because had you taken your time with the business you sold you would be living better in Nigeria than what's happening today for you in SA because you lost years of development in struggling. You're now on your feet and we're all proud of you but add those years to your business in Ng. and you'll be a lot further. Nothing worst than unfinished product. It's good that you're not going through generator stress and the chaos that is Nigeria. i don't fault you for leaving but we need strong ambitious men like yourself here as opposed to selling your properties in Nigeria and starting from the bottom elsewhere. It's of course your life and you're the master of your destiny, but 90% of the Nigerians in SA need to stop wasting their time and come home. Someone will be in SA clipping people's nails for 15 years. Are there no nails in Nigeria?
dude,u dey spew rubbish!!!! Why will he come to a place where things aint working

my man i hope u believ me now, from my experience i swear no matter what has happened this people are not treating us bad if u see what our people are doing here u will feel sorry for south african. one example among many south african like dressing half naked when they pass where alot of nigerian are nigerians will be shouting making them feel shy also we are so desperate for women and money here which is not good i guess because of pressure from home.

come on man, now you are not fully honest with us....these xenophobic attacks didnt start today. what we saw 2 months ago was just ANOTHER episode of the ongoing xenophobia of SA. it happened in 2008 where they killed 42 people, in may 2009, didnt the local business people of Khayelitsha sent letters to Somali traders threatening them if they did not move out of the area within a week? and also in 2013 where they killed countless africans in renewed xenophobic attacks?

before they used to focus on people from Zimbabwe and Mozambique, but now they blame their problems on EVERYBODY....... and the drug problem in SA is blamed on Nigerians.

For 83 k from 36k in Naija, you haven't made any progress. In Nigeria, you would have so many opportunities to grow, not to talk about being close to family and friends. In SA, their people will make sure you don't progress, and if you stubbornly attempt to grow, they will organize themselves into xenophobia mobs to tear you down.

The only justifiable reason to leave ones country is WAR. Naija government should make Nigeria attractive to our youths. So that they stop wasting their lives and talents in elusive foreign lands.
Some people can just be negative, he said he left cos of a flood attack that ruined him, what did our government do when it ruined him? What if the flood killed him what would they have done? The guy said his job is more convenient there just leave him alone nd shut the f**k up! There hasn't been light for one week in my area and we get fuel for #140 are u telling me ppl will not be having problems with their businesses? He didn't say u must come neither did he say you will not make it in Nigeria, he's only giving advice to people that want to travel abroad, if u don't want the advice, simply walk out f the thread.

then where exactly do you think these xenophobic issues are worst? was it not in Johannesburg (and also Durban) that the worst of the worst happened few months ago? is J/burg safe for Africans ?! what was done to fix this lingering issue about these South Africans racists who attack and kill africans (en masse) every few yrs?

btw: you didnt answer my question:" are nigerians labelled as criminals/drug dealers or not (thanks to the little few bad apples)?

from my experience i think social media is hyping things no one is labelling nigerian any thing here if police arrest someone thy just take the person quietly no one talks but if it's drug related issue or crime thy will put it online and news papers.

1.i will start with if you are a graduate and u want to migrate to south africa, it will be wise u learn how to do any other thing cos out of 200 people that come with their certificate only 4 may secure job with it, unless u have someone who will help you but if you dont certificate is not helping us here.
2.if u dont have any one to help you just be prepared to sleep on the street, suffer for like one year or 2 years before you will stabilize.
3.dont hope that any nigerian will help you cos majority of them even the once that have stayed up to 7 to 8 years will still want to take from u.
4.if you come here with with N100,000 it will last you highest 3 months to finish completely so how do you survive cos the least rent here is N21,000 per month and we pay monthly no one will allow you to spend one day in their flat when you dont have money
May God bless you Uche for enlightening our Nigerian brothers that think traveling abroad is the only way out,can you pls tell us the rate at which Nigerians are making it in SA,as in,your own rough estimation, poor, rich, medium class Nigerians in your locality in SA,and is the electricity and water supply constant everywhere in SA?

these are also reasons why u see people decide to sell drugs cos thy believ that the life they are living is equal death no need to fear death sentence.
sir,is death sentence the penalty for drug trafficking in SA? And how rampant is HIV/AIDS in SA? I heard it's very rampant there

their is constant electrity here i mean light never go off unless emergency which thy will fix it within 2 hours it happens maybe 3 times in a year.
apart from people that come with their own money from nigeria else before someone will make it here it will take close to 4 years iam serious then out of hundred people in that 4 years around 17 people will be having close to 2millions in naira i said apart from people that come with cash to south africa to invest.
if you come with cash and buy business immediately depend on the business size example if you come with 2million naira you may be geting close to one million naira in a year then it may grow based on your management skill or fall because of mis-management.

Nice thread. Please I would like to know the relationship between Nigerians(blacks) and white South africans in terms of discrimination, marriage, dating, business etc

2) How much does one need totally to relocate and live in SA.

3) Is it cold all through the year in SA

4) Are there frequent disturbances from police and immigration officers towards Nigerians pertaining permits, papers etc

i think with N500k u can relocate but if u want to do permits immediately then just budget around N800,000 or N700,000 . meeting whites here depends on your status example if u have good job or u are in good school u will meet them easily but if you are struggling in the street my brother no good white unless those drug addicts. it's very very cold between april to august, it's hot august to november, raining november to february. if u have ur permit police wont disturb u, they will disturb if u dnt have. maybe one or twice in a month.

Are the South Africans exagerating by calling Nigerians in SA drug lords?

How lucrative is the drug and 419 business in SA?

I know two of my sec school mates back in 04 who are now in SA.What they always update on facebook is nice abs and 6packs,champagne on ice in clubs, looking fresh and flashy car.

What kind of work are these my ex school guys doing over there?
