Russia recently signed a $150 billion gas pipe line deal with China for supply of Russian crude through Siberia into China

This deal if completed will remove Saudi out of the equation as China will source virtually all her energy needs from Russia.

You do know that Russia is actually a 'dying' country. It's population is contracting due to low birth rates and drug/alcohol abuse. Putin had a chance over the last decade to create a diversified economic super power but he blew it. It's back to bread queues for the Russians.

As for Obama much as I like the guy, sometimes he makes Goodluck seem clever. The guy really needs to talk less.

Is that what they told you on CNN or have you been to Russia before? Russia population dying ke.

itz not signing a deal with russia that matters. It is how long the deal will last before hitting the rocks. Nothing lasts with russia. They are just a little better than any country in africa.
Well, if they dont disintergrate btefor the end of 2014 there is hope.
Hehehe. From ussr to russia to sia. grin
They dont even pity themselves thinking they know too much. Thier eyes never still clear and, like madmen, they are the last to know thier status. Itz a pity.

It was reported yesterday that wealthy Russian oligarchs are beginning to buy UK visas. U can understand why Roman Abramovich decided to stay and invest in the UK

Thanks my brother. I was a bit taken by her emotional outbursts. Isn't it better to have a fairly bouyant economy and bid your time until you are strong enough to challenge your enemy when you are reasonably capable? (The Chinese comes to mind).

Many of my Russian friends complain about the economy bitterly. For example, I help one of the guys buy electric motorcycles and ship to Russia. He told me nothing moves. Before now, Putin was very popular amongst these guys. He made them have a bit of nostalgic feeling of the glorious Soviet era. Whats the need of bragging about calling the bluff of the USA when the average Russian is struggling?

Many people supporting Putin's folly are doing so based on their hatred for the USA which I won't beguil them ( heck, not that I like them).

You wouldn't even know what "folly" is, even if it were to smack you in the face. Hence I told you and your ilk to stick to Nigerian politics (most of you don't even understand your own country's politics, hence no one has been able to create a strong well-structured opposition party to challenge PDP's hegemony). International politics and diplomacy have also never been the forte of any Nigerian. Want to know why? - take a look at the country's non-existent foreign policy. Certain things are too complex for you lot.

That said, Putin still has an approval rating of over 80% - about twice Obama's. So, where did you get your information from? Also, if you had an understanding of how geopolitics work, you'll know that Putin did the right thing in Ukraine. He never started it, he just responded - especially cos of Crimea. Losing Crimea/Sevastopol (Russia's black sea naval base) would've been a disaster for Russia - and it would've cut the Russian navy off any access to the Mediterranean Sea. Basically, what he achieved there is far worth than anything money can buy. Hence he somewhat fell back after that, and has been playing the waiting game in Donbass (Eastern Ukraine). It's all chess - something too complex for you and your ilk to discern. The mistake he made was to make the Russian economy more intertwined with the western one and unreliable western partners, who are hell bent on having their hands on the enormous resources in Russia. Hence they have been able to exploit that.

Now back to economics. Yes, the ruble fell due to the low oil prices, manipulations, and the inability of the Russian central bank to act decisively. However, despite the crash of ruble - the Russian economy is still far stronger than those of most western countries, once you put the debt to foreign reserves ratio into the equation. And their gold reserves. The bailing out of just one bank, is no different from the US Fed. Reserve's excessive printing of the dollar from time to time to bail out US banks. Why do you think America's debt is around $17 trillion? The US has that luxury cos of the dollarisation of the global financial market as the legal tender.

Also, the low oil prices isn't sustainable on the long run cos if the shale gas industry were to go bust, most of the big US banks will default. Thus creating another global financial meltdown. The cost of drilling shale gas ranges from $50-100, and shale gas is the nucleus of US' new foreign policy. Furthermore, the major players in the shale gas industry have already taken out trillions of dollars worth of loans from US banks. Now, imagine what will happen, if the industry were to go bust, and they can't repay their loans - that would be disastrous. UK's growth just got slashed today by about 0.5%. Germany is on its way to another recession. Ukraine is about to default, and it needs someone to bail it out. And deflation has hit the Eurozone.

The whole game is a game of Russian roulette, which will end in mutual destruction for everyone. However, with the symbiotic relationship between Russia and China, China will most likely rescue Russia, if things were to go South. America will rescue itself by printing more dollars like it always do - and further destroy its credibility. But who will bail out the Eurozone? Too complex for you.

Regardless, the end-game is regime change in Russia, Iran, and Venezuela. Evidently, if that never happens - America will become the biggest loser again. Hence discerning minds think Obama talks too much, and he needs to stick to checkers and snakes & ladder. This is chess. cool

Why can't Nigerians debate an issue without the name-calling? People just open their mouth like they have verbal diarrhea and start raining insults on someone who has a different point of view, and these are people that would meet you in real life and start calling you "sir" even though you're about the same age.

I sometimes wonder why I waste my time coming to this site as I’ve gained almost nothing just insults.

Anyway, continue on with your Tuesday morning armchair quarterbacking…maybe Nigeria will hire you guys as a foreign "analyst." cheesy

Sometimes I wonder how delusional people can be, to believe things straight-on without any verification. Having followed the standoff between Russia and the west for quite sometime, I have no doubt whatsoever that Russia will win this game. I think America and Europe are overplaying their hands, and lately some European leaders are becoming aware of this, and are beginning to distance themselves from the destructive policies of the west. The recent comments made by Hollande some three days ago during the EU conference meeting confirms this.

It's simply a vain wish for America to think they will snatch crimea and Sevastapol away from Russia. This can never happen - heck for russia to loose it's acces to the Black Sea? Hey Common, it's simply impossible, I mean russia has got a lot of cards to play with... And the west knows this. In fact, I'm even beginning to believe that America plotted all these just to keep Europe not russia down. Let's leave sentiments aside PUTIN IS A CHESS MASTER!

Many world leaders including Obama admire the guys intelligence and brevity, and would wish to be at least half as intelligent as he is. This guy (Putin) has won consistently the most powerful man in the world award, and this is confirmed by no less a paper but Forbes; which as it were - is the center of western lies and fabrication. Yet they know you can't comapre him with any world leader. Obama's rating in the US is not even up to 30% and there he is ranting over somebody whose domestic rating is over 80% and more than 40% and 56% percent rating in Germany and China respectively. Nonsense!

You know, you can present your side of the argument without going personal. In trying to shout me down, passing me off as only fit to discuss PDP vs APC politics only portrays you as a narcissistic fellow.

Which media house pegged Putin's approval rating at 80%? What is the media freedom in Russia like?
I guess North Korea's Kim aproval rating will be more than 100%. I wouldn't be here posting anything on the current economic mess in Russia if it doesn't have a direct effect on me as an individual.
Its outright folly going into a fight one is not well prepared for, that's common sense.

I hope Russia comes out victorious at the end.

You're an id.iot! And that's the problem with most of you - always playing the blame game. Can you see where I ignored "oduastates" on the first page, and I kept ignoring all the resident clowns, who most times, never have anything cerebral to add to topics about international politics, before the clown you co-signed with loose talk about "folly" labelled me "ignorant and juvenile?" Well, I did that for a purpose.

If you lot lack the basics about human interaction, and don't know how to address people - don't bring that crass mentality and attitude to my mentions/posts. I've been on here long enough to know the post patterns of certain folks.

Anyway, this is for you and the "wallie" guy. Stay out the way next time - and the counter-missile won't hit you. And stop crying foul everywhere. I ignored. And they insulted me for ignoring. You co-signed the madness. And it's all fair game.

The first post I quoted here in consent was the one telling missyb to allow for dissenting views without going personal. I quoted the post in solidarity with the dissents.

What do you even know about analysis? The only two posters who posted comments that can enhance proper discourse are: oldEnglish and nobleval. And those are type of posters I created the thread for - not the clowns who came over with useless propaganda.

However, when someone ignores your post - learn to move on. You can't insult me for no reason and expect me to smile at you. We don't do that where I'm from - we clap back, prick lool. Cry biitch!

I have a lot of free time this morning so I will indulge you.

Those are your words in the second quote. If that isn't chest beating then I wonder what is.
Me mad? what for? Poor usage of Reverse Psychology. Look man, I know it may be advisable to come on the internet and vent your frustration and failures on some random and anonymous dude, just don't get too carried away. tongue

Well, since English language isn't your first language - I will give you a pass.

Life is mean and inadequate exposure in this context means: lack of infrastructures and institutions to enhance qualitative learning and exposure, and over time it has become an innate problem. And that is telling from opinions on this forum.

To know the failure in life, look at the man in the mirror. You are barely educated - and your IQ is below average. If that isn't failure, I don't know what it is lol.

Again shifting the goal post?
To you, the use of fancy English words spiced with vulgar language is an evidence of higher IQ and education? I think I will pass. undecided
That means the Chinese president that can hardly string together an Enlish sentence is an illiterate? wow. We learn everyday.
You've entertained me enough for one morning.

Shifting goal-post, or you lack basic reading and comprehension skills?

How about show me where I bragged about my life in the post you replied, apart from alluding to "lack of adequate exposure" and "innate problems?"

That is why effective communication is somewhat difficult with you lot. And when you get the ignore treatment, you will still trifle a trifle - and cry blue murder when ya action gets a reaction lol.

Go to bed, mate lol.

Illiteracy isn't just about speaking the language - it is also interchangeable with being ignorant lol.

Tutoring for you.
