DebateNigeria:
On a serious note, this is a big issue. What was the write up intentionally done to tarnish the image of Etim or was it done ignorantly. What is the antecedent of the writer.
Media is a vehicle that can be used to drive development, however, it can also be used as an instrument for deceit, confusion, war and division. In Nigeria today, most, if not all media houses have sold their soul to one political party or another. Sad to say the least.
The responsibility of the police is to protect all Nigerians and our properties, however, ridiculing the police with such an article will worsen things for the writer. They would have exhausted all option before writing this particular article.

My friend you the youths of this country should try and build your integrity and principles, all these old men have ruined our nation yet we cannot help our ourselves,if we cannot fight we cannot also use our brain to analyze issues critically and make comments that is line with our fundamental right, justice and equity.

Does the article give the Commissioner or whosoever the right to threaten the life of the reporter?
What are the courts meant for?

When AIT aired the mischievous report about Bola Tinubu he went to Court to get an order restraining them and not go about threatening to snuff life out of Raymond Dopkesi. I am not an APC member but this is just common sense.

You are here supporting a useless commissioner of police who in a sane society would have resigned honorable for making such a statement.
I weep for this country.

I will only advice the reporter to go to court and get a court order mandating the Commissioner of police to provide him and his family the needed protection and also investigate the claims of the reporter.

I am so disappointed in some youth with the way they respond to issues online.
The Police Commissioner has goofed and should be shown the door.
the punch Correspondent was doing his job, the commissioner should also do his job of protecting Innocent citizens and arresting culprits of d law.

My fellow youth, I guess you did not read what I read or maybe you don't understand. I did not support the commissioner neither did I support the journalist. Journalists in Nigeria are too "one sided". They need to be more professional. Why didn't the journalist go to court, sue the police and or whoever.....
Well, these old men who ruined our nation are still hanging around in both parties, from the presidential candidate of the APC to all those old folks surrounding President GEJ.

Even though the answer given by the CP to the reporter is wrong, I think it serves the reporter right.
The only picture he is spreading around shows a man who needed to talk to the first lady privately and bent one knee to whisper to her. How that translates to kneeling down is only from the mumu's imagination.

Now he wants protection when he was the same one that saw yanga sleeping and as trouble, he went to wake her.

I was listening to a programme on the only independent radio station in the state and the APC mumu rep was asked why the party was campaigning against Akpabio and not Udom the governorship aspirant, the man couldn't answer. Too many badbelle people in the state.

Yu r right. When our journalist begin to carry out objective and investigative journalim dey can ask d police for protection and even d masses will protect them. All they do is character assassination of political office holder in order to project d interest another party. This thing abt the commissioner is jst being blown out of proportion. The attack on Govr Godswill Akpabio is borne out of this Ibibio/Anang issue. That's why they can't attack Udom bt keep hitting on the outgoing governor. Akpabio has done credibly well and if criticism must done it shld be a constructive one. Oga journalist yu r on ur own ohh!

Was a state police commissioner said this?

If it was true that he said that he deserves to be removed immediately.

This is another low for this useless government.
Re: "I CAN'T PROTECT YOU!", Akwa Ibom CP Tells PUNCH Correspondent by Nobody: 9:36pm On Mar 17, 2015
Punch correspondent achieved his aim by rubbishing the government and first lady of the state. He now seeks protection from the police to continue his madness and mayhem. I used to think Newspapers were different from tabloids. Punch, , , premiumtimes, I do not know which of them will win the award for the most misleading paper of the year.

Sorry in Akwa Ibom state the police force is highly compromised.

Now, they are used as taskforce against illegal parking, touting and loading in unauthorized places. In Ikot Ekpene, they go after motorcyclists who ply Ikot Ekpene - Aba route for taking customers from the motor parks.

Azzin! May 29 will mark the commencement of our own cultural revolution in Nigeria, like the Chinese had in the 60's and 70's. No sacred cows! We'll lock up and exterminate all the assholes that have held Nigeria by the balls for decades. Patience will be a regular visitor at Kirikiri, to see her pet dog Jonathan an her boyfriend Akpabio.

The man is a reporter not a criminal.

If jonathan win election, the second term would be like living in the forest for nigerians. Thugs would take over the country. Imaging police commissioner saying that he cannot protect person. He should be sacked.

The reporter did nothing wrong.

The reporter is wrong. I have taken my time to check the pixs only to find out that the Punch correspondent was after something because the environment they were, that was the only position he could stay to relay his message to the governor's wife.I am not from the state but the writers position goes to show that he was paid to go after someone and not to do his professional job as a journalist.

The Punch man is on his own.
Re: "I CAN'T PROTECT YOU!", Akwa Ibom CP Tells PUNCH Correspondent by focus7: 10:22pm On Mar 17, 2015
The police officer attitude is exactly same with what Jonathan displayed towards Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states that made the fight against the insurgent lingered and become almost impossible to conquer. Jonathan government does not give a dam about the security of those who are not in their support.
