Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has fallen out
with his Netherlands team-mates over perceived greediness.
Schalke’s Klaas-Jan Huntelaar was furious at Van Persie’s
decision to shoot rather than pass to him during Friday’s
night’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Kazakhstan.
Huntelaar was visibly furious on the pitch and the row
spilled over into the post-match interviews.
He told NOS: “If that ball had come to me, I could have ran it
in to the goal. I was focused on that chance and wanted to
score as soon as possible.
“If you must have the ball, you might get upset sometimes.
That happens in a game. But we’ve won. That’s most
important.”
Van Persie hit back, claiming that Huntelaar was going a bit
over the top.
He said: “In that position I was right to shoot. The reaction

The United star also blanked Huntelaar during a later goal
celebration.
Former Netherlands midfielder Mark van Bommel, who
played alongside both of the strikers, criticised Van Persie for
his comments and reaction.
Van Bommel said: “Van Persie is the captain, he should solve
these problems in the dressing room.”
Both players ended up on the scoresheet in a 3-1 win, which
is probably just as well or matters could have really got out of
hand.
