a breakup? just when i have discovered them??
groups don't stay together, its like a fairytale marriage, cracks normally appear even before the weding!!!
unless the group is already exibiting signs of cracks and yawning gaps?

truth be told. i like styl plus. they 've got good voices. but what i foresee is even worse that just a break up. I think they'll become a fad. people will just get tired of them because their music (in my opinion) isn't well formed. They sounded like a bunch of guys trying to find out what kind of music they want to sing in Xpressions.

Its very obvious that Style Plus really love what they are doing.
They re in d music business to make impact. Its music before money unlike most other nigerian artistes.
They re true professionals and I know they wont split. Trust me!

I've heard some of Style-Plus's songs and they, as a group, sound pretty good,  though I think if they were to seek the aid of a top R&B or Hip-Hop producer, like JD,  they can really go 112 or Jagged Edge big time in the world scene, or at least here in North America. This is a business and as in any business,  one should seek to work with the best, so to release the best available product for the best amount of sales. Why don't top Niaja groups or African groups in general do this? Many Jamaican artist have reached out to collabo with top American artist or producers and now are much better known in the American and world market for it, several British artist have as well,  like Flowitry.

I sure like Styl-plus' music as a group but, it's no big deal if they split up because, most boy-bands that split up do even better. This even provide the fans the opportunity to seperate the wheat from the chaff. How many Plantation fans knew Faze was this talented?

I don't pray nor anticipate their break up though but incase it happens, it's still part of the game.

They seem like a Kool band. It'd be bad if they do split.

Word man! i think i like that very much because that's the truth. though that brings me to my next concern. Can we have a nigerian boyzIImen? or do you think that boyzIImen can ever split. (even if they still  keep releasing hits)

I don't think it's about who's prophesying doom: before i started this thread, i had a heated argument with my friends on whether or not styl plus will remain together. the reason why it's important to speculate is that the growth of music in this country depends a lot on the consistency of good music.

while it's a known fact that they are talented musicians, they do nothing if after a while the split up without ever havin to hit the international scene. In the case of tu-face, he did make some waves in the international music industry but that cannot last long and do you know why? it's because there is no big deal in one music talent doing well - after a while we all get tired of seeing the same face and hearing the same voice and their kind of music becomes a fad.

While in some cases, it's not true in most, this is the case.

D guys are individually talented n i think they will make it as solo artists.

Have u heard of d new girl zeal? She's aight but that means that we'll have 2 zeals if d boys go solo. I wonder how they are going to cope .

Bands all over the world are same! No matter the talents in individuals in the group, if they will split they will do depending on some certain conditions.

If their very frist albulm hits in the market, there is high likelihood they will break up because individualism comes into play.

Their producer most of the time creates another ground for their break up,

it seems that people jus come here and say their mind, don't compare styl-plus with plantation boys or wit remedies, plantation boys split up because they were not making enough money as group, they were getting more popular but lack money to live up to their level, they share money that is meant for one person, their producer and label owner have no money to promote their new album then and didn't expose then outside naija and their hit debut album was massively pirated so they didn't get any good reward for their work.so i can confirm to u that their break up was money problem and also tu face was like the plantation and others were seen as the boyZ and that made tu face to feel he can do it alone.remedies problem was that eddy and edris taught that tony tetiula  have nothing to offer to the group but they forgot that tony helped with the money which his mother gave the group[50000naria]tony was more like a dancer in the group, most of the songs were written by eddy remedy with edris wack rap so they let tony go but today tony is far bigger than eddy remedy or even edris.that shows that everybody have his own talent and when u believe u can make it.i didn't why eddy and edris broke up.but i can tell u that the group styl-plus are far from platation boyz or remedies who never performed outside nigeria as a group or had a good management like styl-plus.styl-plus are jus doing music and they work as a group and noone is really seen as a frontman like tuface was in his group,i tell u today that the day that styl-plus as a group break up then they will quit music because i can't see any of them making it alone.they jus got it now, this is the same reason why boyz to men and 112 can't break up,the only person that can leave is zeal which is not an originally memeber of styl,he is the plus and anybody can replace him jus as in destiny child,so don't fear because these boyz are like a family and ready to go places and remember that they got other people in the group, the producers, they are all styl-plus crew so it is not jus the singers

Styl-plus,  I so much love them boiz, I will be terribly broken-hearted if they do break-up. But I agree with, shaka mc. I don't think they can do without each other. They are just perfect as STYL-PLUS, much love to the boyz, I love them to the bone.
