Things Nl Taught Me
« on: December 10, 2007, 03:01 AM »

hmmm i agree with Siena, you never know what you have until its taken away from you.
I figured i might as well keep up a journal of life without the usual banter of Nairaland.

I HAVE missed Nairaland. without a doubt this has been one of my favorite websites of the last 2 years, well besides the sometimes ardous task of updating my weblog. I have made friends here, laughed, cried, sighed in frustration, giggled in glee . . . i have met the smart, the dull and the brainless. . . i have met boys, girls, men, women, grandparents. . .  Its been a rollercoaster journey and for all the admin's faults its been 101% worth every bit of my time.
very hard to quantify all the stuff i've learnt here . . . its forced me to study history, to read my bible a lot more than i ever did, pay attention to word politics and even spend some time learning some culinary tricks which for some reason i still fail to put to good use.

IN Nairaland, i find an opportunity to test who i truly am. Its easy to describe yourself in glowing terms but until you experience the ups and downs and frequently have to butt heads with those whose sole purpose it is to thread your last nerves, you don't understand who you truly are.

We all try hard to pretend that Nairaland isnt a part of our lives but in every way or form it will forever shape some aspect of our lives that we would always live to remember. We wont meet 99.9% of those we banter with here, but we will always carry with us a part of each other.

What Nairaland has taught me

Who are those who make me tick?

Tongue Tongue Olabowale - even though you ALWAYS find some way to tickle my nerves, i still respect your level of patience. Someday when i'm as old as you are i pray to have as much patience, humility and good spirit as you have shown towards me even when i have been rude to you. Keep your chin up pops, even when the religion section gets heated up you're still respected. I just wish you'd cross over to our side . . . oh well at least a man can wish.

I-man, Kobojunkie - You guys have no idea how much an inspiration it has been reading your responses on threads. I judge the importance of threads by the calibre of posters, you guys are some of the few i especially look out for. Keep up the humor buddies!

Nwando, Spoilt - The wives of the house!  Grin Nna you people know how to make my heart relax kule with your repertoire of jokes ad anecdotes. What would this place be without you?

Almondjoy - pesin wey dash you that name no think am well at all.  Grin With your brashness and sometimes annoying approach to issues you still find a way to spice up the land and keep it from slipping into one boring house of rules and regulations.

Omoge - hmmmm make i no just talk wetin dey on my mind at all! But sis you're one of the few i have a soft spot for.  Wink

Islander - As with everything in life, there are always two sides to a coin. Thanks for being the tool by which i learnt one of life's most important lessons - not everyone with a smile on their face is worthy of your trust.

Moodylady - my dear  Grin Grin Grin your bombshells are one of a kind! You are a fantastic example of the fact that going to school is not synonymous with learning!  Cheesy

they make me tick

Cute-ass - How's the weather in Norway? Got tired of writing those lengthy aunty cutie's love notes? I miss them in a way.

D-Reloaded - took me a while to figure out who it was behind the new moniker. Sometimes even fried brains can work when you place them in a deep freeze for a while  Grin
Brash, blunt, difficult to understand . . . yet can't help liking your nature.
. . . and oh i got another phone for you.  Tongue

Debosky - any of Bayo's friends is automatically my friend.

mrpataki - anytime i read your posts i picture you yelling with your jugular veins looking like they will pop out any minute.

My Gawd is a good gawd!
« #5 on: December 10, 2007, 06:36 PM »

Pastor Thief-yo dollar was on TV today espousing his now stale brand of "blessings", "seed offerings" and all other methods of squeezing hard earned money out of the pockets of the sheeple of Gawd.
This is the same man who is refusing to answer a US senate congressional hearing into mismanagement of church funds . . . i agree with Grassley to a certain extent . . . you can't be able to afford a private jet and still expect to remain tax-free while the rest of us living from hand to mouth have to hand over almost half of our pay checks to the hawks in the IRS.

Joyce Meyer purchased a "commode" for $23,000 . . . ah finally that explains where all the money from the ministry "partners" is going.

Paula White just got divorced!

Give the Lawd a biggg hand!

gimme back my christmas!
« #6 on: December 10, 2007, 06:52 PM »

Christmas lights - now known as winter lights
Christmas season - Holiday season/winter season

Only 1 in 5 schools in the UK will be putting up a nativity play, atheists are over anxious to explain to us that the practice of christmas really has nothing to do with the birth of Christ but was a pagan tradition taken over by the Roman Catholic Church. Really?
Why then didnt the old church fathers refuse to participate in a "pagan" ritual?

Thanks to political correctness, my grand children are likely to grow up in a world where to read the bible in "liberal" nations like the UK would soon become a crime punishable by death . . . the same PC individuals are struggling to get muslim holidays recognised on the calendar of otherwise christian nations.
Easter eggs and the bunny rabbit have replaced easter . . . . like christmas, it has also become an endangered specie. Expect them to fade away from our consciousness by the yr 2020!

there's only oneeee pretty boy! there's only oneeee pretty boy!

Ok a few things English sports fans must know:
  • Passion is NOT a substitute for technique, intelligence and quick thinking.
  • The world is not made up of UK territories alone, please be mindful of how you use the bogus term "world class".
  • Booing foreign national anthems only gets your ass whooped!
  • Learn to talk the talk AND walk the walk.
  • Never underestimate your opponent.

Ah i guess Ricky's boxing lesson at the hands of Floyd "pretty boy" Mayweather was all Wenger's fault . . . too many foreign boxers!
