China has too many people....yet is close to being developed.

It isn't the number of people that determines how a country is developed...it is how you use those people that determines how a country is developed.

That is why you and the Northerners at state level should develop innovative and industrial economies...not economies that export raw materials....that tomorrow when the price drops , our treasury would suddenly start looking empty.

Honestly, food is more of aesthetics than taste
Oyibo sabi packaging.
point of correction...its not about aesthetics...its about a balanced diet that meets the daily requirements of the growing child to ensure optimal growth and development...Most people need good food when growing up during childhood which poverty impairs and we in Africa mostly only afford Carbs as proteins and veges are expensive...By the time an African gets a job and can eat balanced diet, its mostly too late to provide the essential nutrients

Sir, l was just trying to show how much I appreciated the way the meals were arranged and presented.

Nigeria is not rich enough to give its pupils good school meals...because Nigeria is not an industrial country...and as such our GDP cannot sustain major welfare projects.

(And as for oil...we produce 800000 Barrels less than the United Arab emirates...which has 8million people. Now you know why Dubai is high class...and Nigeria...with 170million people..is still developing.)

Tell your thieving leaders to return some part of their loot maybe we can start somewhere.

Maybe....but we would still need far more.

Corruption IS wrong...and must be stopped....but we need a high GDP too

We also have to increase agricultural production....ie...more mechanized farming

Food is about nutrition, not aesthetics.

Taste is definitely important as well.

What a peculiar mind you have.

P.S.
These pictures were taken expressly for the purposes of the newspaper - the school food that the kids eat is presented very differently, most schools do not use prison trays for school meals.
Please, don't get me wrong.
Nobody is disputing the fact that the true essence of food is nutrition.
l was only trying to say that the attraction in food is more about aesthetics than taste.
lf you were given two versions of your favourite meal, one prepped at a roadside eatery, and the other at the Hilton, which would you rather choose despite the fact that each would satisfy your nutritional requirements?

As for the pictures, l never said they were necessarily the actual meals given to kids
That is why l posted the link so people would learn more.
Everyone knows these pictures are for illustrative purposes.

As for "prison trays", in as much as some schools don't use them, many others actually do.

There's a lot of well-presented food that tastes dreadful, to insist on that point is odd.

To many people outside of Africa some of the soups that Nigerians eat are not appealing to look at but they taste delicious.

Presentation is a factor in a restaurant and will have some relevance for children who can be shallow when it comes to food but taste and nutrition far trumps aesthetics.

China has a lot of people but a much slower birth rate (as a result of their state enforced policies), allowing their development to be felt by the people.

India has a lot of people but an unsustainable birth rate - any development that is taking place there will not be felt by the majority because no economy can grow to match such a birth rate.

A good economy needs equivalent social policies to be effective.

But you cannot have those social policies without a hefty treasury.

And it seems to me that countries that are innovative make more money than raw material reliant countries.

We cannot have an effective social/welfare policy because we don't have enough money....thanks to the fact that oil...our only resource....is subject to price fluctuations that affect the amount of kudi one can make from it.

That is why we have to develop an industrial society. We have no choice.

Developing a robust economy should always be a priority but I was not thinking of expensive welfare programs - more so using the existing networks to spread information that will assist in social development.

Basic lessons and information on health and hygiene would go a long way in parts of Nigeria - the need to keep an environment clean, proper refuse collection practices, how to deal with waste water etc. The money for such a project could easily be found, no need for a hefty treasury.

The other fact is that many of these social policies are cost saving - advising people to have fewer children is one such example.

Well, I have been talking about the attraction/ appeal of food NOT the basic essence for it; we are obviously not on the same page.
The first thing that attracts me, and I'm sure most people, to a meal is the sight/presentation, before the taste.
The better the presentation, the stronger the attraction.
Then taste ( which determines whether we eat the food or not) and nutrition naturally follow.

Fair enough.
We are all different...one man's trash is another man's treasure.
Hold onto your opinion, while I hold onto mine.
We are both entitled to them.
