Quick Tip: (Harmattan and its effect in the Corroding of Inferior Metals)

After getting back from the New Year Holiday. I discovered rusty stains in my lemon colour bathroom bucket made by the faucet I placed it directly under and this stain isnt washing off.

Now imagine the effect the corroding metal product mixed wt the water I use in having my bath & to Cook everyday would have on my skin and my tummy if I avnt discovered.

Corroding of metal is the gradual break down or weaken of metals through chemical reaction which may also be caused by the introduction of water and this solution doesnt get evaporated or digested, they sink.

So, my advice is that you change any rustic or Inferior or old Faucets in your house caused during the harmattan period to save yourself of a future health challange. Thank you.

Topic- Book shelf or plate display shelf or A Wine Bar
I went window shopping the other day just to discover what newer interior decorating item we have in market now. I discover this book shelf at a rather fascinitating price.

Its deep brown in colour and come in different sizes. The size is determined by the number of doors. The smallest has 2 doors while the largest has 4 doors.

Its glossy in material with shiny looking deep brown colouration.

And unbelievably affordable. That's actually my best attribute to such a fantastic piece.

It can serve diverse purpose, could be used as a book shelf or as a plate display unit or as a decoration display unit or even used has a wine bar. Its all useful. Depends on how well you know your decor.

Topic- Painting job
So I got this job to paint a Microfinance Bank at Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigerian. The company colour is Tango Orange, White with a shade of deep blue. The exterior of the building has a lot of grey but all the window treatments e.g Blinds are all in the deep blue shade.

I have decided to use White, Tango Orange and Nutmeg Grey for the Interior. Some parts pure white, some other areas with Tango orange and grey while some with pure white and Tango Orange. Here are few the picture of my staff in progress.

Your opinion is highly needed. Do you like our colour Combination?. Note, its a Bank, a microfinance bank and Tango orange (a very bright shade of Orange) is part of their company colour.

Comment "YES" "NO" or "OTHERS".

More pictures to come.

Quick Tip: Bedroom Television

Hanging of TV in your bedroom shouldn't be as high as you would in your sitting room. When hanging TV in your bedroom, it should be at the same height as the height you reach when you sit on your bed.

Thanks for the suggestion @jamesqu.
You will notice from the tips that some of those pictures are for referrals or for examples. Some picture samples to make reader understand the tips better.

Most of those pictures are not from Houzz. Infact non is, they are from some followed and following designer friends on Instagram with the rights to share. Example are @paradecraze, @hofarc @floridaestate @ maisonmatignon, @consignhomedesign etc. Those are their personal jobs which I find inspiring and love.

Houzz also feature other designer's job. They have the licence to.
Thanks once again @jamesqu. I really appreciate your observation.

TOPIC: Throw pillow and its functionality

What is your take about this throw pillow ideas.
I thought to share. The idea to me is incredible. Like a friend would say, super.

The first picture is a throw pillow idea to a beach house by a designer friend of mine in an Europian country. While the second is to a bachelor's house somewhere in China. Also designed by a great interior decorator.

The ideas to the decoration of this apartment's livingrooms are simple, modern but yet they tell a story.
1) About the owners
2) About each home locations
3) About the environment
4) About the state of mind of each owners
5) About the kind of person each home owners are and their level of maturity kind of.

We decorators have been trained to work Physically, Psychologically and Effectively with our clients. We have to reason the way they would have reasoned. Think their thoughts and give them an interior decorating service just how they love it but with professionalism.

TOPIC: Working with Client Budget

Like I would always ask each Clients that comes my way, "Please what's your budget to this Interior Decorating Project".
Serious, to be honest with you readers, alot of Clients push back this questions to me. They will be like, "How much do you think you can decorate this apartment for me" and they go on and on. I can work with all budgets but indeed there is budget you know wouldn't work. Instinctively, I am sure my Client would know that.

What point am I trying to make?. Interior Decoration is actually a service. Interior decoration isn't like buying goods. Its rendering of service. As a seller of decorating items, I have different items of the same specifications with different price range. Interior Decoration is all about planning and budgetting. For example, Client A might want his 4 bedroom bungalow decorated with 1 naira while Client B has 2 naira.
Does that mean I wouldn't do an incredible Job for each of my clients?. The answer is No. This is were my planning skill as a professional Interior Decorator sets in. Learning to manage funds to bring out the best of services is one of my basic assets. But we all would agree that there would be some items in Client B's house that you wouldn't see the exact type in Client A's. There might be similarity of products in both Client A & Client B's houses but Client B would definately have some item difference.

Quick Tip: Footmat and its importance.
You know one of my Uncle calls me by my other name "Yetunde". He always say, " We named you after our Granee, she was a very smart woman even at the age of Ninety (90) but she died two years after her 90th birthday due to complications arising from her hip dislocation which happened after she tripped on a wet floor on a stormy day". Ah, my poor great-granee. If there was atleast a dry rag on the floor that unfortunate day.
What point am I trying to make?. Its raining period right. Footmats are indeed very affordable. Having a footmat in every room in your house would cost you nothing. Accidents do happen everywhere. My prayer is that they never happen. But a great writer once said, " Prevention is better than cure".

Am really enjoying your tips. The local furniture making companies u talked about, do u have like a website of any of them?
Please make it available if you have any, so interested Nairalanders can contact them, and maybe have a first hand information on how affordable their products are.
Keep up the good work.

Re: Interior Decorating Tips By Multicolour Interiordezine by MulticolourDeco(f): 2:50pm On Mar 21, 2015
Quick Tip: Center Pieces Ideas

Your Dinning Table, Center Table, Consol Table, Dressing Table and Office table all needs small to larger piece of decoration to be placed ontop to look and to make more beautiful. Those small to larger pieces of decoration is what I personally call Center Pieces.

TYPES OF CENTER PIECES
Center pieces ranges from small to larger piece as earlier mentioned. And also we have diverse kinds of center pieces with different shapes, colours, designs and sizes. This center pieces have varing functionality too and some are more specific in functions than others.

EXAMPLES OF CENTER PIECES
Bedside lamps, flower vases, candle stands, candle holders, antiques, flower pots, decorating plates, table clocks etc are all examples of center pieces.

HOW DO YOU RECOGNISE PERFECT CENTER PIECES FOR DIFFERENT TABLES
I will say instinctively. You should just know. Its common sense.
*The colour shade
*The Shape
*The pattern
*The look
.... All this must compliment the purpose at which you want to use it for.
Mostly we use table lamps with bedside shelves. Thats the most common of all center pieces. And in most offices, you would normally see a pen holder or a file rack. And on some consol tables, medium flower vase. But as professional, we do it professionally.
