wyt.

You might want to start preparing for dec from now. This will give you plenty of time to master the material and practice the questions.

Hello guys,

I am a Level 3 candidate in the June 2008 CFA exam.

I recently joined the forum and read posts on this subject and decided to drop a few lines.

My advice for studying for the exams, use the latest Schweser notes (i.e. Dec. 2008 for those preparing for Dec. 2008 exams). The CFA books contain too many pages for you to get through and master the concepts before the exam day. So stick to Schweser or Stalla at the worst. When you get to Level 3, you should probably start using both the CFA books and Schweser, as the Level 3 requires in-depth understanding that Schweser may not provide; as the exam contains a morning essay section.

I also agree with one of the posts saying that you may make best use of your CFA charter if abroad, I am currently working in South Africa but guess what? There are a hosts of company's that are speedily looking for CFA candidates and charter holders in Nigeria. Thus I am moving back home in about a week to take advantage of the opportunities that may be avalable to me.

I have an MBA from Lagos Business School (which I cherish) but I think the CFA program is the best investment in my education till date and would recommend it to anyone seeking a career in Investment Banking anyday.

Take care guys and good luck with your results. May God allow me pass also. The results are due on the 19th of August.

Hello,

I am 28 yrs old. I started in June 2006. Effectively, I passed Level 1 and 2, in June 2006 and 2007. I hope that this year also, I have passed o.

Honestly, this thing just takes determination. I am not a super brilliant person nor anything. But I sure am hardworking. Thats all it takes. I start reading about 6 months before the exam i.e December if preparing for June and study at least 2 hours a week day and 5 hours each weekend day. So effectively I put in 20 hours a week. If you do this for 6 months, that means you have studied for about 320 hours or more, surpassing the 250 hours recommended by the CFA.

Generally I find this works for me.

Like I said, determination is what matterrs, because one may fail in one year but you have to really want it to continue the next year!!
