Will the falconets get visa for the world cup?
Very poor logistics so far. Other teams are already in and acclimatising

Morocco yet to score in open play. Few free kicks and VAR penalties. Nothing spectacular about them actually.

The morocco game will be tough as hell. It may go to penalties. The lasers embarassed

Someone should tell the Naija fans to invest in Lasers. Three lasers per person, carry two for hand, one for mouth. An eye for an eye.

I think Morocco will be an easier game. We will dominate fully.

one of the Mamelodi sundowns Twitter handle predicted Cameroon will edge us. They've gotten the Zambia and Morocco predictions right. Bad belle grin

The whole SA is praying for Nigeria not to get to the final. Our team is actually building a momentum and if we go to the final, it will be hard to stop us.

Cameroon is not as strong as 2016 or 2018. Neither are we, solely based on the tactical lag with this coach.
I still believe the coach is doing ok, he's learning and I hope he sticks with Ucheibe against Chikwelu. That midfield is key tomorrow.

If Botswana beat SA 1-0, we will top the group. This is quite possible actually

Looking forward to quarter final already. We might play Cameroon and that should be easier.

Meanwhile we might see a 6 goal or more pasting of Burundi.

Ayinde back to form too.

Racing Louisville (USA) have signed Thembi Kgatlana (26) from Atlético de Madrid Femenino.

The Banyana Banyana attacker has signed a two-year deal with an option to renew.

NWSL defenders: Look out.

We’ve signed Thembi Kgatlana, the 2018 Africa Cup of Nations Player of the Tournament, on a transfer from Atlético Madrid.

“We were looking for a winger/forward who has a good first touch and is not afraid to dribble and attack – and we have found exactly that with Thembi.”

Not as good as she used to be. Can't cut it in Europe?

I disagree.

Ashleigh and Alozie are obviously great players, but our best players are so far still home grown. That this team has been shambolic is not in anyway a true representation of the immense talent we have.

If we commit to the same process the South African's have in building and developing women's football, we would definitely be vying for the world cup in a few years

Actually, for all the growth SA is boasting of, they're still way behind in terms of talents we have for our super falcons team. We have super players waiting in the wings to replace these aged players stinking the place. That's why I preferred the abroad ones.
In 4 years, our central defence will be Ashley and Demehin.
We continue to produce great U17s and U20s and that is our strength. When we refuse to use these players and only use 35 year old immobile Rita as a DM against a fast moving team like SA, we only have ourselves to blame.

Based on Ashley and Alozie's performances, we should be recruiting more abroad players. They are more intelligent.

If we play SA again, I'll go proper 442 with a different DM pair.. Regina Otu and Ucheibe. Very mobile.

SA didn't really do anything serious till the crazy 2 minutes when they scored 2 goals. My issue is that Falcons were totally ineffective as an attacking team. Oshoala was stinking the place up and only Ajibade was trying.
And Chikwelu as DM was just chasing shadows playing further upfront.

Actually we did contain South Africa for a long time and we did it well. But that was all.
We didn't have an attacking outlet. Oshoala was piss poor. Ajibade tried so much to make things happen.
Toni Payne was ineffective in the system too. We should play 442 going forward.

Positives
1. Chikwelu exposed. Let's see if the coach is senseless again to start her next match.
2. Keeper is going to change. This one doesn't give any confidence.
3. We have better players on the bench, as is shown when the subs came in.
4. Oshoala is out. As bad as this looks, Oshoala is actually not helping this team. She takes away many team plays and ruins them. Her asset is speed, but not much after that.
5. Michelle Alozie is a baller!
6. Coming 2nd in the group is actually better as it puts us on the easier path to final.

Next match will be much easier. Our next tough game might be in the semi final.

The better side is winning. Chikwelu and Ayinde absent while Oshoala was doing bigmanism.

Sports / Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 6:59pm On Jul 04, 2022
Chikwelu was never going to make any impact against a top team. She's not a DM, she's not helping the attack too.
A goal to SA will expose us so bad. Just remove Chikwelu and put Okobi to force issues.
Sports / Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 5:00pm On Jul 04, 2022
Randy's starting 11 is very boring and the midfield will be terribly exposed with Chikwelu. Except Ajibade drops to play as a 10, we may be chasing shadows while SA run rings round our midfield with speed.

Rumours going around that Francisca Ordega is ineligible due to high testosterone levels. Same so Barbara Banda and 8 others.
There's a list going round.

If that's the case, CAF is overdoing it.

If you watch the Banyana Banyana of South Africa game against the Netherland few months ago you would know very well that they only stand a slight chance against the Superfalcons right now...

Their Left Back position is another weakness they have, Coach Desiree Ellis will have to move Ramalepe who can play on either side of the fullback from the right back to left to save their Ass, if not whosoever that would be playing there will definitely have it tough against our forward...If you watch the Banyana Banyana of South Africa game against the Netherland few months ago you would know very well that they only stand a slight chance against the Superfalcons right now...

SA lost to Zambia 3-0 with the barely mobile central defence they have. This is probably the best prepared Super falcons team in a long time. Played almost 10 top grade games this year. At least the coach picked a good blend too. If they stay injury free, it will be hard to beat them.

I am sincerely not looking forward to be impressed by the overall play of the super falcons. I'll rather not expect it and be surprised than eagerly anticipate it and have my hope dashed.

I however think the team is strong and balanced enough to win the trophy irrespective of how "badly" they play. They'll make up for it somehow.

As for Rita's replacement, we need to start making room for others. She really doesn't bring anything worthwhile to the team so there's no point keeping her.
Amanda Mbadi. Very natural replacement.

There's Solgado in the SA team. She's currently their rising star ...

The depth we have no team have it in the AWCON..

Talking about having Fullbacks, We have them
Michelle Alozie isn't a natural Right Back but she gets better with every game she plays..

Again Nicole Payne is an excellent and the fastest full back in the team going forward and back, her only problem right now is her final deliveries( Decision Making) after overlapping. Use the first game against Canada as a case study, she had the chance from her flank down to the Canadian box18 but her final pass was off, if she can work on this I bet she would be a superb full back as she's good playing Left/Right. Her mentor is Alexander Alnord and Lucy Bronze and she plays similarly like them..

As for Glory Ogbonna, I will say she's the weakest link among the full backs..
I thought Solgado is injured and not going to Morocco.
I like this Nigerian team very much for the nice blend of youth and experience.
Will you go with 442 or 352 considering that SA will target our full backs or try to draw Onome or Ohale out? I'll like to have Ayinde start as the holding DM.
Sports / Re: Nigeria Female National Teams' Thread by olapluto(m): 8:32am On Jun 27, 2022
South Africa hasn't greatly improved. They aren't going to surprise anyone anymore. Their gameplay is same. Quick, counter attack to play to Kgatlana. Rafilo Jane as an outlet and Mothlalo as the midfield vision.

Dennerby tactically shut them down in the last Awcon final. Kgatlana didn't see any ball after the first 20 minutes.
In the Aisha Buhari cup, they had Solgado as a 9 to assist Kgatlana and that worked by stretching Onome Ebi. With Ohale coming in, we should tame Kgatlana since there's no Solgado in the team this time.
Our strength will be a solid, balanced team. Our weakness is the right and left back positions. Oshoala finding her scoring book is also key.
If we play a solid 442 or even 352, we will best them very well.
Game changer will be the link between midfield and attack for us. We can use Ajibade there and deploy Toni Payne on the flank.

Brotherly but how can we justify what we watched on the pitch. Well in hindsight he shouldn't have been sacked sha. He would never have lost to Ivory Coast
I think it was clear that he wanted some balance first before advancing new tactics. We all saw the organisational improvement, and he improved a lot of the local players. Okeke, Anam Imo and others will be forever grateful to him.

This is why I kept backing the guy. See how he helped a lot of our players get contracts abroad. I really feel bad that we didnt let him finish his project here.
