Thanks for repeating this AGAIN!

Thanks for ur advice, we'll taken but let me also chip in my advice to you:

Try and get some basic communication skills and know how to connect with ur audience. It's pointless having any form of knowledge about a subject but lacking the manner of approach to pass on this message. This has been ur problem on this thread and that's why you type very long epistles but nothing substantial is ever deducted from it. Thank you!
Hmmm....are you sure your advice is for Busybody?

Okay I hear you, we will discuss Kimoni's hurt feelings later. I promise undecided

All I am here for NOW is the hospital to confirm the patient does not have cancer with weeks/months left to live.

This is not a game of who is right or who can read between the lines

No one will attack you so no need to arm yourself with anything

You have been privy to emails of all the tests yet you come here as if you were not briefed at all.

I have not seen your suggestion

Also we need a doctor on ground to help with interfacing with hospital and lab

That is it in simple terms

Babyosisi please it's okay. I totally understand your frustration. Let's all just hope for the best in God. Sorry Mrs Osisi.

Apologies for all the unfair comments and attack directed your way. And even the latest of the many snide attacks from Pickabeau that he just made.

babyosisi. Thanks for putting all the mails as this shows that there was consultation and you were aware of all decisions as against your initial posts which seemed to make it seem you were not being consulted

Good enough your last mail you posted above was sent to us on saturday 13th December and it was on the basis of that we came to this thread to ask for steer and way forward

Today is 19th (less than a week from your email)

The seriousness of your mail prompted us to ask for a involved dcotor to assist us in interfacing with the doctors and making sense of the tests yet you say it is useless asking for a doctor

So what would you have us do

Honestly something is not right here..Do u know that most of the posts we are putting here should not be read by the patient. This to me is unprofessional and totally unacceptable.I understand that people are frustrated, including myself, with the way things are going,BUT pls dont let us throw professionalism into the dustbin,it is who we are!
You dont need to be a medics to know that something is wrong with whatever they think they are doing in that hospital in lagos,i smell foul play. It's just sad that close to a million naira has been spent and yet nothing much have been achieved (from the hospital end,NOT from Tehn),we dont even know what exactly is wrong with the young man.I might not agree with babyosisi on so many other stuff, but i'll stand with her on one thing she suggested more than a month ago, even before this boy left to Eruwa,LETS FLY THIS YOUNG MAN TO INDIA!
IF we had considered that earlier,i'm sure we'll be somewhere by now, nevertheless kudos to Tehn, they did their best considering the prevailing circumstances.May God bless us with good leaders, those ones that we see the need to upgrade our hospitals.

Based on the steer from this thread, the plan was to get an idea of what was wrong before talk of flying

Afterall he will do the same tests abroad for them to know what is wrong with him

Now we have come to the house to get the way forward and get a doctor to help
Re: RIP DJDOLA- We Will Miss You by tollu: 5:29pm On Dec 19, 2014
^^^

The way forward is treatment outside Nigeria, one can only hope we haven't wasted too much time already.

Now we know there's cancer somewhere. Nigerian hospitals leave so much to be desired. It is time we begin mobilising for DJ to be flown abroad.

The prognosis from where I'm standing is really not one that gives room for patience. Especially no Nigerian hospital patience.

While I dont support the disclosure of sensitive details here where the patient may have alresdy read it, it helps to put things into proper perspective. I suggest the disclosures by babyosisi and the quoted ones is hidden.
I must say I'm a bit dissapointed with the way some of the members of Tehn that i have great respect for carried on.
Apparently dr babyosisi was carried along and she had already spelt out un clear terms and laid emphasis on the fear that it was a cancer and her fears of the suspected stage. I dont know what any doctor would do beyond the suggestions and observations she gave. Still repeatedly requesting for doctor on ground and asking for steer on the forum suggests playing to gallery and making it seem the kind lady hasnt given meaningful contributions.
From her mails, its obvious she laid emphasis in checking for cancer with urgency.
Even busybody said so and I remember her quoting me and expressing her fears about the ascites and being endstage and gor the source for malignancy to be addressed. So they obviously are of the opinion that the bastards doctors should have been testing for the source if cancer so long ago. its that obvious even to a layman like me that the next step should be strictly testing for cancerous cell while treating any arising complications.
Now I understand the reason for the frustration of these ladies. Theyve already communicated their fears in not so little words.
At this stage, I think taking hamed to india already is the next stage. precious time needed to address a potentially critical ailment is deliberately wasted on multiple tests.

Everything any body ever wanted to know is included in my posts above
What I left out is the prognosis From the the analysis of the results.

The fluid has been analyzed by cytology and it is positive for malignant cells ( which by the way is not always positive even in malignancy but in this case is)
It doesn't get any clearer than that what we are dealing with and I am coming to this conclusion from their own lab results.

So what do we do?

Meet the doctors and tell them one anonymous doctor online called babyosisi think 'this' and 'this' should be the problem and they should do 'this' and 'this'?

Then they 'bamboos' us with all the medical jargon in the world why they don't agree with you (while feeling we think they are incompetent) and we keep shaking our heads like agama lizard not having a clear clue to what they are saying. Then we come back to relate to you what they say and you send us back to them making us like a ping pong ball with precious time wasted in between.

This is why we need a doctor on the ground who can fully grab your explanation and discuss with those treating him, he will not be 'bamboosed' like us and he can ask real questions, agree and disagree with them because he is not a medical novice.

But in the meantime, we are in discussion with Royver - A Nairalander who is also a medical doctor based in Nigeria (though not in Lagos). He is following this thread and might have read everyone's questions and concerns. He has seen all the tests results too and asked questions with answers provided and suggested we carry out few more (not so expensive) tests, after which he will be able to give us his conclusion and further advise us on what to do. If need be, we might invite him to Lagos, hoping he will be able to make it.

We are not interested in proving anyone right or wrong, or further analysis of concerns we already shared, we are interested in practical positive way forward for Ahmed. He is all that matters here.

Thank you.

I apologize for making the contents of that email known ,some of these folks left me with no choice
I had tried to ignore all the snide remarks in the last two days but then someone coming out repeatedly to ask us to give a way forward got me incensed.in all my mails I had never faulted Tehns one bit and still do not
My whole frustration is with the hospital
They, Tehns have known the way forward ,it is there in my email
I didn't post all our back and forth email, there were more and in everyone of them I had expressed a sense of urgency and never backed away from the India angle even when people called me names because I know many nigerian hospitals are limited in their scope.

To the members of Tehns, please gather all the results ,the labs, the scans ,including the cytology and send it to Apollo hospital in India immediately.that is the way forward since this hospital has reached the end of their expertise.
When I expressed urgency in getting a passport, people rained insult on me and even accused me of not wishing DJ well
You need that passport now and this is Christmas time.
It won't cost a thing however for the India folks to give you an impression or differentials what this could be, and give you an estimate of cost of treatment if there is anything they can do (they will do their own tests eventually ).
I already provided those details to you when I forwarded you the email with the coordinating doctor's details including phone number.

Since this hospital is still withholding the last scan result and are doing a song and dance with diagnosis, jumping from pillar to post, you can't wait forever
This is very very very very urgent IMHO
Even though I want to be very very very wrong

Look at that!
Then why ask my opinion if you won't do anything with it
Why did you have me waste my time?
Why ask mine or anyone's opinion in the first place
The test results were given to you by a doctor or group of doctors no be so?
Can't you ask them questions ?
Mgbo?
Why don't you ask the doctors treating your patient what the results he handed to you mean, are they spirits?
Why will a doctor send a patient for a test, you pick up the test then you come online to look for anonymous doctors and strangers to interpret them then make a mockery of what they tell you or complain you can't do anything with it
At what point did you get this epiphany?
Don't annoy me now

Patient is at home right now,he is no longer under the care of that hospital
If for any reason he has need to be readmitted I promise you he will repeat all these labs you paid for
So gather all the result you have right now and send it to Apollo Hospital
I hope someone hears me now
This is not a time of who is right and who is wrong

Will the doctor shoot you down if you ask him point blank

"From the test results so far, doctor are you suspecting a malignancy " ?
Is that a taboo question to ask in Nigeria?

All we have done here is say the hospital should hasten up the diagnosis process and rule out cancer, which was one of the 4 diagnosis they gave, nothing else...We are aware of ethical reasons not to disclose diagnosis. I have shared same thing you have said up there about withholding info in a post I made 5 weeks ago. Our collective goal and wish is for a false positive result. Thanks.

Well we are all humans afterall. This is no time for blame game.
I agree with babyosisi that arrangements for passport and correspondence with the india hospital be established.
The not expensive test suggested by dr royver too can be carried out simultaneously.
Can the sensitive informations in posts and quotes be hidden. We dont want to dampen hamed's morale. The fighting spirit and morale is the strongest recovery factor

You dont need to post response and wait to get further questions on nairaland in other to save time.

Mynd44:

Won't it be a lot more expedient if a doctor is here to discuss with the doctor and they talk?

So we ask the doctor these two questions, we then come back to report. Then collect another set of questions and then go to the doctors and repeat the process.

Okay na....

pickabeau1:

Dude
She has been in correspondence with the team
Hence my surprise what she came here to post

We also have been in correspondence with Rover

At this stage it takes an average of two days for turn around with this Doctor by proxy issue

We get information from field
The field officer writes an email
We forward to babyosisi and royver
They interprete considering there are time zone differences
We tell doctor on ground
Someone's life is at stake in all these email correspondences
Do we tell the doctor here to stop until we get email response?

It is not an effective use of time

We need a doctor on ground that can volunteer at least once or twice a week

The general hospitals are on strike
The lab tests are being done in far locations aside from where he is admitted
It takes time to make diagnosis

All these constraints have been displayed here.

Thinking out loudly - So Gbadexy makes the suggestion in bold up there, and all we get is excuses about how it would take three days for information to flow from the hospital to Doctor Osisi and back to the hospital SO they would rather prefer a doctor on the ground YET according to pickabeau, babyosisi's last email to them was December 13th.

December 19th (today's date) less December 13th is a whooping 6 wasted days of waiting for Doctor on ground when Babyosisi's free service could have been utilised oh cool How difficult can it be for any gentleman to ask the Doctor "is it Cancer Sir" or how difficult is it to tie one's headscarf round the waist and grab the Doctor by the collar and demand answers from him

My opinion or the interpretation of the results you provided by two cancer specialists who specifically told you that growth should be biopsied?
If you folks are done with the case please declare it closed after all patient has been discharged.
Or you can keep shopping for the diagnosis of your choice

You can carry out every test in the world but until someone uses a surgical blade and cuts out that mass they found and a pathologist looks at it under the microscope ,no one will ever give you a definitive diagnosis.
a fluid cytology already tells you there is something fishy going on.
So Shop for who will go in and do what I described
Your test results already tell you such a mass exists
What are you waiting for?
For someone to tell you it doesn't exist?
Then repeat the CT scan at another facility and have another radiologist read the result
