If I click yes, dey are oda info dey gona add like date of travelin, departure, who payin for ur trip etc. Please those of you that got US student visa pl tel me exactly how to answer dis part. I kn how you fill the ds 160 matter a lot. On d aspect of having relative in US I want to know if it is a redflag. I do have a sister *US citizen* and I intend sayin yes to d question of do you have any relative in the US. But what if they ask me in my interview if my sis is aware of my coming to US for study. What should I say? If I say yes, they might think we plan it already, if I say no it might luk as if am not serious. Am kinda stuck in this very stuff. NB. My sis is in eastcoast and my school is in westcoast *san franscisco*

I suppose that you are talking about Itinerary.
Well, you would have no business with the embassy if you don't have Itinerary (travel plans put in place), therefore, it is reasonable to have a scheduled travel plan before applying for a visa.
To your second question, having a sister in the US is not a factor of jeopardy except she is a troublesome character or she is considered a bad influence to anyone who is associated or related to her.
Denying her would mean using deception, and that would cost you a life ban from the USA.

By the way, you may write in this manner to your own pals, but to be honest, i don't appreciate a correspondence written in this manner.
I don't know how others see it, but to me, it is difficult to read and to understand.

Are you serious?
If you really do need help, you would make your questions more comprehensible instead of writing in puzzles and expecting me to first unravel the puzzles before answering your question.

OK simply, i used a sponsor and a co-sponsor for my previous application, can removed the co-sponsor in my application. And present only my sponsor.

Hello House, I just stumbled on this thread and i'm hoping I can get some answers or directions?
I just got married 2months ago, my husband is a Nigerian with British Citizenship, we had plans to apply for a settlement visa for me but it's been tough ever since they passed the financial requirement of 18,600pounds. We are thinking now that maybe I should just get a Family visitor visa now (so we can be together for a while smiley) while he works to meet the settlement visa financial requirement.
My dilemma is this:
1. I run a cake business here in Nig but never got round to registering it, so how do I prove or show evidence of employment and financial details?
2. Will my applying for a visa to visit my husband spoil any chance of getting a settlement visa in the future?
Thanks

1) If it is not registered, then it is not registered and so, it can not be used as a proof of a registered business that complies with tax regulation: therefore, it can't provide official documentation for visa application.
2) This sort of application will by no way affect your chance should you apply for a settlement visa in the future

Thief agent has ruined many many peoples lives by submitting fake documents or information.
You should run away from Thief agent very quickly.
Two choices, submit false information, get caught and you have ban whih will affect your chances of travel for the rest of your life.
Submit the truth, you might be refused but your record is clear to try again.

Dear Vicjustice I just received my passport from my cousin which was recently retrieved from the
US CONSULATE GENERAL LAGOS, NIGERIA. But on opening my passport I saw a “Cancelled without Prejudice” stamp on my previous expired F-1 visa.

a)What does “Cancelled without Prejudice” actually mean
b)Will this cancellation create any problem when applying for future F-1 Visa nonimmigrant Visa application
c)Will this cancellation have any impact when applying for future immigration benefits

. I already know that the business cannot provide official documentation, my question really was, what else can I use to provide documentation for a visitor Visa application?

I'm afraid, I don't have the desired answer to your question because, I can't see anything that you can use to provide documentation in respect of occupation, except by fraudulent means.

Dear Vicjustice,

Thank you for opening and maintaining this thread, you are doing a wonderful job. My case is quite special.

I am currently studying Diploma in Information Technology in an Asia country but will be finishing in few weeks. I have recently applied for a Computer Science degree in an American University and have been sent an I-20 to apply for a visa.

Here are my problems:-

1. I have applied for a student visa at the US Embassy in Lagos in 2006 (took fingerprint) but was denied because the officer had an issue with some of the documents I presented at the time. He never told me why he denied my application but the denial letter shows that I was denied under section 214 (b).

2. Also, the date of birth on the passport I used to apply at the time is different. On the old passport, the date of birth shows 05/10/1985 while my new passport shows 05/10/1987. Only the year is different. Can this be an issue at the US Embassy?

I have once contacted the Homeland security regarding this and was told to explain to the visa officer when I plan to apply next time.

3. A 28yrs old Nigerian applying to study for BSc in Computer Science, doesn’t it ring a wrong bell?

4. If I want to apply, I can only use my own company account which currently has 6M Naira. I am not running my personal account, so it has below 50k in it. What should I do? Should I withdraw the whole amount and deposit it into my personal account?

5. Moreover, how much do you think I must have in my account to satisfy my financial stability? When applying for the course, the school requested that I send them a statement covering nothing less than $35,000 USD. That fund covers the tuition and housing of 1 year. I’m guessing I have to study there for 2yrs and 6 months.

I am in dilemma and need answers to these questions. Your response will be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Joy

Thank you for your response. Fraudulent means is not an option for me though. I'll just have to wait to apply for the settlement visa then. Thanks

hello Vicjustice, i hope i can get the help i need here. The thoughts of giving an agent money for visa appears to me as stupid. But as it is, i am almost at that point. Three times i have applied for visas for my wife and kids ,three times they have been refused. The first reason was because i used my compant account. The second reason was because she has no friend in the UK. The third reason,my hotel reservation booking was cancelled.i am about getting tired of it all and have decided to go through it one more time before talking to an agent.
My questions are

1) For a tourist visa, is it mandatory you make a tour booking to satisfy the visa officer of your intention.

2) How much account balance will satisfy the account officer of availability of funds for their trip. ( they have never been given lack of sufficient funds as a reason)

3) My monthly premium payment is btw 2 mill and 2.1mill but i defaulted this januray so i am one month late on my pemium, i hope that wont be a a problem.
Please advise

Before i start, i like to begin with a warning to avoid anyone who profess to be an agent who helps with visa issues: they will get you into trouble that you would regret for life.
While the reason for the first refusal is clear, i am not sure that the reason for the second refusal is comprehended because, having no friend in the UK is not a ground for visa refusal... And as for the third reason, this could be a bit serious because, it could be seen and judged as deception which could attract a ban depending on the Visa Officer reasoning: but i can't give a definite say on this as i have not seen the written statement of refusal myself.

Klayken:
1) For a tourist visa, is it mandatory you make a tour booking to satisfy the visa officer of your intention.
There are different kind of tourists, there are those who wish to see historical or famous places, and there are those who just wish to travel and relax as there are also those who are just visiting friends etc. Therefore, i will say that it depends on why you are travelling and what your activities whilst there would involve. But it is generally good to have activity plans in place and to schedule corresponding itinerary.

Klayken:
2) How much account balance will satisfy the account officer of availability of funds for their trip. ( they have never been given lack of sufficient funds as a reason)
This is explained in the original article, please, refer to first page

Klayken:
3) My monthly premium payment is btw 2 mill and 2.1mill but i defaulted this januray so i am one month late on my pemium, i hope that wont be a a problem.

This is discretionary, the Visa Officer might want to look keenly into the previous six months as well as into the months after the default, and then determine whether the default can be ignored or be taken seriously.

Hello vicjustice and d gurus in d house

I applied for a uk student visa last year, but was refused on d ground of not knowing enough about my school and not assigning my English test to d ukba

Now I have decided to study in Canada, but my major problem is, I have been refused visa to d uk once, which means my passport has been stamped at d back

There is a place on d Canadian student visa form dat states if one has been denied a visa or permit before... Will I fill yes there or simply put a no, knowing fully well a rejection stamp can be found at d back of my passport...

Buy a pencil with an eraser, use the eraser to delete the stamp from your passport, and then give NO as the answer.

Hello Op
I've read your topics and I must commend on your vast knowledge on travelling and immigration.
I would really like to know your take on this please:
A cousin of mine applied for a uk visitor visa in 2012 and she was granted, in the year 2013 she tried renewing her visa from 6months to 2 years but unfortunately she was refused.
Now she wants to travel to Canada with her mom for Easter and she is being asked whether she has been refused a visa before.
Her mom told her to pick no because she has gotten a uk visa before but she was refused her renewal.
My questions are should she go with her mother's choice by claiming not to have been refused? Would that mar her chance of being granted? Or she should say yes.
Please your urgent reply is needed.
Thank you.

It would be unreasonable for me to advice or suggest anything much based on your post alone as i don't know your personal situation or circumstances to work with especially regarding your occupation whether you are a employee or self-employed.
However, i find some of the mentioned documents to be irrelevant.

Sure, you can appeal the decision yourself, you don't necessarily need a lawyer for that.
But how can anyone tell you how to appeal it when the reason for the refusal remains your secret?

So, in your opinion, you are judging that the visa officer was wrong to have refused your application for reason of the "lack of proof of sufficient fund..." because you dropped your bank statement and receipt...?
What type of visa are we talking about?

Tourist visa..wanted to go there to establish a business contact for future biz. ..and I explained that to them..had visited EU (Uk) b4 and also countries in Africa n Asia without any immigration issues..my travel date was 2 months from application date..enough time to prepare for the trip..I submitted application on the 18/03/2015 denial stamp reads 20/03/2015 even though they asked me to return for collection after 15 working days...I feel d decision is somewhat hasty and not justifiable enough..d VO didnt pay much attention to all proof of my finances and also the fact I have never defaulted in previous travels

In this case, a re-application is better than appeal.
I recommend that you make another application: write an additional information and explain why you think the previous refusal was an error, and explain whatever you think the visa officer needs to know or take into consideration.
This is way cheaper, easier and more effective than hiring a lawyer to plead your case; fighting for a tourist visa of which you have no legal rights.
