PFA award is strictly for premier league games only - it's got nothing to do with european games otherwise drogba should have won PFA award in 2012.

No voter will seat down and say 'let me remove his excellent Europe performance from his league performance'. A season long general opinion is formed from games played in EPL, UCL, Carling cup, FA cup.

Performance in UCL influence on the voter is as strong as the performance in the EPL, if not stronger.

Bale was the best that season.

AS FOR GIGGS. Correct judgement too. He tore into opponents with ease. I watched some of the matches recently, he was the inspiration that got us through difficult moments. When everyone else appeared dull, he ran rings round opponents and opened them all up.

Bale has a unique ability that even renowned attacking midfielders, wingers and forwards didnt have. Ivanovic, Banes and co can never have. Bale can dribble, take on, out pace, and shoot accurately. He got promoted and that gave Assou Ekotto another chance to take the left back.

PFA award is a popularity contest.
only premier league players get to choose the team of the season(which nani made).

all the players from the 92 clubs in the professional league in england/wales get to vote for PFA player of the year so it's not hard to see how bale stole the award. majority of the players that voted for him didn't necessarily play against him.

all the welsh players in england would have cast their votes for him. it's a popularity contest & that's also the reason giggs won it in 2009 when vidic was the reason we kept a long run of clean sheet.
