Why are there so many young international students ?

Quite a few are under 18.

many countries go straight from school to uni...no A-level years

from secondary school - university; some do their entrance exams before their final year.

You'll notice some cant cope with the independence...some struggling with style of teaching in the uk as they dont have teachers chasing them for assignment and attendance...etc etc

One other thing to be aware of is 1gb of data is not as much as it sounds and the cost of using above your alloted 1gb will be high. If not careful you can easily end up with monthly bills of £60ish

Gone are the days when unlimited minutes were a big deal. It's all about data now.

Hence I stated bumper bundle, including unlimited data bundle(not subject to fair use policy).

Yeah, that's true. Some of them did a foundation year in the uni, so I guess they have some experience of what university may be like.

Lemme see

Now I'm confused..

@ kingsilly i think the offer is good if you make alot uk calls because i did lyca 100mins for uk calls and i finished everything within 10 days so i did my calculation about your offer and that will give me onthly bill of 20pounds for unlimited calls and text with 1gb on phone so i have ordered one too and it will be delivered to my place tomorrow and i think i think the 1gig is going to be enough for me in a month because i have unlimited broadband at home and i can use school wifi when am in school so the 1gig is just for the road

Pompey uni wifi is very good because of the way the lecture buildings and accommodations are spread wide apart you get wifi pretty much everywhere around the uni.

Was quite straight forward..just went to THREE office said I want iphone on contract..she just collect my details like passport address nd my Barclay card details..£100 upfront nd £45 monthly..iphone6......dazall
I think that is quite expensive. If you must do contract, I usually advice sim only. I think you have a few days to cancel if you wish. I have never used a contract line - currently use vectone- Unlimited data (3GIG), 500 mins (UK and International) and 3000text. All for £10. If you can afford it then you may retain the phone/line otherwise, I see no reason to pay for an over priced gadget. With £200 you can get a decent smartphone.

Exactly! You wound't be spending much time outside home and uni everyday, even when you are outside you will be on the move rather than seating out using the wifi.

Hi all, anybody here studying in university of strathclyde or in Glasgow, arrived here yesterday and got to say, it's cold and wet more than how I thought it would be. And I have not seen plenty black people and it's making me feel lonely.
Hey! That's my Alma mater. There are lots of Nigerians in Glasgow. I miss that town and the school. Which course are you going for?

I don't know about Aberdeen but University of Strathclyde's MBA program is very good and not as expensive as some of the "big" schools. check www.strath.ac.uk

Guys!

You can get three UK sim card which comes with unlimited data and minutes plus free tethering. Just connect your laptop to your phone. Easy and cheap. Why pay over the top for broadband?
Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by anusule(m): 12:09pm On Oct 14, 2014
Most Unis are part of https://www.eduroam.org/

So you should be able to use your school's eduroam login at other uni campuses as well.

Please is urgent.

I am in a small dilemma right now.

I apply to TP Abuja and my visa has been ready for collection since Friday 10th.

But here is my dilemma, i pay for courier service (which happen to be my mistake i made) for my package to be sent to me at in Warri, thinking i will fly from Lagos.

Now the firm sponsoring me said i will fly via abuja, hence i contact TP thru their complaint page that i would now like to pick my visa personally.

But since then; i have not receive a response from them neither i have received the package via courier; and the sponsor is requesting that i come to their office in abuja tomoro (wednesday) by 10:30am to submit my passport for flight booking - becos i have already told them that my visa is ready for collection on friday 10th.

My request:
Is it advisable to just go to TP centre office tomoro morning (as i am scare they may just send to my address in warri)?
Or does anyone have number TP contact number for me to reach?

The thing with phone contacts, they are now more or less 24 months. I've been here long enough to see contracts go from 12 to 18 and now 24 months. The heavy fees are not usually for the services, but for the phone itself. I've been rocking the £20 three contract for so long, it's getting silly.
First it was the 1000 off peak minutes no text, then the 500 anytime minutes with 100 texts, then I got an additional free 1gb internet 'cause i've been with them so long. Plus, the free skype calls were very handy. Then someone at three messed up and gave me free all you can eat Internet.
Then everything changed [when the fire nation attacked] during the recession, they took away my free internet when I was forced to change to the 900 minutes/texts contract, argued with them as I am a long term customer and the internet add on was given as a loyalty bonus, I got back the free 1gb, where I was told the additional all you can eat freebie was a mistake. Then finally caved in and bought the all you can eat Internet add on (£3), when I started relying heavily on my mobile data. Then thanks to the stupid 20% VAT, it increased by 70p. Apparently, I now have 2000 mins for three to three calls and I still have the free 1gb.
Wait a sec, those dudes owe me an upgrade.

You see why I love my pay as you go? Vodafone has a deal whereby you topup £10 a month and get 150mins and about 500mb and still keep your £10. If you ran out of mins you can buy extra 100mins for £5.

500MB would not do for me at all. At the end of the day, I pay £20.70 for 900 minutes/texts and the additional 2000 minutes for three to three calls. An additional £3 for all you can eat internet add-on. Now, I know there are now decent sim only contracts. eg three has a £7 per month 12 month contract - 200 minutes, 500MB & unlimited texts (yes they're people who text like crazy folks, can't be bothered to text, when I can say a million words in a minute). There's even a £10 one with 600 minutes, 1gb & unlimited texts.

At the end of the day, you just have to look for a better deal, it's not a must to have the latest phone. Always remember, they have to recoup their money one way or the other.

Why buy an iPhone 6 when an xperia Z not z1, z2,Z3 can give you all you need in a phone?

Anyway all pockets are not equal. As you see me so I Don learn how to barb my own hair, I can't spend £12 a week on a haircut.

My point is cut out unnecessary spending.

You should try braiding your hair. When I lived in Plymouth, there were only 2 salons that dealt with African hair, one of them was an oyinbo surfer themed salon, where the only woman who knew how to handle African hair turned up twice a week, then proceeded to tell me it would cost me £20 per hour. My hair is natural. I left that place real quick.
