If anyone reads your comments, it looks as if they shot on their superior. So be careful not to create misinformation.

They refused to fight, they fired their weapons and caused unrest among the units, I suggest you do more research on this case because there's a lot more to it.

I did not follow the case, no place in the article said they fired shots. Can you post an article that said these 54 soldiers fired shots?

Never join the military because you need Job , or you wanted to get regular payment into account montly as government worker while sitting in the barrack harassing citizen or because you want to be respected as uniform men in the society, if you know you don't have the heart for war, better stay as civilians or else this is what you will get.

If war rise above the military, the civilans will force themselves out to fight. This is the what gave birth to Civilian joint tast force, if it got worst, the entire Nigerians will surely rise to fight or bow to BH... when you are joining the military and receiving constant payments , remember one day, you could be called into War

These Soldiers were ready to fight. They did not want to fight without enough ammunition.

Cannot do that but Google is your best friend, my assertions are based on 2 family members in the Nigerian military and my close friends. This is not the first time mutiny occurred in the military and not the first time such a sentence has been passed down, civilians should stay out of military affairs!

There is no report like that until you prove so. The article made it clear that they are sentenced for refusing an order. In the article, it clearly states the first batch of twelve were accused of shooting at their superior. If there was a shooting case here, it would have been stated.

If you can not prove it, stop making accusations.

In the military law, you must obey "the order"! Even if your commanding officer, commanded you to shoot your father, you must obey or or.....

The military law is not like the normal laws. That is why the coup makers usually suspend the constition with "immediate effect!".

If the Buhari an his gang had failed in their coup, they would had faced the firing sqaud!

That is why criminals like him offend our ears when he talks about how great a leader he is.

The sentences is very harsh but then, the judges judged arroring to their laws!

The best we cam do is to put pressure on the millitary command, to tamper justice with mercy!

Your position is mere sentiments

So you don't pity the adopted Chibok girls, and thousands of Nigerian who have died because of these bad soldiers who are saboteurs that give Gboko Haram informations after receiving training abroad.
Why do we blame the president for being weak?
Let justice prevail.Let the soldiers fish out more bad eggs so that Nigerians can sleep with two eyes closed.
We are tired of lossing the lives of innocent Nigerians.God will expose more wicked people and reward them.

If GEJ as the supreme commander n chief of the arm forces is wise in these delicate times when his popularity & public opinion is on the low, he'd veto & compassionately spare these guys. Maybe with their benefits or not but either way, that single act if done would melt the hearts of many & naturally endear people to him once again (the electorates most importantly). Those soldiers represents the rage, uncertainty, and anger of a common man out here about this insurgency, GEJ should man up & use his brain to play this one right.

If only those "officers" earned their promotion like real soldiers. 90% of them can't run a mile nor can they operate 3 different kinds of assault weapons. They rather steal and build mansions than make sure their subordinates have the tools and resources they win to fight this insurgency.

Stop spewing rubbish, you know nothing about the military. These men are entrusted with guns and not only protect themselves from the line of fire but also protect their fellow men. If there's no order, no discipline then how can they conquer the enemy. Shooting at your fellow army men is a treasonable offence let alone shooting at your commanding officer. The laws in the military differs from the civilian world, treason, mutiny and vices similar can never be tolerated. While I disagree with the death penalty, the law is the law and they must face the consequences of their actions!

Start with the corruption of military officers. Stealing public funds especially military funds is what treason and mutiny is. How can you give AK 47 with 3 mags i.e 90 bullets to go and fight an insurgency that has more weapons than the army of the Gambia?

I would die for a just cause but not for a stupid cause. These are some of the reasons people will leave the army and support the insurgency even if they don't agree with their ideology. It's terrible to see corruption eating at the core of the Nigerian army where the army can't even provide decent weapons for it's soldiers.

It beats me how insubordination (refusing a lawful order) is converted to mutiny and a guilty verdict was passed. It is clear someone above want these young soldiers killed.

(It seems refusing an order in the military equates to mutiny. These guys should be spared. How can they be sent to fight without enough ammunition. That was already a death sentence.)

That is the whole point. How can you ask someone to work when you haven't given them the tools and resources to work? Look at the conflict in Ukraine - the same thing happened. You have Ukrainian soldiers that were go hungry that they had to go to the rebels to get food and medication.

A hungry army, broke army, corrupt army can do little to nothing. We had generals, admirals those days - what we have now is a joke

If you want to fight corruption then do it by tackling the lawmakers and the executive level of government. You don't tackle corruption by disobeying a direct order, that disobedience is not only a treasonable offence, it also jeopardizes the entire mission, the enemy could have used that opportunity to infiltrate their base and kill them all. Joining the military is a choice, they all knew the rules and swore an oath, it's not like an office job where you can just quit whenever you feel like it.

I am being objective, imagine if you were among the soldiers in the middle of a war and 80% of your fellow brothers refused to fight, leaving you vulnerable and susceptible to an invasion by the enemy, would you feel safe?? The military does not operate under the same rules as the civilian world, why can't you guys comprehend this simple fact

Dude - every military man take an oath before joining the army. It's not under all circumstances that you obey and carry out the orders of your superiors. For example - if your superior tell you to go to a village and kill everyone there i.e. kids, innocent women, unarmed men etc - you can decide not to obey that order.

If your officer tells you to go and fight without the proper tools, you can decide not to go and fight. There are military rules of engagement in war. If the order was lawful; you have the right to obey it - if it wasn't; you are not obligated to

Oh men, can you hear yourself? I'm just laughing cos it's obvious you know nothing about the military world. If you are given a direct order to kill your father, if you disobey you would immediately be arrested and scheduled for a trial. I suggest you stop looking at things from a civilian point of view and do your research on military laws.

Look at this one - I have more hardware at home than most of your military friends have used or handle. You seem to know little of military procedures and laws - go look it up before you embarrass yourself. I was raised in a military family, went to a Navy school, served as a veteran. I will ignore your lack of authority on this subject
