The fact that you banned them does not mean they wont start another profiles.  I will suggest that any new profile should not be allow to start a new thread until he/she reach certain number of posts, or attain certain status.  They can post on any thread but they wont be able to start a new thread.  Where they spam any thread, such topic should be deleted immediately. By so doing, i think spammers and scammers can be put in check.

, HEY SEUN

, VERIFY SOME OF THESE CLAIMS BEFORE BANNING

, i wonder some of these profiles that have no post yet the evidence to ban them

except if you see spam mails sent by them to any member

any way its a good thing to clean up the place but do it with a proof

good luck

People can change ip's and use proxies. Also banning IP won't work if other reasonable users go out throught the same IP. The best thing is to report them ASAP. Godwilling they won't last 2 minutes before they are frustrated even though they won't stop coming.

Maybe creating moderators to move suspiscious posts to the recycle bin will help even further.

Those that have no posts actually had posts before I banned them. Wink

Instead of getting confused, why don't you just respond to the topic? Huh

I am so glad the break is OVER!!!

While you gone on a break, i had visited the SMF community forum site using its search field box on the following bold text below. I hope Seun and your moderators will work as teammate finding lot of SMF add-on modules very helpful for better solution, because I do not know if Seun has already installed those or not.

(1) Banning Options on multiple factors (IP address, email, username, and hostname)

(2) Captcha or Visual Verification module with Manual Account Verification and e-mail activation on registration form, then prune old members that have not activated in order to reduce all constant spam bots sign-ups.

(3) Double Post Stopper to eliminate duplicate the same post TWICE.

(4) Moderator Activity Report or VReport Board Report that is designated for forum administrator to keep track of all moderators activity what they are doing being moderating on forums daily on ADMIN control panel.

(5) Delete Spam Posts that is designated for both administrators and moderators allowing to delete spam posts and dock member's post count by one.

There are more I find suitable for your permanent solutions on Nairaland, should i continue suggest here or somewhere else?

Need I say more?guess USPY1 has said it all Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Then again I think or hope seun already knows that most of these spammers, scammers et al have very few post on the forum.Like twinstaiye suggested these peole shouldnt be allowed to start threads until they reach a certain amount of post and their post should be monitored too.

I really do think you need a helping hand mate, employ somebody to help you out with ruuning the site?nobodys saying you aint doing a good job already, but it could be better Wink Wink

I agree with you.

New member should attain a good number of posts before being allowed to start their own topic.

That would really help curb scammers

I'll either use proxies. If he was as smart as he thinks he wouldnt be sulkin like he did when he took the site out and kept posting junks to justify his, whatever.
No doubt this site is hot and i appreciate the knowledge i get infused with every second, that aside, no one is an island, you can't know it all and Oga Seun until you see your Nairaland dream as far bigger that you, you would only sulk around.

Get people involved, people that are intelligent and sincerely have a heart for Nairaland (preferably people on the site). From different posts you would know the capabilities of each of your users. The computer room has got great minds, so also has everyother room. Get them involved because they love your site and let them help you hit this nail on the head.

I'm not hattin i'm only challengin, Nairland can sincerely be better!

@all this critisicm
it's a shame that you all criticize this boy because he tried to regulate nairaland and make sure that everything is in order. . ,  .you guys choose to come to nauiraland, if you don't like it the way it isplz, pack your bags and vamooze. if you guys can achieve what he did (creating this site for all naija and friends of naija) then you can talk. i haven't seen anyone of you even boast of making a site better than nairaland, so why criticize and condemn him.
you people still don't get it???!! it's his site, he can do it as he wantlet him. why would he not ban when morons are coming on the land and abusing it? he simply ask for you guys to cooperate with his rules ans regulations, you disobeyed, so why would he not ban?

ok ok ok, people keep denying. but let me ask you something.  .if you were the admin, how would you regulate this site? do you guys know the amount of scammers abusing this site? he's trying to stop it, so he bans them.  you all still complain that there are scammers on the site and sending you emails. se emails le ri? ema worry, e du ro fun igba ti won ma trace location yin  Angry , but yet you don't want him to ban them.

Exercise self control and grow up.
wowam just speechless about this one!! even though seun is not "grown up" as you claim. ,  but 90% of all nairalanders need to follow that advice. yes, you may say including me.

but am tired of going on every site and see people accusing and critisindg this bobregulating nairaland is not an easy job, you guys. imagine how you guys will control thousands of members who does not follow the rules. just imagine. yes, someone might step on our toes once in a while. ,  but when seun bans, he has a reason.
do you still not get it? IT'S NOT A EASY JOB TO KEEP PPL IN ORDER!!

this is just my 2cents  Undecided

@post
y'all think you're smart b/c he's banning your username and you can just come back? right? don't worry, continue to lavish  in you "smartness". . the day WILL come when he'll start banning your ISP, you'll see.

this is just my opinion. . .

I believe that Seun is doing the best he can in making N/Land a reputable Forum.

It is not an easy job and he should be encouraged instead of been criticised. We

all believe we can do better but forgeot the fact that uneasy lies the head that

wears the crown. This is my sincere advice for Seun: The day you start to compromise

that will be the day you start failing. You are doing a great job so far and even your

most ardent critics can bot begrudge you this. Do what you have to do without fear or favour. Ban who

needs to be banned and chastise who needs to be chastised.
