Entering Nigeria
« on: December 06, 2007, 09:53 AM »

Members of the House please i want to ask the types of visas an artist say a musician would need to apply for when visiting Nigeria.

Because just recently , the Musicians that performed at the THE EXPERIENCE LAGOS 2007 as i was informed entered Nigeria with a visiting visa and PMAN cried foul about the whole process in allowing them into the country.

If visiting visa does not work for aboard musicians entering to Nigeria, I suggest trying to apply for a single-entry or multiple-entry Business visa for a contracted/authorizied Nigeria organization of  "THE EXPERIENCE LAGOS 2007" performance as follow:

There are required to secure a business visa to enter Nigeria:

1. must have valid passport that has not expire within 6 months and must have one blank visa page.

2. send one business visa application completed and signed with your signature in blue ink. All application Forms under new rules by Nigeria Embassy.are required to be completed using the link below:

http://portal.immigration.gov.ng/Applications/visas/entryvisa.aspx

Note: Follow the step by step instructions on the following screen. The application must be submitted online and with the appropriate Consular fee paid with credit card during the appliction online. Remeber failure to fully complete the application form above may delay the processing of your visa.

3. Two passport photographs. Go to a passport photographer. Digital, homemade and non-passport style photos are not acceptable.

Acceptable Passport Photos Requirement:

You must go to a passport photographer who knows the requirements and has a special passport camera that shoots two identical photos simultaneously. You can have passport photos made at a Kinkos, Sears or look in your local yellow pages under "passport photos". The photos must meet the following requirements:

  • 2X2 inches
  • Pale color or white background
  • Full face, front view
  • The image size measured from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head (including hair) should be no less than 1 inch and not more than 1-3/8 inches.
  • The photos must be identical
  • The photos must have been taken within the last six months
  • Photographs retouched so that your image is changed are unacceptable
  • Do not wear a hat or dark glasses unless it is for religious reasons, or if so, please include and explaination
  • Wear normal day-to-day attire. Do not wear uniforms
  • If you normally wear a wig, hearing aid or prescription glasses, wear them for the photo

4. Proof of Departure. Submit a computer-generated flight itinerary from your travel agent, airline, or online booking agency or copy of your flight ticket. The itinerary must show the applicant's name, date of arrival and departure from the country, and flight information.

The itinerary is required because the Embassy wants to know the dates you plan to arrive and depart from the country.

5. Pay the consular fee - please check the web site of the Embassy. Processing time are varied from 2 business days to 5 business days. Prices are per applicant.

6. Invitation. Applicants must submit a letter of invitation accepting immigration responsibility or evidence of financial support while in Nigeria from individual Nigerians or Nigerian organizations. Business visa applicants must submit letters of invitation from companies or business organizations stating the reason for the travel.

8. Business Cover Letter. Business visa applicants must submit a business cover letter from a US. company indicating purpose of travel, duration and moral and financial responsibilities.

9. ADDITIONAL  Children under 18 years of age who are not accompanied by both parents must submit a letter of consent to enter Nigeria. Members of the clergy or those traveling for reasons related to the church must submit a letter of approval from the Nigerian Department of Immigration.

Persons traveling for religious or education reasons, please check the web site of the Embassy.

between, i am not a travel agent nor Embassy staff. All visa information above are the same information on every Embassy everywhere other than USA immigrant service sites. So please check official Embassy website.
