Stop being sentimental. Guess everybody will want to say his or hers is the Best. But schools like You.I,UNIBEN,OAU,ABU,UNILAG, are outstanding schools no doubt But one School Stands Out among them and it is UNN
aint u also being sentimental?

It is the fact, base on their credibility. The school is da bomb and they are living up to xpectation. They have produced many great men. here and overseas no doubt about that.

I ALWAYS TRY TO BE OBJECTIVE IN MY COMMENTS ON ONLINE DISCUSSION FORA LIKE THIS.
I AM A 'GREAT IFE', AND NATURALLY I WOULD WANT TO SAY IFE IS THE BEST. BUT BEYOND THIS, THE LATEST WEBOMETRICS WORLD UNIVERSITIES RATING RATES OAU NIGERIA'S BEST AND THE ONLY NIGERIAN UNIVERSITY IN AFRICA'S TOP 50.(CAME 44TH, UI 69TH). SO I WILL ELY ON THIS GLOBALLY QUOTED RATING. IFE IS THE BEST.

I RESPECT UI AND UNILAG TOO because I HAVE INTERACTED WITH THEIR PRODUCTS AND THEY IMPRESSED.

UNILORIN TOO IS NOT BAD, BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE SCHOOL IS TOO FAST AND MY YOUNGER BROTHER THERE COMPLAINS THAT THEY RUSH THEM TOO MUCH, RESUME TODAY, EXAM NEXT FEW WEEKS,B4 YOU SAY U-N-I-L-O,  ANOTHER SESSION HAS GONE.

MY LIST:
1.OAU
2.UI
3.UNILAG.
4.UNIBEN
5.UNN
6.UNILORIN
7.ABU
8.FUTA
9.FUT MINNA
10.======

I DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT ABOUT PRIVATE UNIS,SO THEY ARE NOT INCLUDED

You all should be ashamed of yourself. No University in Nigeria was able to make the top 40 list in the whole of Africa in the recent regional ranking. The No. 1 University in Nigeria going by the recent global ranking is Uniben which ranked 42 in Africa and almost 6000 in the world. Is that something to be proud of? Best University in Nigeria ni,  All the so call first generation Universities are all living on past glory. I don't want to mention names. I was in my 2nd year in a Public University of choice but had to leave for a private University because of strike and other wahala. That's not to say that public universities are write offs. Every institution is unique and as such no tertiary institution is a write off. Each tertiary institution in Nigeria has it's own pecularities. We should stop deceiving ourselves and  pray that God should touch the hearts of our leaders to expedite action to revitalize the education sector so that our tertiary institutions both public and private can compete favorably with universities  around the world in terms of infrastructure, standards and academic excellence .

Unless we begin to reason like kids, am sure that no one here has all the necessary statistics to comment on all the universities in Nigeria. I graduated at UNN, i have been to Unilag, Uniport, Unical, Uniuyo, Unimed, Unijos, ABU, Uniabuja, Uniben, Abia state University, Imo State University, UI, Enugu state Uni, but I must say that each of these institutions has one thing that makes it stand out among others. In this case, just because Unilag is very expensive does not becloud good accommodation standards of UNN, or that ABU has good laboratory facilities should not make nonsense of the quietness of Uniuyo, that UI is good in MEDSURG is not enough to rubbish the strong law faculty of Abia state university.

When you judge, also remember to compare the severity of cultism in these institutions as that destabilizes academic progress as well. thank you.

I can not really say the best university in nigeria, but the position of university of lagos,in centre piece of the country has really placed it on the top.Every best lecturer in nigeria wants to identify with university of lagos by virtue of its position. Just think of it, I learnt that Dr .Oluwa in unilag, Prof Jimoh, Dr Akeju, etc. just one of the few best u can have around in Nigeria. And every 4 out of 6 students in nigeria would prefer to attend unilag if they were to be sincere with themseles.but i still take that my school is one of the top three in the country- i mean Great Ife

Fellow Nigerians, You just need to travel and see,

Talking about how good our universities are, What is the result so far on our economy? We have lecturers that only teaches theories, they cant even produce any thing, I believe the best University is in CHINA, where the output of university education has alot to say,   virtually all goods on the world market today are produced in China,

Are they not humans like us?

Every day our government calls in experts,  what about our so called university graduates? What have they learnt so far from these universities u all boost of? And for the lecturers, all wat they talk about is how many degrees they hold and for govt. to  increase their pay check.

Naija Students tell your lecturers to go into research and make our own products which will have a positive effects on our economy, most student wants to be accountants when the problem of the economy is not monetary rather production.

Do not need to go into details, we all know the "structure" of Nigerian universities, and u reading this piece right now know that the best varsity in  Naija is surely a Private uni, may be COVENANT UNIVERSITY/ REDEEMERS/ BABCOCK/ BOWEN but not sure 'bout the one in Benin. Holla

I'm a proud 'GREAT IFE'. Why it may sound sentimental to say Ife is the best university in Nigeria, one thing I'm sure of is that none of these private universities comes near Ife,Lag or UI.
