Mami Babyosisi and Busybody2, as a professional in my own field too, I'm fully aware of these delay tactics and milking processes other supposed professionals make use of in convincing the clients that they are doing their best even when its obvious they are just fooling such clients. That is where objectivity comes in and helps to avoid being ripped off.

What are your suggestions at this point? Please let's not play the blame game I beseech thee.

To my brothers Jarus, Oam4j, R231, jaybee3 and Mynd44 please there's no point in putting up defensive stances. We are all in this together so instead of standing on opposite sides, please let's stand on the same sides and face whatever is coming. Thanks and one love.

I made my suggestion in my first few posts here this evening to OA4MJ,let me repeat it and be more elaborate

Ask the doctor

1.What he suspects that mass in his abdomen might be and what the malignant cells from cytology mean

2.what the next plan is regarding that mass

The next questions will come after those two have been answered so i keep it simple.

I ain't even on the opposing side, i am just perplexed how the hospital is taking them on a merry-go-round...and told them to ask if it's Cancer, if it's benign, but was rudely told the hospital will finish treatment of TB first after which investigation of the primary source of the cancer would commence...Oh Babyosisi I was also told to fly down to Nigeria to hurry the Doctor up if I am not satisfied with the pace and the meticulous professional method he is using.

Thanks bro.

We are not even defending the hospital, we shared all the concerns raised and we did make effort to address them with the hospital. This is part of the reason we insisted on having copies of all the test results so we can share them with other medical experts and have other opinions(which was not easy considering the fact that Nigerian Doctors dont like sharing medical reports, as if the patient has no right to it)

But there is very little we can do to change the course of their approach since we are not medical experts. And you will agree with me that it will be silly of us to tell them some anonymous online medical experts think they are rip off and their approach is wrong.

So in the interest of Ahmed all issues have to be handled carefully. Reason why we shared these concerns some days ago on this thread and asked for suggestions.

All of the opnions we got so far are also not conclusive and many of them also suggested more tests to reach a definite conclusion.

What we need are practical suggestions and not dramas and shows. If any of the medical experts here will also volounteer to visit the consultants and ask real questions from one expert to another we will also appreciate.

Till we have a better alternative we have no choice than to accept their approach and judgement in the interest of Ahmed while we continue to ask questions we get from other opinions.

Erm....based on the tests and reports so far, do you think its still somewhat possible that DJ's sickness could be tuberculosis related? I mean there might be a reason the doctors require a TB test/treatment?

Please just scan through the case in the link I found below which seems to indicate that there's a possibility that colon tuberculosis could be mistaken for colon-related cancer.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3499430/

God bless you for your input ma'am. Let's continue supporting DJ and God will crown our efforts with success. Eku ise ma.

Might be possible sha.

But (I'm not speaking as a doctor or in the capacity of one), a patient with cancer can also develop TB as a result of immune system suppression.
It just means that his white blood cells are being spent fighting off the cancer cells leaving him weak and making room for latent TB(which most people already have in them BTW to flourish)
So it is more likely that the TB is cancer related and not the other way round.

If only those doctors will be nice enough to try start doing something about the cancer cells while still treating the TB.

Being a layman, I don't know if it is possible to combine treatment for the two.

Just that some cancers are very aggressive and will undergo metastasis before anyone can say jack.
That's why it seems like there is subtle panic in the atmosphere.

We appreciate you all and as much as I pray for DJ, I also pray for those of you who are there face to face with facts and dealing with issues head on.
It can't be an easy job.
God bless y'all

Please desist from pulling up papers to make a diagnosis
DJ has tests that have been done and one of them shows malignant cells as reported in an update and another has a mass outside the colon( not within like your case report)
Now how do you explain that in the light of your case report ?
Do you want those two results forgotten ?

You raise interesting points madam but I am thinking if there is a way your observations and concerns can be properly channeled to DJ's current doctors without casting aspersions on their integrity or professional competence (which cannot be a good thing for him).

The thing is this: if DJ's current doctors are being deceptive, confronting them would be problematic because they can frustrate his treatment further. Conversely, if they are doing a great job, confronting them with allegations of deception would be greatly inappropriate and sad.

My own suggestions is that TEHN actively gets a respectable doctor (on ground) within its ranks to communicate with DJ's. doctors so that the interactions and communication can be between professional peers with reduced risk of saying or doing the wrong things.

So after all the issues raised

No suggestion has been raised so far aside what has been said so far by the report on Monday to confirm the primary source.

It is important to state that babyosisi and other doctors on NL has been consulted every step of the way.
I was the one who went there on Monday and wrote the report however I am not a doctor so there is little I can ask other than what one is told.

We have asked for a doctor to come in and support the team on ground..nothing

Yet the current hospital is being criticised

Which way

We need clear steps forward on the following

1. A doctor on ground to help with making sense of all the tests n ask probing questions

2.Hamed wants to become an outpatient..what next

3.further tests may be required to identify the primary source.

CONCRETE IDEAS ARE NEEDED NOT BASELESS CRITICISMS THAT ADD NO VALUE.

Thanks

We have been consulting with some doctors by email and whatsapp but we need someone on ground.
This has not been achieved yet

The decision to treat abdominal TB was a decision taken by the doctors and if I remember correctly babyosisi had said something similar also in email correspondences so I am surprised she is claiming not to be aware.

We don't have the knowledge to Be second guessing doctors

You Tehn guys are doing great. we all appreciate your efforts abd know you are doing this for God and hamed.
No need for you to feel unappreciated and act defensive.
Even without a medical personal, i noticed babyosisi and busybody2 have both given clear and direct questions that needs to be asked. Thats the next step to take. something concrete did come out of the 'discussions'.

Won't it be a lot more expedient if a doctor is here to discuss with the doctor and they talk?

So we ask the doctor these two questions, we then come back to report. Then collect another set of questions and then go to the doctors and repeat the process.

Okay na....

Dude
She has been in correspondence with the team
Hence my surprise what she came here to post

We also have been in correspondence with Rover

At this stage it takes an average of two days for turn around with this Doctor by proxy issue

We get information from field
The field officer writes an email
We forward to babyosisi and royver
They interprete considering there are time zone differences
We tell doctor on ground
Someone's life is at stake in all these email correspondences
Do we tell the doctor here to stop until we get email response?

It is not an effective use of time

We need a doctor on ground that can volunteer at least once or twice a week

The general hospitals are on strike
The lab tests are being done in far locations aside from where he is admitted
It takes time to make diagnosis

All these constraints have been displayed here.
