A Plea To The Nigerian Government For The Release Of SA SCOAN Victims Bodies! by Nobody: 3:12pm On Oct 12, 2014
This is an appeal, a plea to Nigerians to help pressure their Government to release the bodies of the South African SCOAN disaster victims to enable their families to bury them in dignity.

In South Africa the dead are buried within a week or two weeks especially when the cause of death is an accident. Unlike in Nigeria South Africans bury even their most respected at most in two weeks as seen with the passing of Nelson Mandela. This is to allow the families enough time to deal with the loss and focus on moving on with their lives.

In the case of the SCOAN disaster victims, the dead were in a spiritual journey to find healing, hope and God but seemingly found death, hopelessness and the devil himself personified in human skins in the form of the Nigerians government. They have frustrated every attempt by the SA government to serve their citizens even in death and loss with some dignity and comfort.

When the disaster hit the SA government did not aportion blame but sent their disaster teams to help recover their citizens bodies but where met with not only governmental red tape but even the church (SCOAN ) wouldn't allow the teams to help. Not only was the investigation shadowed in secrecy but the church dished out their own curses and threats in order to scare away any attempt to find justice or truth of what happened and allow their families somekind of peace.

While the victims families have learnt to live with this injustices they have now been subjected to even more torture of waiting for their loved ones for almost a month now, in the name of DNA testing. The SA government had offered to help to do the DNA testing themselves as they have the expertise since the Nigerian government had accepted that they lack the capabilities and needed to outsourcing the function to third parties, which subjects the process to even a longer period. This also was rejected by the Nigerian government for what good reason, only God knows.

Not only the timing of this whole process has proven to be tortureous to the victims families, they have also learnt that the Nigerian government has no utilities to ensure that the bodies are preserved in a humanly manner until the process is complete. But the bodies of the victims are rotting away as result of lack of ice in their mortuaries and are being kept by fans which will have zero effect on preserving the bodies. Now the victims families were informed to expect to hold closed casket burial as the state of the bodies is in complete rot.

I personally find this appalling and disgusting in the name of flexing muscles. With all the going ons and bear between SA & Nigerians governments:

What about humanity? What South Africans call "Ubuntu"?

What about the orphans, widows, brothers, sisters, mothers,, fathers, friends & communities that are subjected to such pain and hopelessness?

What about the dead who cannot speak for themselves?

What are about the lost souls who are still looking to find God?

What does it say about the Gospel of Christ?

Why are the so called "Christians" quiet and only come out to chant " do my prophet no harm"?

What happened to the rest of the bible? Where it says "love your neighbour as you love youself"?

Why are Christians not calling for the swift release of the bodies to show that even if such a disaster happened, God is love and remains love in the sight of dark cloud that befell these people?

What about the future of these two countries?

What about those caught in the divide?

Do South Africans & Nigerians really want to push their healthy competitive spirits to real evil enemies?

What about Africa? what about blackness?

What about the world?

What about HUMANITY?

WE MIGHT ALL INSULT EACH OTHER ON NAIRALAND AS PLAY, PLAY BUT EVENTUALLY WE NEED TO WAKE UP TO REALITY. GENOCIDE, REVOLUTIONS AND WARS START LIKE THIS. LETS KNOW WHEN TO STOP AND SAY NO! ITS OUR RESPONSIBILITY, WE ARE THE FUTURE!

Shocking to say the least. I'm really sorry about everything. Honestly I don't even see any reasons why the bodies were not released at once

You must see the pain in the family members of these victims in church every Sunday. Praying for the samething and wailing for something that needs only humans to be humans!

Thanks brother on their behalf!

This was a church disaster not a political rally. Where are Christians in Nigeria who will shout "not in our name"?

Modified...your likes do not deserve decency. You are crass. So before you get all sensitive about shiiiit, read what the report says. Comparison my foot. Now there. . .bi&***!

"We are looking at three weeks," Professor John Obafunwa, chief medical examiner of Lagos State and vice-chancellor of the state university, was quoted as saying.

"I would be surprised if we had to wait till November... I expect all bodies to be out by that time.

The inquest could drag on for weeks and months. But we're not going to delay the release of bodies to family members because of that."

Obafunwa was overseeing the identification process and was speaking from Lagos University Teaching Hospital, where some of the remains were being kept.

Obafunwa said the autopsies had been completed and samples were shipped out for DNA analysis.

He said the process of identification had been slow because Nigeria did not have facilities to analyse DNA.

On September 12, 116 people, among them 84 South Africans, were killed when a multi-storey guesthouse attached to the church collapsed in Lagos.

I really am ashamed right now because I'm suspecting the unnecessary slow bureaucracy of our public officials for this travesty who might just be expecting a greasing of their palms... I'm so so sorry, I really wish there was something I could do right now as we speak but I pray God strengthens you all throughout this period

You want Nigerians to help you after calling it's government devil?

Haba, change tactics, for this won't work. Nigerians are always united when it comes to dealing with issues like this irrespective of our obvious differences.

OP,

Its obvious you don't understand how Govt works. Video clips from CCTV shows a remote controlled demolition of the 6 storey building belonging to SCOAN instead of a suspected structural failure. The situation requires max care and proper investigation especially with the way SA is portraying Nigeria b4 the West and Globally.

Well, I understand the investigation but they should accept help where they fall short.

What I do not understand is your second part on how SA portray Nigeria. So are you saying this is intentional?

If you say it is intentional and you agree with it then, it closes my plea.

thanks for a clean response.

You are soo dummb, even if the information is plastered.in your darned head you would not see it. Read before you ask dummb questions. If you do have DNA facilities why did your government hire a South African private company to do your DNA testing after turning the SA government down? So much for empty, stupid pride and chest beating.
