One major problem with self-tracking is retrieval after the car has been stolen. Even most tracking companies don't have ready personnel to help you retrieve you stolen car. We know how our Nigeria Police always scare when they learn that your car is stolen at gun point.

I once work with a tracking company. Yes! They do have VRT (Vehicle Retrieval Team), which is one of their selling point, but they way and manner they choice to change hardware supply companies and online platforms didn't suit me.

I contacted the people at Tramigo and they're telling me a different story. They said I have to pay yearly the sum of N15,000 after the installation at the cost of N55,000.
I read an advert on Nairaland some time ago about car tracking at N25k.

That's NOT tramigo, maybe G-Track or some other tracking whatever. I used G-Track in my previous truck, tramigo DON'T pay any subscription fee, it's a once and for all payment (to purchase and install). I only use tramigo in my present cars, and I swear by their name. tongue

Hi,
You know you could insure your car and still not worry about tracking? You can also get free tracker if your car is over N3Million and insured with Mansard.
Think about it.

I am a living witness...

in 2010, my Honda Accord Academy car, was stolen from church in Abuja. Thanks to my tramigo tracker, I recovered the vehicle in Jos and it was returned two days later. It has also prevented my wife's former Honda car from being stolen on two different occasions. I'm a disciple of Tramigo i tell you

Somebody wants to scam you. You only need to load airtime in the sim card you install in the tracker component. I use MTN cos I can easily transfer credit to the tracker number. Do NOT pay any nonsense yearly fees biko

Me use MTN too, but sometimes, if you leave an accessory on and turn off the ignition, and arm the tracker, it will give some minutes before it locks or it won't lock and when you start the car, drive 20metres, it will stall the engine like a fault just occurred. If there's no Credit left, it won't lock the car or if the car was locked and credit is exhausted in the tracking SIM, it won't open.
Very funny but reliable tracker.

To disable the car immediately regardless of ignition status, send the following code:

disable,on,forced

The car will not wait till ignition is turned off, it will shut down immediately... grin

For mine, regardless of whether there is credit or not, it will respond. The only issue is that it will not reply my sms because obviously there's no credit to send the sms

I use ******* command and it does as described. But if the in motion and the command is sent, e go kill the ignition and stall the engine one time. No delay. grin

On the average, how much credit do you spend on it monthly?

Tramigo, so many features and user friendly. It also has app for smartphones. No subcriptions, just load the device with credit of 750 and it can take you for 3-4 months depending on the rate you want to be getting feedback from the tracker.

Vehicle tracking systems use a combination of technologies to keep real-time tabs on the position of a vehicle or to construct a history of where a vehicle has been. These systems are used in a variety of industries, and they also a key part of most stolen vehicle recovery strategies. Most vehicle tracking systems use GPS technology, and some also make use of cellular or radio transmitters.

Types of Vehicle Tracking

There are two types of vehicle tracking, each of which is useful in specific situations.

Passive
The simplest vehicle tracking systems are passive in nature. These trackers typically use a GPS device to record the position of a vehicle over time. When the tracker is removed, the data can be transferred to a computer and analyzed. These tracking systems are useful for fleet management, but they also have other applications.
Active
More complex tracking systems also include the ability to transmit the location of a vehicle in real time. For fleet management and dispatch purposes, this data is typically monitored from a central location. This type of system can also be used for stolen vehicle recovery.
