all4naija: That's y it's called a diversion. Assuming d US is blocking our arms purchase it wouldn't supply arms to us just to implicate Russia. That leaves only one credible answer. And it's definitely not chad. |

Lmao @ crap journalism by Nigerian pseudo-journalists.  Antonov isn't a Russian plane, it's a Ukrainian aircraft company. If it were Russia, it would've been Ilyushin. The reason why the plane made an emergency forced landing in kano was because the N'Djamena airport was closed. A more comprehensive side of the story in the yahoo news link below here. KANO, Nigeria (Reuters) - Nigeria detained a Russian cargo plane and its French-speaking crew on Saturday after it made an unauthorised landing in the northern city of Kano with military hardware bound for neighbouring Chad, a security source said. An air force spokesman confirmed the plane had been detained but gave no further details. The plane had been travelling from Bangui, the capital of Central African Republic, to the Chadian capital N'Djamena but was forced to make an emergency landing in Kano because N'Djamena airport was closed, the security source said. He said after the five crew members were detained, inspectors found two helicopters, a bullet-proof jeep and boxes of what were suspected to be military hardware. The Russian embassy in Abuja did not immediately respond to a request for comment. It was not clear what the shipment was for. Chadian fighters have been involved in Central African Republic's conflict since Muslim Seleka rebels seized the southern capital Bangui in 2013. Mysterious arms shipments have caused controversy in Nigeria before. A Nigerian court sentenced an alleged member of Iran's Revolutionary Guard and a Nigerian accomplice to five years in prison in May last year over an illegal shipment of mortars and rockets seized in the main port of Lagos in 2010. The point you people keep missing is that the aircraft has no links to Russia ! The aircraft is an Antonov, and Antonov is a Ukrainian company ! I beg you guys to stop heating this debate. Russia is our biggest supplier of weapons, only ennemies of Nigeria want to destroy the relationship between Nigeria and Russia. The americans who many of you like so much have abandonned us and they have forced their western allies to do same. Russia is practically saving us, yet some ungreatfull people keep writing foolish comments. Is this a death wish ? Do you really wish to stop our supply of weapons ? emmatok:First of all I do not have any way to verrify your claim. What I know is that Antonov is a ukrainia company, right ? And even if Russia uses a few Antonov, it still doesn't make this particular aircraft Russian ! Why would you spot a ukrainian made aircraft and call it Russian ? And look, Russia is the country which is providing Nigeria with attack hellicopters (MI35M) and tanks and other military equipment which the west refused us. Russia is practically saving Nigeria, so sorry if we chose to not accuse them without proof. I don't think you are a Nigerian. We Nigerians are greatful to Russia, thanks to them our military has the weapons to take on the bad guys. |

patriot4: Your correct The plane is Not from Russia. This helicopter is a french Helicopter called Aerospatiale gazelle. It was one of the goods being transported in the aircraft and Russia does not have this product in her Asrenal. Now why would Russia be carrying a french chopper to chad? I believe the plane is from France 1 Like
