For those against the airport being sited around the Otuocha axis are wrong IMHO, remember that that part of the state is one of least developed and trying to site it around Awka or Oba as some posited will only add to the congestion around those places. We need to take every part of the state along along.

Siting the airport in Awka will congest Awka....our capital needs less human traffic for security reasons. This was the major reason why federal capital was moved from Lagos to Abuja. Anambra population is growing exponentially; Gov. Obiano stated in the interview on page 43 of this thread that Anambra population grew by 64%...from 4.5million in 2006 to estimated 7million today. If we do a rough linear projection, we could be at 10million by 2020. What does this translate to without purposeful planning ahead of this growing population? Horrendous traffic, congestion, noise & air pollution and risk other towns/communities not developing. One of the uniqueness of Anambra state is it's not a one-big-city state as you will find in many other states. Awka, Nnewi and Onitsha are all on the same level! We must continue in that same pattern of developing and opening every town in the state!

Good road network from Otuocha to Awka is enough, as for tourist sites, i think that's what the SG is trying to develop and implement.
