its high time i started giving back to the street that made me as i benefitted a lot from this platform. if you have any question or doubts about studying and living Germany. feel free to query my database of experience/knowledge pro bonosmiley. I am sparingly available here as this is over 2 years i last visited this platform so therefore or therefore so u can mail me if its urgent. I am also keen to give updates about the current state of IT/Programming/Computing career and courses in general.

maximum respect to some of my Bosses @justwise, @Dolpaz, etc for keeping this forum alive u guys helped to rock my boat that year.

if you are struggling with programming and/or IT in general, my advice is don't give up.

one love! it can only get better for us.

Mobile app is hot cake for most companies but companies here are interested in native mobile development rather than hybrid mobile app development. i will advice to delve into android mobile development using Kotlin and ios development using swift. My team we develop in JavaScript/ES6+/React for web, Java/Kotlin for Android, and Swift for iOS. React Native is ok for mobile dev but not all teams/organisation use it for some reasons i cant detail here.

We also connect web and mobile/native by bridging JavaScript into Android and iOS. learn test driven development (TDD). You will be a super star

Good luck mehn! companies dont look at your cert but ur skills. uptodate my Hr/mgt is yet to ask me for my cert or docs. most companies will just ask u for health insurance and ur work permit for students ( ur transcripts will come handy).

Baba i hail oh, how far? sent you a pm

No matter where you land, you should be very fine from day 1 with your skills. My advice would be that once you land and have an appointment for your permit, start applying to startups or companies as a werkstudent. You will get many offers I believe particularly if you are in a big city like Koln, Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Dusseldorf, Dortmund, Frankfurt, etc.

There are different ways of getting funding for startups in Germany but you will need to understand the workings of the environment. I am sure you will attend startup events and network to get a better understanding of the terrain. There is even a way to register a company with 1euro (called a mini-GmbH) and depending on your city you can get some grants as a sole worker startup (you will have to submit a proposal and the idea has to make sense to them). This much I learned about Kiel from a professor cum startups owner.

Alternatively, apply for full time jobs directly from Nigeria if your GIT has some nice projects and you can really do the work. Tons of programmers are being recruited directly from Nigeria. No be money everybody dey find? cheesy

thanks boss, this is encouraging, sent you a pm. pls i might need your help applying to some schools.

Those in Germany already and those who are gurus in programming, which of these two packages is better to learn (see pic below)?? Between javascript and python

Please which of these two (pics) will be better to subscribe to for learning

First pic is python which the second is JavaScript
i will suggest you learn both, go fullstack. you can combine html, css,JavaScript and django for your project. dedicate alot time to it, just keep coding and build stuffs.

Please drop the link. Also is there a place someone can learn the tutorial they in Germany and how much it can cost.

I really don't know if there's a place in DE am not there yet.
But you can download good resources that can aid your development here free, just focus on practicing alot and dedicate your time, maybe 4 to 6 hour's a day coding cool.
You don't really have to go to any major school to learn how to code

Hello guys i need candid advice. As a graduate in Bsc physics here I am wary of going to do MSc in physics because I know there are gaps that one has due to the education system here in Nigeria. Now I am trying to go in to software engineering but it seems german universities won't admit you unless you did computer science as that is a requirement. My target was this summer as some schools till accept online applications but now am confused cos if I apply for physics MSc I probably will get the admission but then am scared I might face huge issues coping cos of the like I said gap in the system on the other hand if I apply for MSC computer science or software engineering I may not get it due to the fact that I don't have a background in computer science. Am so confused men. I don't want to take on more than I can chew.
Are there fundamental courses or something on e can take if I were to somehow land there.
Am running form physics even though I have loved it with passion but I know the stress i went through here and sometimes when I think back I feel like I wasted 4 years. Anyone with advice. I still wanna apply for this summer sha. Can I still cope if I went for physics though I would love to do software engineering as I can program.

Bro I think you can apply for I.T related courses expecially with your skill in physics you can apply for Artificial intelligence related courses, Tu cologne offers automation and i.t as a course and some other schools offer related courses too, take your time and go through daad.de properly you will find courses like digital engineering, embedded systems etc.

But you also need to learn how to code with python, it will do you alot of good, because that's the mother of machine learning and AI, you can start learning this on your own as you prepare towards your summer application.
If you're ready I can give you some useful links where you can get good tutorials from udemy, teamtree house and co.

Just my own piece of advice cool

Hello my people,

For anyone planning on doing msc in computer science or anything related to software development, I will advice you to learn a programming language before coming here. Its just so very very important, the professors expect you to know how to program and in every course module, there is a project in which you must develop. Most of the times you have to use a language decided by the professor, this is the reason you have to have a grip on a particular programming language before coming to germany so that you can use the idea when developing with other languages, most of the time the difference is just the syntax.

For those who know how to program already, try to create a mini project to showcase your skills this can help you in getting internships faster.

For those who are planning to work and study...... My people E NOR EASY OOO * 3 . "Body nor be Firewood"

For the hopefuls, 2019 is your year. Deutschland awaits you!

When you enter Deutschland you go know say here make sense but 9ja sweet, so enjoy yourself before coming and cherish the moments with family.

#stay blessed
Bro thanks for this piece, I guess you are a computer science student, which city are you studying?

The thing is, our people like to be lied to. I said all I said because of some pms I have been getting many times asking me some yeye questions. I wish you best of lucks but information is priceless. One of my guys got one crazy school in a better place and i was like what? had i known....i no wan make you yell like me. All things are possible, that i know; but its easier and flexible someplace. If you think say i be Olodo, you are right. If you think otherwise, you are equally right too. But if you are my brother, i will tell you same. Some people are where they pay rent for 180 euro per month here. Some of us pay 350 to 450 per month. If you add insurance, you know what you are obliged to pay in a month. If you add feeding and leisure cost, do the Maths. Shebi BA na almost same amount of money? No be the same DE we still dey? No be same Cert we go get las las? no be same Payper we go still get las las? no be d same sitizensheep we go get las las? why go where e go hard you?

I believe in the winner in you.

K'emesia.

Bros I greet o, I day read your words of wisdom grin. I am a developer, frontend and I also code with Django, Python framework, how's the job market and atmosphere for tech startups over there?? I am coming to study applied computer science or intelligent systems, also thinking of diving into AI and computer vision this year before I get to DE this summer. Just to make things easier for me while studying. My uncle day Kassel so I will possibly applying to universities closer to the city.

greetings to every body in this forum, have been following this forum for some years now but i am still confused about how admission for masters students work, a friend of mine wants to do his masters in Germany, i have introduced him to some skulls including the daad.de/en website but he said the skulls are still asking him for aptitude test in German despite the course being taught in English language, please my question is are they skulls that offer admission to masters students without asking for the a1 and a2 aptitude test? although his making various efforts to learn German.
