Fayemi Stephen Olu Is A Scam On OLX by meganforex: 10:53pm On Dec 06, 2014
Here is my experience with OLX. I saw an advert on olx on a laptop which was advertised for 25 thousand naira coming with model. Only for me to call him and was told that he stays in portharcourt. then I asked why he posted it on oredo/benin city session he said he was a dealer that deals on UK used products so he wants to get clients from all over the country.

We then agree on the price which he said he would way bill the laptop to benin city. He asked that I should transfer ten thousand naira (N10,000) to his account and after the transfer he would send the laptop through God is Good motors to me. After I transferred to his account, he gave me a number 09050981565 which he claimed was a staff of God is Good. I tried his number 07065066614 and the other number for hours and days it kept on ringing and he refused to pick up my call.

His details are
name: Fayemi Stephen Olu
numbers: 07065066614, 09050981565
Account name & number first bank , 3084871524

His details in OLX are Adeyemi and his adverts usually carries clean pictures with "coming with modem"
E.g. HP for sale coming with modem

He is a scam please be well and avoid falling victim to this scam. If you want proof that I paid to his account, I can post it here.

Even Konga and Jumia offer you option of pay on delivery. Wisen up bro. Painful u've just lost 10k. Just let it go. Except if you want to inform EFCC. And then, you might be arrested for being too greedy. See as the guy catch you keep?

Go to where you paid the money to his account, then report to the bank and his account will be placed on HOLD, then you will see he will refund your money sharp sharp, a friend of mine recovered his money like that.

Don't be too quick to judge. Even if it was advertised at 70k, the scammer will still scam him.
Let's be sensitive when we make comments. Its like saying any lady who encountered Stephanie Okereke`s brother online deserved to be devoured in real life.

I hope OLX knows their site has been used to perpetrate evil and is a scam channel for some unscrupulous Nigerian youths who see nothing wrong in fleecing their fellow Nigerians of their hard earned cash.

Even in America, Nigerians residing there have become master scammers across all social networks its just pity what we have become, "a cursed nation". The average Nigerian is just fraudulent. My 2 cents.

@OP, you could trace the scammer by involving the police to approach his bank or mobile operator with the numbers listed. However, since it is just 10k, I don't know if you wanna go through all that trouble for petty theft (the scammer must have been banking on this, imagine scamming 20 people of 10k a day for 30days, that's 6 million naira monthly, 72 million naira annually. choi OLX!)

@OP... Na wa for you o... Were you too blinded by price that you forgot to read the "Safety Tips"? Its even showing clearly on the screenshot you have attached on this post that you should meet before you pay.

We all need to be careful when buying from people who say they will deliver and want you to pay before the item comes. Be Smart!
Re: Fayemi Stephen Olu Is A Scam On OLX by meganforex: 4:42pm On Dec 07, 2014
Well before you start raining abuses no one is too wise to be a victim. Mind you I have been into online business for years and never fallen victim. I had pressure from a friend who wanted me to buy on his behalf even if I told him this would be a risk since I haven't seen the person before I just tried to believe someone for once ok?

I have had too good to be true offers from aliexpress and alibaba and turned down their offers and was able to import from a genuine seller/dealer. It is not a crime to speak up, this would help others from getting scammed okay?

Have you not one time or the other be played before? And mind your statement I bought a laptop recently for 30 thousands and if I tell you it is new you would believe me. November and December is a period for sales. So think before you talk Mr. No It All and Wisest Man on Earth.

You are right he could scam more persons and the more reason why I had to expose it here on nairaland to prevent others from falling victims. As a matter of fact when I told some of my friends they were surprised because truth is that they depend on me for most of their online transactions and business. Like I wrote earlier it was a pressure from a buyer that I should buy on his behalf that made me place the order hurriedly.

Nobody is smarter.

Hmmm! We have so many judges in the house. I don't have much to say to you but it is obvious you are not in the internet business otherwise I have ordered from Aliexpress and Asos without physical contact. I have ordered good product at lower price from aliexpress. If you are too anxious to post a comment you should stick to facebook. tongue

Since when did it become a crime to speak up oga. "You have read on nairaland couple of times that olx is a scam" assuming my post would just be the first time a prospective buyer at OLX would come across wouldn't him be grateful and become more cautious. How many persons know of nairaland? Or haven't you thought that when some searches for "olx scam" on Google pages like this might come up easily on Google search result or help rank nairaland?

Am coming here to cry so that others won't cry like me. I am not self centered otherwise I would simply just walk straight to the bank and lay the complaint instead of receiving insults from Self centered Perfectionist like you. Truth is I saw this coming as am a huge fan of nairaland.

By the way is there anyone here that can boast he/she has never one way or the other be scammed so that I can name you "Superman" unless you are below 10 years.

Back to the main topic. As we all speak and as I write if you search on OLX for laptop, his advert is advertised in all states and are all recent adverts which means more persons are being scammed continuously. it could be someone you know that would be next to be scammed so be helpful.

Anyway, I had to create a page to help create awareness : http://olxscamalert..com

@bolded, sending money to someone you have never seen is not bad, i have done it before and i will still do it purely on business . The only problem is "awoof" you must not fall cheap. I always make my research before sending any money to some i have never met before and luckily for me my reviews are always positive. The op want awoof and he got awoofed. Greediness cause his loss. On a site that i can't read the seller review then i can only deal with such seller in an open and neutral ground (physically).

This one is off point. Has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

@ op, olx is totally different from the likes of aliexpress etc. The owners are only interested in advertising their site. They are not really interested in what goes on in it.
I can guarantee you that only about one in ten (or even less) of every ad on olx is genuine. The rest are pure scams where they use very low prices to lure the greedy and gullible.

Even after OLX clearly stated in their media adverts that you MUST meet the person in an open place to do your transaction!!

NIGERIANS FIND IT HARD TO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS WHETHER SIMPLE OR HARD!!!!!!!

I bought my present blackberry phone through OLX.

Me and the person met at Stadium Road in Port-Harcourt on a sunday morning and i saw and inspected the phone before giving him the agreed price which was not a GREEDY price.

I normally check the root of any of those pix those boys display on site like olx before transcating with them, somtimes I discover that the said pix has been used by someone else before, to advertise a product, same too with cars, some of the scammers do copy them from other car sites like cheki etc and place them on olx, but with the ability to check the root of the pix, u can easily tell the originality of the said product, if its actaually the sellers product you will know.
