Definitely better than nothing and btw IBM is a good brand, similar to Accenture in my opinion. I assume you are referring to the I.T. Consulting arm. Any experience will make a difference

Yes, said it right. To me it was short and I wish it was up to 6 months or 1 yr. I worked with GTS, IBM's IT Consulting and Outsourcing division.

Yeah, he said they refused him usage of POS.

Yes, you can, but they'll refund the money back to the card grin
That huge sum, in Naira, is best moved via school fees payment on the mastercard or the ugly old change and transfer

or you check how much western union will charge you. You don't have to change the money to transfer it and they use standard rates.

Good morning everyone. Thanks to you all for the help from the other thread.

I finally arrived here on monday morning. Immediately i came out from the airport, it felt like i entered a deep freezer, was told it only got this cold that monday, though i also hear it is not that cold yet and i am freezing already......lol

Well, so far, i have called job house and they will deliver my application package for NI no application form soon. Have booked an appointment at barclays to open an account. I am still looking for acco though staying with a friend now, saw one online, a couple that wanted to rent a room in their flat, dropped my no, they called asked wat i do and where i am from, told them, the man said he'd get back to me, didnt hear from him again, called him and he asked 'you said you are Nigerian right' emmmm, someone came and viewd the place after i spoke with you earlier and liked the place and has made some deposit....well, my search continues

I need advise on how to get cheap but good laptop, need the small sized ones that'd fit into my handbag, don wanna carry hand bag and carry laptop differently.

Lectures have started and assignments are already pouring in and i intend to take everything academic very seriously, i didnt come all the way to lazy around......though everything still sounds a bit greek to me cos i started from final year since its a top up program and i didnt have my previous studies here, i know it'll take a lil time to understand and get used to

Please, pour in all the advise that will help me in this journey.

Chaii, all these sweet talks about the UK, una wan make I waka come back aha smiley

To the new MSc students, it is not too early to start planning what you would like to do after your program (either staying back legally in the UK or porting to the next level). That 15-18 months visa you are holding will expire soon, yes, soon! Time seems to be faster in that part of the world grin The chances of getting a job back in the UK are really slim, this is a reality and not in anyway trying to discourage anyone. Miracles do happen.

As for me, even before I got there, I knew I would be leaving the UK post-MSc - so I didn't bother applying for jobs.

Best of wishes to you all.

My people good evening! Its been a bit since I've been here, trying to settle down took longer than I expected. The experience so far has been good, my Uni is really beautiful with a lake in it and wonderful art pieces everywhere. Oga justwise you were right oo surrey is actually a posh area and things cost! Infact eh I stopped reasoning exchange rate before I get heart attack lol.

SpikesC and Kingsilly I also tried to deposit by POS but both banks I opened accounts with (Llyods & NatWest) said it isn't possible. So na ATM withdrawal and deposit win am oo after all 420naira is barely 1.55quid per withdrawal grin which is decent I must say, I was able to withdraw 1060quid today so I can pull out another 1k in the morning to deposit in my accounts. I've been making most payments via POS and the exchange rate isn't as horrible as I thought it would be.

GeneralShepherd you should try out SportsDirect for nice winter wears and warm clothing at very sweet prices (remain small I for max out my GTB mastercard cos the prices were too tempting lol).

Finally, who fails to plan plans to fail. Lets all all get out our planning hats and plan the hell out of our future! One love mates.

Sorry bro. I wasn't the one that did it, it was my bro. He used his GTB atm and deposited with a POS.
And yes, i am very sure it worked then.

Nevertheless, there's this club i went to on Wednesday that has a POS for free cashbacks. I asked the chick if it's unlimited and she said yes, as far as they have the cash to pay you. I guess it should be the same in most night clubs.
But really, this should just be an option for someone who intend to move a huge amount, bit by bit, and really cares about the 420 per transaction. The person should consider security ooo.

I for one don't like carrying cash at all. I really prefer running my transactions on cards and internet banking.
Luckily for me, i paid all my school fees via my Naira mastercard and moved my maintenance money via international transfer as it was in my pounds domiciliary account, all thanks to University of Derby grin grin grin
Infact, make God bless them well well for me cheesy

Hello Just wise & co.

I would be travelling tomorrow night from MMA to arrive at Birmingham by Sunday morning.

As a first timer, how many hours before my departure time do I need to be at the MM Airport?
What do I do as soon as I get there?

About how many hours would it take me to clear with immigration at the POE (UK) so I can make provision for National Express Bus time-table.?

I'm considering booking a N.E coach from Birmingham to Milton Keynes. Does anyone know if I can pay on arrival or must I book earlier?

This are my questions. Any & Every related answer (or better alternatives) will be appreciated.

Thanks.

The check in time should be stated on your ticket, it's normally 2hrs, considering the Ebola check and all that.

Immigration process at Heathrow airport will depend on how many flights that arrived at that time, it's normall quick though.

If you have somebody in the UK they can get you NE ticket in advance else you can buy one at their office in healthrow airport there though more expensive.
Why do you want to travel to MK from Birmingham rather than from healthrow which is shorter?

Thanks for the reply.

My ticket was purchased by the company sponsoring my scholarship so I didn't really have a say.

I don't have anybody staying in the UK I know of. But like how much difference are we talking about if I get the ticket there?

I really don't know how much you will be charged at the airport but it will be almost double the amount you will get if booked in advance.

I learnt that the Ebola screening has started at Heathrow (and other major airports) for in bound flights from West Africa so you might need to factor in the extra time you would spend at the airport before you are allowed in (If you intend to book your coach tickets before hand)
I suggest you just buy the tickets when you London Victoria… The price difference may be significant but…. It's safer to pay a slightly higher amount than to have to pay twice...

But in the Airport Meeting Service form, there's no option for those using Birmingham airport, which happens to be my port of arrival.

Or is there something I'm missing?
