There are two sides to this problem which are: 1. Nigerians will need to be re-oriented on the use and maintenance of public properties or facilities as the case may be. Let's look at the ones in the past the government managed to provide such as public toilets, waste disposal units, telephone booths etc. How have we managed with these? 2. Now our so called government and the ill gotten wealth stashed abroad i wonder what goes on in their heads when they see how organised oyibo's systems work and these cannot be implemented back home. Imagine our transport system or molue or the mechanical coffins moving on tyres we call buses, yet we deceive ourselves with the federal road safety commission which have gradually metarphosed into our egunje men in black . oya! talk about power supply ehm NEPA ooops PHCN how far? Water nko? The roads have turned to death traps that i'm beginning to believe that our politicians are truly members of a bloody occultic groups using this as a means of feeding their gods. After all the years of education please pardon my way of reasoning y'all know anything is possible in this country. By the way how educated are we? with referrals to the overbloathed secondary schools called universities. Well what do you expect from a government that pallies with militants, i mean the rogues not activist with a genuine cause! Ah beg i tire, i can go on and on. LAGOS CAN NEVER BE LIKE ABUJA ,WHERE DO YOU START THE CLEANSING FROM?

LOL, I think the question should be whether Abuja will decay like Lagos. My people, I've lived in both cities and I can tell you that Lagos cannot and will not be like Abuja. Where are the high-brow areas in Lag? Those are just regular areas in Abj, talk about the state of roads in abuja, the serene atmosphere, all these is lacking in eko. Anyone who has hung out at the millenium park will wonder where you can site that kind of structure in eko without area boys taking over. have you noticed that out beaches have decayed?
Abeg, lets not psyche ourselves. It can't be like Abj but then we can always try to improve the state of things here and this should be done through proper geographical and physical planning. Let the authorities ensure that the satellite areas like Lekki and Ajah are properly planned because I've noticed that seems to be none there.
You all have a great day.

although i posted that lagos will never be like abuja in the vote, i dare say that abuja can be like lagos. all u need are rogues at the helm, without any aesthetics or beauty in their minds and the land allocations start flying all around without planning and you will end up where abuja would have gone . if not for el rufai.

In the Name of Jesus, Lagos will never ever be like Abuja. I'm not complaining about my noisy environment and the tons of people around me. Abuja is too quiet, too dry and the whole state is like a government organization.
Abuja can never be like Lagos. If we carry hoodlums there, the political rubbish will return them back to Lagos. It is good like that. In my opinion, every good thing happens in Lagos

who says Lagos cannot be better than Abuja?
Being an undying optimist I don't like it when people say certain things are impossible to achieve.
Oshodi can still be transformed to be the best city in the Universe that is the plain truth. IT IS POSSIBLE

What is Abuja?
Abuja is just a city in the dessert with decent Infrastructure and Planning.
Lagos isn't a bad city because of lack of planning. New York isn't a planned city, New id chaotic like Lagos. The only thing is that Lagos has poor Infrastructure and is quite dirty.
What is Infrastructure?
Infrastructure is Electricity, Potable Water, Roads, Schools, Fixed Lines and other Communications, Hospitals, Transportation. That is all Infrastructure is.
Since when was building Roads, Schools etc Brain Surgery.
If Nigeria had people in the Government that cared about their country, Lagos would be Ten times better than Abuja.
In my Opinion, Lagos is not a Big problem, all we need is a Government that is willing to fix the City.
Lagos has the potential to become a #1 Tourist Destination, yall might be wondering about what I'm saying. But it's the truth.
If Nigeria had a Government that cared the slightest bit about their country, then in 30 Years people will be coming for holiday to Lagos, not Paris or Hawaii.
All we need is a proper Government. Nothing else.

What is needed is the political will of elected officials and cooperation from the private sector and the general public.
For a start why not start by cleaning up the dirty places and follow with infrastructural development. A private individual can contribute by starting a waste collectiona and disposal company and the rest of the public cooperate by not drop their shit around

its extremely difficult for Lagos to be like Abuja going by the fact that Abuja is a city that has a masterplan planned years ago. Unlike lagos that is completely congested and will be too expensive for the government trying to demolish building for the city to be like Abuja
|
|
|
|
|
|
champredd (m)

There's no need to demolish buildings. Only clear up the garbages, make the road motorable, and we are on the road to progress.

Lagos can be like Abuja if there is a n appropriate Urban renewal plan But unfortunately it might have to involve demolishing our long lived homes and illegal structures, before new laws be put in place. But since there are too many big people in Lag they wont allow this 2 be. SolutionThe best way is 2 bomb lagos with a nuclear weapon so no one can have a choice but give in to the Urban renewal, like Hiroshima today TEHEHEHE, , but i mean seriously think bout it.

The mentality of many Lagosians towards their responsibilty for keeping their city clean and pleasant is a big factor on how it can be like Abuja. People in Abuja take pride in their city and it shows in their actions, ie not throwing litter everywhere.
Its really up to Lagosians, and I'm sure they are ready for a better Lagos.
